New GhostScript version 8 for Amiga
Under the title link you can find the new GhostScript version 8 for 68k Amiga.
With GhostScript you can convert and print Postscript and PDF files.
It is especially interesting being able to convert Postscript files as they are created
by FinalWriter or Pagestream to PDF.

Amiga Society celebrates third anniversary
Horst Diebel wrote:
"Yesterday three years ago Soci went online. During this time many things have happened
and the site has grown more and more but there were also some breaks. Some sections have
been added other ones have been deleted. We look forward what the future may bring...
Meanwhile it has become a good tradition to thank you all who have supported us. Therefore
we will do it in this year, too.
Thank you very much Andreas Magerl (Amiga Future) who has made his news available, Ian
Chapman with his Big Book of Amiga Hardware, Markus Schmidt with his ICQ-list and the
boys of the Schlachtfeld team. Furthermore we would like to say thank you to
Amiga-News and Amiga-Plus. Please keep on doing your good work. Of course thanks to all
who have supported us!
During the last days the following things have changed: There was an update of the
Big Book of Amiga Hardware and of the Little Book of Amiga Software. The section of
Schlachtfeld is online again and will be extended in the next days.
There is no special birthday update but we are intensively testing the last alpha of
Schlachtfeld to change as soon as possible to the beta status. We will give a current
status report in the next days."

Amiga Arena: 5 Anniversary Preview
Amiga Arena - The fire still burns
5 Anniversary preview
In 1998 "Amiga Arena" has been founded in order to support the Amiga Freeware and
Shareware market.
Beginning with a link list at the end of 1998 Amiga Arena developed to a good place
for Shareware special actions.
By this concept several Shareware special actions could become possible.
During the time interviews (over 100 now) and the release of registered Shareware programs
were added as new features.
I could make possible all these things with the help of the developers and of all
active users of print and online magazines and news sites.
Thank you to all these people (have a look at the hall of fame) and all these ones
who I have not mentioned but who supported me, too.
Because of this event I will tell you the history of the last five years and will also
add screenshots.
But that is not all!
During the "Amiga Arena anniversary weeks" there will be several actions with many
developers and companies.
With the help of the list of participants you may imagine what things you can
expect.
The summer will be hot - the fire still burns!
Commercial participants:
- AmiAtlas Team
- Amiga Future
- amiga-news.de
- AMIGAplus
- Airsoftsoftwair
- Apex-Designs
- e.p.i.c. interactive entertainment gmbh
- Funtime World
- Hyperion Entertainment
- IOSPIRIT
- Inutilis Imperium
- KDH Datentechnik
Shareware participants:
- Gutmann, Steffen (MuiBase)
- Hodges, Chris (Poseidon USB)
- Dröge, Sven (Bonds)
- Hoffman, Helmut (PhotoAlbum/CyberShow)
- Jahn, Bert (WHDLoad)
- Kimna, Christoph (PairsNG)
- Kost, Stefan (SoundFX)
- Unger, Thomas (The Kickstart Archives)
I want to thank all participants! I hope you will take part in many of the actions
to show me that the last five years have been useful and to show the developers/companies
that their work is still wanted!
Your Olaf K. - Amiga Arena
amiga-news.de says Happy Birthday - five years are a very good performance!

File Manager: DiskMaster Version 2.5.23
Rudolph Riedel has released version 2.5.23 of his file manager and put it up for download (title link) on his homepage.
This time there's a version compiled with GCC as well as a version compiled for Amithlon. Owing to the Amithlon license Rudolph Riedel could not test the latter.
The most important changes in brief:
2.5.23 (2003-07-17) 74096 Bytes
- New version numbering - the next full version will be 2.6.
- Many little changes have been made to DM2, in order to make it compliable with GCC, VBCC and GCC for Amithlon -> portability.
- IRQ Server has been replaced with timer.device code -> portability.
- Mistake correcting.
Rudolph Riedel: "I allowed myself to issue a call for
donations
on the Internet. I would love to support the AmigaOS in the future, but my A1200 is really not suited for this anymore and I really don't have the spare cash for a better Amiga. I guess I have more motivation than credit..."

The Legacy: Game Museum News
The Legacy is a game museum for C64, Amiga, Atari, PC,
Schneider/Amstrad CPC, in which the readers provide screenshots, cover scans
and information about the developers. On the news page, the Legacy team has announced the following:
Next we draw your attention to a new game titled "Eve Online - The Second Genesis."
Here
is a review in which you may get an idea of how in-depth the game is, and how it is played.
Further, DoM of Team Legacy explains: "In the meantime there are two sorts of updates. A master update, which has broadened into more than 600 games, and an incremental update. The latter is to accomodate everyday-type changes.
Our regular guests certainly have noticed by now that support has been slow new steps: Betatesters can already use all the new functions. All other visitors can use some of them. In the background I'm working under intense pressure on new functions which will move some functions into the live database, including email notifications when something is taken over." Mac: Northland getting closer to release
The Apple Macintosh version of Northland is very close to completion now.
The game has been in betatesting for some time now. "Northland", which was
developed by Funatics Software for the PC is ported to the Apple Macintosh
and other platforms by e.p.i.c. interactive. The Mac version will require at
least a G3/350 with 128 MByte RAM and OSX. A OS 9.x version will also be
supplied on the CD but the memory requirements are not 100% known yet.
"Northland" for the Macintosh should start shipping from the middle of
August 2003 and preordering from our webstore will start next week, when the
demo version of Northland for the Mac will be launched.
More information on Northland can be found at:
www.northland-game.com or
under the title link.
The MorphOS version of Northland should go beta very soon. A demo version for
the Pegasos and MorphOS can be expected in August.

Poll about the 3D map for Tales of Tamar started
Some days ago Eternity gave a
status update
of Tales of Tamar and pointed to the
planned 3D map (Snapshot).
Within the comments there were surprisingly little feedback about this map.
To give Eternity the possiblity to get an overview about the interest on such a map
we started a poll regarding that map.
Please vote only if you bought ToT already or if you will buy it definitely (maybe if there is such a
3D map). Thereforeso: Please don't hesitate to vote because for a programmer nothing is worse than
ignoring his work.
