Wolf Zimmer und Cord Hagen (E-Mail)

Online Magazine "NoCover" Accessible on its Own Homepage
Many Amiga fans already know about it, the time-honored online magazine "NoCover" has finally found its earned place on the Internet. The complete homepage contains clearly over 200 megabytes and was completely newly and currently uploaded on 7th May, 2003. As always, near the current edition of the loved online magazine are the old editions as well, quickly and easily found under the menu option "NoCover Guide," and individual articles may also be quickly found through a comprehensive oversight structure. A visit in the current issue or the back issues is always rewarding.

This mighty big, but long overdue, Internet debut of "NoCover" was made possible through the sponsor www.ConnectWeb.de, who made available server resources and hosting on their servers, and also together with Wolf Zimmer, who is responsible for the complete editorial portion of "NoCover," handled around the updating.

We would also like to take this opportunity to remind you all that we absolutely need active helpers for "NoCover." So we always seek volunteer editors, who have the desire to look after and care for a single area in "NoCover" and to contribute regular articles. We also rejoice over individual articles on any familiar theme. Regular editors have the advantage of getting their own email address with a giant Pop3 email post box (200 megabytes in size), and self-evidently also a secure SMTP server with authentication of the webserver "AS2-Chicago" in order to dispatch their own emails. Besides there is also an individual subdomain that will be established, so that in addition to emails regular editors may also get their own free hom page. We are able to offer this package as a little reward to all volunteer editors who would like to regularly and actively help the magazine.

Of course the online magazine may also be gotten as usual, through an email subscription from Wolf Zimmer, as well as the website APC&TCP and on Aminet.

We ask for your understanding that the new homepage, despite an astounding start, is still not fully complete, and we sincerely invite you to the "NoCover" homepage. Further we would naturally be delighted to be linked from many Internet sites, in order for "NoCover" to become again the biggest Amiga meeting point, as it was in earlier times.

We wish everyone much fun at the homepage of NoCover and rejoice at your visit. (ps) (Translation: dm)

Toolbar for Pegasos (Test version)
Carsten Siegner writes:
"Today I've prepared my MOS-native toolbar for Pegasos in a test version. This puts PNG icons of whatever programs are used on the toolbar, where they may then be clicked.

Right now the gadgets are not yet activated, and the program thread is read from a Box.pref data. This toolbar supports only the new MorphOS icons in PNG format. The whole thing has the advantage that I can easily build FX effects into the gadgets, which look fantastic. To get this toolbar demo to run, you must download the usual libs from my homepage. This toolbar was written with "Hollywood for MorphOS." (nba) (Translation: dm)

amiga-news.de Community T-Shirts (Update)
Since February 2003 we've been discussing in our forum the question of if and in what form we could offer t-shirts with the amiga-news.de logo. Rolf Tingler, our home-and-garden graphic artist, has the opportunity to stain some t-shirts. To those whom "staining" doesn't mean anything: the numbers of soccer t-shirts are usually used up per staining (whoever has had this done knows how expensive it can be).

In his shop Rolf Tingler now offers different T-Shirt-Designs in different colors with the amiga-news.de logo from 17 euros and up. The shirts consist of top quality ring-spun cotton (minimum 180g/qm) with double-seams at the arm and collar. The staining is washable up to 60 degree [Celsius, I think -dm] and the colors of the staining don't fade.

The amiga-news.de logo can be printed according to the wishes of the purchaser: large across the back, small at front right breast, or both. Take a look at the pictures in the online shop, and click, to blow them up.

If you like, a nickname may be placed under the amiga-news.de logo, at no charge. This should be no more than 12 letters if possible.

Update: (14.07.2011, 00:00, cg)

While moving old static content to the database, the following gallery with pictures of the community t-shirts has been added to this news item:

New Genesi/Phoenix-Mailing list for demo coders
At MorphOS-News.de Bill Buck and Raquel Velasco announce the opening of a mailing list for demo scene coders:

The DemoScene@phinixi.com mailing list is open for business / Genesi sponsoring Demo Scene Online Party in Fall 2003.

The Peagsos I is out to about 600 avid users now and things are starting to get whipped up for the introduction of the Pegasos II in September 2003. We have always had respect for true Demo Teams because of the way technical and creative skills are intertwined to produce unique results with a computer. We decided that to truly be a success the Pegasos and MorphOS needed to do their best to support the Scene. The Scene can bring things to the Pegasos that no one else can.

To that end we have decided to lend ten fully configured and loaded Pegasos machines to Demo Teams that have demonstrated past success and a desire to produce a demo with the Pegasos for a Demo Scene online Party to be sponsored by Genesi in the Fall of 2003. The Online DemoScene Gathering will be open for voting by all Pegasos owners only -- one Pegasos, one vote. First prize for the best Demo is 1000 Euros (and keep the Pegasos), second prize 750 Euros (and keep the Pegasos) and third prize 500 Euros (and keep the Pegasos!!!). For all teams that successfully present their demo they can keep their Pegasos ( :-D ). If they agree to produce another demo they will be lent a new G4 card with the same terms (and keep the card if they deliver the demo).

To be selected for the DemoScene special offer each Team must be screened and selected by the Phoenix DemoScene Executive Committee that is being lead by Mikko Virtanen aka Hooligan of Dual Crew-Shining. We will ask "Kiero" of the MadWizards, the winner of the Equinoxe DemoScene Competiton and LoRD, of 4Mankind, the first Pegasos contest winner to also be on the committee.

We will develop a special section on the MorphZone to keep track of these special Demo Teams. All necessary documentation and support will be provided to the DemoSceneTeams.

Sincerely,
Raquel and Bill (ps) (Translation: ub)

Haage & Partner

Haage & Partner: New Amiga start page and discussion forum
Haage & Partner have fitted their start page of the Amiga area to the new web design of the company and opend a discussion board also.

Haage & Partner write:
"Because we use HTML 4.1 (transitional) and Cascading Style Sheets (CSS) now the layout doesn't look good with the Amiga browsers. We tried to add some HTML tags so that the pages will work on the Amiga browsers. The deeper pages are not changed so everything stays the same here. The file size of this page is reduced with this action to 1/3...

After the server move we decided to abandon the mailing lists. But we installed with phpBB one of the best and common discussion boards. For Amiga users there are three exclusive areas and additionally the Pagestream board that is intended for all versions. The main language is German now but English is welcome also, just like it was with the mailing lists. The boards are not moderated, we ask therefore to please accept the usual rules. Abusing entries will be deleted by us without any record. We hope to get interesting discussions. (nba) (Translation: ub)

Infogrames renamed to Atari
Infogrames is dead - long live Atari! The French company Infogrames that bought all rights of the trademark Atari two years ago changed its name today officially and worldwide to that of the former game and computer giant. Until now Infogrames used the label Atari for publishing or licensing of some games only.

65 percent of the business activities of Atari, respective Infogrames, are located to the U.S. in the meanwhile. Due to that 60 percent of the staff in Europe has been reduced during the last year. At the stock exchange the company gained some interest during the last weeks because of a gain of their stock price of 130 percent at the Nasdaq since April the 18th 2003, after Atari announced the completion of the game "Enter The Matrix". That game covers the movie "The Matrix Reloaded". It's expected that it might become one of the most successful computer games ever, which would Atari bring back to be one of the "major players" instantly. At the stock exchange Atari is recorded at the abreviation "ATAR".

Enter The Matrix will be available from May the 15th 2003 for PC, Xbox, Gamecube and Playstation2. By the title link Atari's new website is to reach. (nba) (Translation: ub)

Some direct download links are to found within the x-3dfx forum but should also to find by filesharing already. Read the complete article at Golem IT-News by following the title link. Commodore ITX-64 with 933.000 MHz
Since some time there are some really small motherboards available within the PC world which almost have everything integrated which a usable PC needs. The company Mini-ITX offers some of these tiny all-in-one-boards. That ought to be nothing special but at their website they present some really weird "do it yourself PCs" which use this motherboard. Among these a PC compatible Commodore 64 with 933.000 MHz clock speed or a Commodore ITX-64.

The PC modeller set themselves to nearly no limits so you can see hifi devices with a integrated PC as DVD/DIVX player even a 5 liter keg or a biker helmet serves as a case. That page could be very inspiring for all AmigaOne and Pegasos customers who are still looking for a fitting case.

The Macintosh community also has some talented modellers, so at Applefritter there are similar case improvements for the Mac to find. Who will be looking intensivly enough will find an "Amiga 1200 laptop" as well. (nba) (Translation: ub)
