Cinemaware statement
As reported in the end of February here told clickBOOM in their S-File 22 that there are differences with Cinemaware. Today Cinemaware published the following statement:
Statement from Cinemaware
Hopefully you know who we are as Cinemaware, as we are well known for
our past Amiga games. We are of course doing new titles as well as you
can see on our web-site www.cinemaware.com.
We have also started a series of "Digitally Remastered" titles with
clickBoom for a while - but unfortunately that has gone badly. I was
wondering if you could report the information below on your website.
We understand that some of classic Amiga/Cinemaware fans have been
concerned about certain news spread around by clickBoom, the Canadian
developer which Cinemaware has employed to develop the "Digitally
Remastered" series of games. At this point Cinemaware would just like to
make a simple statement that clickBoom's allegations are false and
misleading, and that we will issue an official statement in the future
regarding this matter.
In reference to this, Cinemaware would appreciate if anyone involved in
the below cases come into contact with us as soon as possible, writing
to cinemaware@cinemaware.com:
As you can see history tends to repeat itself.
In the meantime, we appreciate your support and understand your
frustration at not being able to see more "Digital Remasters" coming out
soon. We are working hard to resolve this situation.
Please look out for exciting news regarding Robin Hood: Defender of the
Crown soon!
Sincerely,
Lars Fuhrken-Batista
Team Cinemaware

In the past time it became quite quiet around the other CD32 websites. To avoid a stand still here for us there's again a call for assistance. If anybody wants to write a games review or owns missing games: help!

Golem: New version of Office-packet Papyrus awaited
»Papyrus X as Word-version and as Office-packet announced
At the beginning of April 2003 the Berlin software company R.O.M. logicware is going to publish a new version of the
word processing software and of the Office packet Papyrus. The word processing software
which originally comes from the Atari world (TOS) will be now offered for MacOS for the
first time additionally to versions for OS/2 and Windows.
The Amiga version which has been announced of Titan Computer 2000
is still not available. Michael Garlich said that because of the current market situation
the Mac version has the highest priority. The MorphOS version (and PPC) is already in
alpha stadium while the Amiga version can be only started after AmigaOS 4.0 will be published
(68k is too slow for Papyrus X). (ps) (Translation: dr)

Death of a German ScummVM Programmer
Sebastian Beloch quotes the website of the software project ScummVM:
Last Friday, March 14th, our fellow ScummVM developer and friend,
Felix Jakschitsch (known to many under his nickname yot),
committed suicide at the young age of 19.
We are completely shocked by this, and do not know or understand
what drove him into this. It is a sorrowful world in which a
cheerful, intelligent and helpful man is put in a situation in
which he sees no other way to escape than taking his own life.
We are sad to lose our valued friend. He contributed important
work to ScummVM, including much of the Zak256 support. His loss
is felt deeply by all of us, and we extend our condolence to his
family and close friends, whose grief we share. If you want to
leave a message to his friends and family, there is a guestbook available.
Also here is a news paper article telling more details
(use babelfish if you don't speak German).
Felix, we miss you and will never forget you. (nba) (Translation: dm)

Individual Computers: AmiGBG in Gothenburg, Delfina in production
On March 29th, the Amiga-show AmiGBG
will take place. The event takes place for the third time this year,
and we'll attend for the first time as an exhibitor. We will present
new and known products from our palette together with our long-term
partner GGS-Data. The Scandinavian
Amiga-community is very active and most notably creative, therefore
we're especially looking forward to this event!
With a little luck, we'll have our latest product in our luggage: After
an extremely long wait, the sound card Delfina went into production.
Nearly one year ago, we announced the last technical changes, that
are already outdated today. The most important change is probably the
split of the product into two boards. The updated product description
on our website confirms what many people already assumed since the
Catweasel MK3 PCI/Flipper is out: The new Delfina is a combined
Zorro/PCI card. The first stage of this high-end sound card will be
available in Germany starting April 7th, 2003. Pre-orders are taken
by our retail partners.

Genesi: CeBIT report 2003
Genesi: CeBIT-Report 2003
From Ron van Herk und Martin Heine
The CeBIT is over, eight days of hard work are behind us. Genesi´s
first CeBIT attendance has been very successful. We were able to have many interesting talks,
we had a lot of interested visitors and started some very promising business deals.
We cannot got into detail of every single topic and of course there are some (indeed not too few) things which we cannot talk about in public.
But some things we can say right now:
_Kato Development_
Kato has developed sound card drivers for more then ten different audio chip sets. These include the AC97 codec, several Creative sound cards, but also some different Terratec models. We are to assist Kato in any possible kind to port their drivers to the Pegasos/MorphOS system, so Pegasos users will have a broad choice af additional sound cards.
_Mediapoint_
We hired the main programmer of Mediapoint. He started, done as a fulltime job, already to finish the next version of this package. It´s aimes to do a first release still this summer.
Our main focus is the professional market but also current users of the stand alone version will be an upgrade offered to benefit from the new features as well. Futhermore the same programmer will create a
MorphOS version of Inga the graphic adventure creator. With this it becomes possible for developers to create such graphic adventures or edutainment software for our settop box.
_Russia_
Genesi´s Russian distributor visited us at the fair. Currently the Russian localization of
MorphOS is under development.
_Merchandise_
Genesi thinks about the production of several MorphOS mechandise goodies and to offer it via local dealers.
We have some ideas for that ourself by now but welcome every suggestion for that as well.
_3sat_
As most will have heard and some have seen already there has been a short report about the Pegasos/MorphOS within the TV show "neues" of 3sat. Even it has not been to extensive it has been quite nice and we got some several positive feedback about it.
Okay, that´s all for the moment - more news will follow when we can put them to public. Our best greetings and regards from the CeBIT we are leaving from here now!

Article: The new generation of CDR/CDRW writers
With the start of the CeBIT the new generation of the 5x-times IDE
CDR/CDRW writer has been introduced to the market. Along with the higher writing speeds for CDRs and CDRWs all writers include technologies to avoid buffer underruns by standard now and are capable of the mount rainier standard, which should replace floppy disks as data carrier medium.
_Mitsumi_
The current top edge is the Mitsumi CR 485F TE (54x 32x 54x speed) drive. The best features of this ultraspeed rewriter include the integrated MITSUMI Aegis write
technology for best writing results. Aegis write controls and optimizes the laser strength, checks the writing speed and performs during the writing process a quality check for a safe burn. Availability: from April. Price: about 99 Euro.
_Plextor_
The new Plexwriter Premium (52x 32x 52x speed) works with an improved optical unit which offers a better signal sharpness between the pits and lands, so capacity of mediums can be increased up to 40%. So a 700 MB disk is capable of up to 1 GB. For a better compatibility Plextor says to extend the disk capacity only about 20%. To reduce the drive sounds the speed of the drive can be downgraded by the user individually.
Availability: from April. Price: about 199 Euro.
_LG Electronics_
For all who think about to get a new CDRW as well as a DVD-ROM LG presents the new combo drive GCC-4520B
(16x + 52x 24x 52x). Beside all common CD/CDRW formats the drive can read DVD-R/RW and DVD+R/RW media. The maximum read speed for these media is 16x which is about 21 MB/s. Availability: from April. Price: not published yet.
_Cyberdrive_
With the CW099D (52x 24x 52x) Cyberdrive offers a high sped writer now. The device works in the CAV mode and thus needs
less than 2.5 minutes for a complete CD-R and
for a CD-RW only about 3.5 minutes. The device can handle the raw DAO mode with 96 subchannel bytes and thus offers backup copies of protected CDs. Extra long CDRs with 90 or 99 minutes are supported also. Availability: from now on. Price: about
99 Euros.
