Game: Tales of Tamar - Final-CD-Version
Tales of Tamar is an Internet and round based game for Amiga, Atari, Mac, Linux and PC by Eternity Entertainment Software. Further details and meaningful screenshots can be found at the titlelink.
The final CD version is finished. As the newest feature it is to be registered that the computer races are now able to move on the map and by doing this become recognizable. Furthermore now the numbers of inhabitants of the cities are determined on the basis of the built buildings and are not evaluated any longer simply after the individual city stages.
In the last months again approx. 50 - 100 smaller bugs were removed. Sometimes one may not believe it, how many are hidden in such a game.
As one of the next features the map screen is extended by a second menu. On this an overview of the map is to be seen, a branch table for the own figures and a wind rose with the possibility to scroll in each direction. This is supplied in one of the first updates and shows thus also the future development of TOT.

Congratulations Martin and Mona!
Martin Baute and Mona Niewöhner married on the 21th September 2002 in Usingen.
Our congratulations go to them..
Martin 'solar' Baute was considerably involved in the setting up of the English mirror of amiga-news.de. For a long time he had translated the complete news alone into English, before he had to stop that because of vocational reasons.

Flash: GUI for SWF encoder
Today I have finally finished my GUI for the SWF encoder of the "SWF-Tools". With this encoder you can convert JPEG, PNG or WAV files into Shockwave-Flash files. These are the famous animations on some homepages. This encoder I have already tested and it runs very great on my Amithlon computer and my Amiga 68040. To make people not questioning my programming capabilities I have uploaded a small SWF file to my homepage that I have encoded today with my Amiga. It runs demonstrably with Voyager and with the stand-alone "SWF-Player" from Aminet.
The SWF tools kindly had been ported to the Amiga by Rainer Böhme and Matthias Kramm as there have been ports for Linux, Windows, MacIntosh and Sun for already quite some time.
This program "Swf-Encoder" by me handles right now the single frame and the animation encoding. But I have to say that the handling of the animations is not very easy. Furthermore the encoder offers the possibility to convert MPEG compressed files with WAV header into SWF files.
Here a test file of the Amiga "Swf-Encoder": http://home.t-online.de/home/Carsten Siegner2/Testanimation.swf
The LZX package contains the according images that I have used. So nobody can doubt this :))

RC5-64 HAS BEEN SOLVED!
On 14-Jul-2002, a relatively characterless PIII-450 in Tokyo returned the winning key to the
distributed.net keyservers. The key 0x63DE7DC154F4D03 produces the plaintext
output:
The unknown message is: some things are better left unread
Unfortunately, due to breakage in scripts (dbaker's fault, naturally) on the keymaster,
this successful submission was not automatically detected. It sat undiscovered until 12-Aug-2002.
The key was immediately submitted to RSA Labs and was verified as the winning key.
