Geek Gadgets-Server with new IP
This is an important update concerning the GeekGadgets' servers. Over the next few days the GeekGadgets project will be moving to a new IP address [64.232.230.106]. A temporary disruption in service may occur due to propagation delays in the various Domain Name Servers, but nothing to be alarmed about. If you do experience problems, you can use the IP (64.232.230.106) temporarily until the DNS hosts get caught up.

Programmers for Internet Software Project Wanted
Achim Stegemann wrote:
Programmers wanting to participate in a software project for the Amiga are wanted.

The project's focus is to program a shared library to make developing of Internet programs easier for less experienced programmers.

Many of us know the problem: One would like to load a file from the Internet via FTP or HTTP protocol with his own program, but doesn't know the respective procedure or addressing bsdsocket.library is too complicated cause you don't know the commands needed. In such cases diverse source codes from Aminet or Linux sources offer only limited help.

The library (maybe by the name of ftp.library ?) would do all this work for the programmer. For example it should be easy to access files on FTP servers by "FTP_Directory", "FTP_Open", "FTP_Read", "FTP_Write", and "FTP_Close" (function names are possible examples). Similar should be possible for HTTP or other protocols (e.g. e-mail communication).

The library is meant to become freeware to make it available for any program developer. Anybody conversant with the use of BSD socket commands and Internet protocols wanting to participate in this project is called to contact me via e-mail

asyncio.library for WarpOS Update
There now is an update for the asyncio.library for WarpOS in version v40.4. The update fixes a exception handler hit under WarpOS v5 as far as the handler was activated (thanks to Oliver Roberts).

The update can be downloaded from the download section on the homepage. It was also uploaded to Aminet and should be available there, soon.

Furthermore developers utilizing the PPC functions of asyncio.library (WOS) might contact Achim Stegemann for exchange of experience.

BoingWorld

Simon 2001 V2.1
Simon is a small classic computer game where the objective is to repeat an ever growing sequence of lights and sounds. This is a small update and re-compilation of an old routine written by BoingWorld editor: Richard 'DawnBringer' Fhager.

Simon2001: Is a remake of an old classic game where the objective is to repeat an ever growing sequence of lights and sounds. Download it here.

I played a version of this game on the C64 --- and while I could never repeat more than 15-20 steps I had a friend that managed almost 70!!! (I have 100 steps in this game) --- If you can top this or even get close to my friends "record": Please, mail me, and let me know!

This was originally an old game I wrote back in '91. I added a nicer interface in '97. This version (v2.1, Feb 2001) is slightly polished and recompiled.

AROS News
AROS, the open source project to implement a portable AmigaOS is progressing.

Most remarkable innovation is the finished locale preferences program by Georg Steger. There is also a screenshot of this preferences. Additionally there is a demo showing the use of the cool_buttonclass for Georg Steger's coolimages-Library.

The fractal program 'XaoS' (contrib section) needs topaz/8 font, hence it doesn't work correctly any more since AROS now utilizes a proportional font.

Johan Alfredsson has corrected an error in C:SetKeyboard and in the RAM handler. IPrefs now can use notification in ENV:Sys/ to update the settings.

Thanks to Stefan Berger is now is possible to abort packets sent to the filesystem.

A few days after closing date the modules will be available for download and voting. Besides of glory, fun, and new friends unfortunately there is nothing else you can win....
