Gary Peake about the Subject of Licences
Contrary to what the SDK says, there will be NO licence-fees on any
applications, tools, or ports in the year 2000. We are reviewing this policy for 2001
and beyond and as soon as I have the info I will post it here. Also, there are and
never will be license-fees on open source apps or tools. Here is Peake's full mail:
Sorry for the delay in posting any updates here. I have just returned from a 2500 plus mile trip in a Rental truck (24 footer) dragging my family and a 3 bedroom house full of furniture to Snoqualmie from Texas.
If I missed any posts, please feel free to send them my way.
If possible, can anyone currently porting an app or utility or whatever please send me an email? I would like to establish an online database for registered developers so these apps can be listed and thus avoid any duplications that may take place.
I would also like to announce that Douglas McLaughlin will be writing his own version of ICQ for the new AmiVerse.
License Fees: Contrary to what the SDK says, there will be NO license fees on any applications, tools, or ports in the year 2000. We are reviewing this policy for 2001 and beyond and as soon as I have the info I will post it here. Also, there is and never will be license fees on open source apps or tools.
Developer Web Site: Sorry about the delay with the web site. Part of the delay was waiting to see which ways we would go with certain web based applications and another part of the delay has been getting my family situation worked out and all of my family up here to the great Northwest. That accomplished, the web site updates will begin in earnest now. Stay tuned for more developments there.
Thanks for your patience
Gary Peake

For a long time we have not heard something about the new browser "Dry Ice" by Andrew Markwell.
Now there is a report of the current level of development as well as a alpha-version for download, but which

Heise: Sun Officially gives StarOffice to Open Source under GPL
During the last days there was the rumour Sun was going to release their Office-packet source-code under the
GNU General Public License (GPL). Even in-house this was called nonsense. But today Sun will be
announcing the release of the source-code officially.
The release of the source code Sun will be announcing at the O`Reilly Open Source Convention in Monterey.
As the coordinator for the further development of the Office packet the organization OpenOffice.org is to be
founded in which are participating Tim O'Reilly, Miguel de Icaza of the Gnome projekt, Brian Behlendorf of the
Apache Software Foundation and Andy Hertzfeld, and others. More members Sun will name during the day to which well-known
companies belong. Besides the coordination of the sources Open Office is to be responsible for the definition
of XML basing file formats, as well as for the programming of intersections.
Full report at the titlelink.

#AmigaQuake has Moved to QuakeNet
Because of the increasing popularity of Quake on the Amiga we want to point out the movement of our channel.
Our small channel still exits since Quake of ClickBoom, but only on the IrcNet.This channel we have
left, cause continuous NetSplits, Lags and user-restrictions. For more than one week you can now contact us on the
QuakeNet.
Adresses of servers you can find at www.quakenet.eu.org.
So, interested users should come there quickly. Newcomers are very welcome. We'll try to help everybody!
Addtionally there are three bigger Quake Clans of TeamFortress in which numerous Amiga users take part. One
of those Clans was founded by me...:) Hope to see you in the new #AmigaQuake.

From today at the homepage of NoRiscNoFun you can find an up-to-date interview with Steffen Häuser and
Thomas Frieden of Hyperion Software.
The layout of the homepage was completely reworked. A first version of the Amiga linklist is available.
The linklist is to be getting a very detailed list for Amiga.
Furthermore a games forum was established in which you can publish your own ideas of games. So, maybe
there will be a developer to become busy to make your dreams come true.
