Program updates
As the Aminet server is currently down I would like to remind that all my
software projects are available for download on my website (title link).
Some programs were updated (e.g. RAWBInfo, PrintManager, IcoDT,...) since
the server was down.

Launch of www.amigan.com
On April 3rd http://www.amigan.com will launch. My work DNS server just
picked it up this morning, so do not be distressed if it does not come up,
it exists I assure you :) (look at www.qwhois.com to see). This is web site
is owned by the newly formed Grapevine Computers Inc., and will eventually
include many features, at this point I'm not sure which ones will be
operational at launch date. It is being run on a fully Pearl/CGI enabled
Linux web server with a secure site certifcate for secure online purchases.
The idea behind this corporation is that it will be 100% owned by Amiga
users, and at launch date users may purchase shares of stock no matter where
in the world they live (We've contacted the IRS on how to do this). We want
to compete with the very few online vendors of Amiga products that have a
monoply like effect selling upgrade parts and replacement parts for very
high prices for classic Amiga. We will also be a dealer for the new Amiga.
I've contacted Bill McEwen but I haven't heard back from him (he's a busy
guy I'm sure), to get the offical Amiga blessing. All shareholders will get
a discount on items for sale, and right now were planning on members of the
board of directors getting products at cost. Shares of common stock will be
sold for $1 US, and anyone can purchase a few as one share. It is a
privately held close corporation, in in will operate pursuant to the Texas
Close Corporation Act (my lawyer talking there).
We're also looking for a couple people. One, someone to translate the site into German
and and server as a coordinator and contact for operations for German.
Second, someone to serve as a cordinator and contact for operations in
England. Stock will be traded in consideraton for these positions, and they
will eventually will be paying positions when we get off the ground. This
is by no means full time (it's not going to be full time for me either, even
though my girlfriend sure thinks it is). Interested persons can e-mail
president@amigan.com . If their DNS servers are not updated yet, they can
e-mail tom@grapevinecomputers.com .
Further details will be released on April 3rd on the website. Anyone having quesitons can e-mail me.
Thanks, Tom Kisner, President/CEO, Grapevine Computers

300 gigabyte harddisk comes
«The harddisk manufacturer Seagate has achieved a new record regarding
data density. The company succeeded in saving a density of 45 gigabit per
inch square [7 gigabit per centimeter square]. Converted to a regular harddisk
with five metal drives this results in a harddisk size of 300 gigabyte.»

Alive Mediasoft website down
Within 6 hours of Alive's new web site being launched, we have exceeded our
monthly traffic allowance! As we are already on our providers premium gold
account we cannot increase the bandwidth any further with them. The site is
still there but many people are find it impossible to get on as it's just
too busy. We are in contact with several larger internet providers to find
someone to cope with the traffic. As soon as we find one we'll move the
site and hopefully see no more problems.
Sorry for the inconvenience, but do keep trying - you never know it may
calm down in the next few day!

Wanted: Information about CDTV!
To continue development, or to re-engineer the CDTV released 1990, I am looking
for contacts to the manufacturer / the programmers of the CDTV software. Sadly, the
manufacturer company seems to be out of business, so I ask the readers.
This is what I know: Manufacturer: Digital Creations
Programmers involved: Bill Barton, John Botteri, Randy Jongens, and David
Porter
If anyone has informations about this, it would be great if you'd contact me
at stefan.robl@tirnet.de!

Alive Mediasoft with new website
Alive new web site is finally open with a host of new features, new games,
new hardware, and serious software. As a special welcome back present,
for a limited period Alive's game Blade will be available for free
download. (Please read the legal terms before downloading).
So now all you have to do is go and have a look...
But be warned - the site is experiencing very heavy traffic, and although
we've increased our band width to the largest account available, you may
still get a request for a time-out. If this happens, please come back later.
NEW Pulse Soon
The Pulse Issue 12 is just around the corner. We are giving you an advance
opportunity to request your copy now, as all 2500 copies of issue 11 were
requested in advance and went on the day they arrived from the printers.
As we've had a good response from issue 11, we may consider increasing this
run to 3000 if demand is high enough, but we must know within the next week.

.Amiga too long as a domain ending!
The article has been removed, since it seems to be an early April Fool's joke. (mb)

COUNTER-REPLY!
On the internet site "/archiv/news0003.shtml",
my article from March 23rd, 2000 was changed by the Amiga-News.De editors,
to make the following incorrect claim:
Post Scriptum 28.03.2000:
Article removed, since it seems to be an early April Fool's joke.
----------
Herewith I make use of my right to have a counter-reply published!
My article, where I promised a free .pc domain including unlimited
webspace to the first 50 people sending in an e-mail, has been removed
to make the incorrect claim that it seems like an early April Fool's
joke. This is a FALSE claim which probably was intended to reduce my
creditibility and the status of the Amiga search engine http://Amiga.Ac.
Once again I want to confirm that all of the first 50 people sending in
an e-mail (which have not been reached so far) will recieve the promised
domain including unlimited webspace.
Pierre Prestel
System-Administrator
Note from the editors:
1. ICANN "Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Number" -
Authority for CCTLDs (CountryCodeTopLevelDomain) - has only accepted a single new CCTLD since it's
founding, "ps" standing for Palestina. There are no informations about accepting a "pc" CCTLD.
2. IANA "Internet Assigned Numbers Authority" - Authority in IP
issues - maintains the list of all valid CCTLDs for the ICANN, and also does not list an CCTLD "pc".
3. Only the name server available at amiga.ac lists the CCTLD "pc". None of the worldwide, centralized
name servers on the internet knows this CCTLD. This means that persons who want to surf to a subdomain
of the CCTLD "pc" have to tell their TCP/IP stack to use the nameserver amiga.ac first.
For the above reasons, we (the editors) don't think that a claim for counter-reply is valid. In the
interest of finding the truth, we of course accepted the text above for official release. (Translation: mb)
