Amiga 2K
Press Release
February 29, 2000
Prizes and more Exhibitors,
The fifth group of exhibitors is now listed on our web site at:
http://www.amiga-stl.com/show.html
In addition, we have started listing the door prizes on the
prize page.
You could be the winner of a new Amiga Developer System. That's
right, an Amiga Developer System. Amiga Inc. is going to donate
one of their brand new "Developer Systems" to be given away as
a door prize.
Now I know you're going to ask... "What's a Developer System"?
Well... you're just going to have to come to the show to find
out.
Or, perhaps you might win one of two rides in a REAL airline
simulator. What's that you ask? Nothing less than the same
thing all the airline pilots are trained in. That's right, a
real full blown airline simulator with an instructor to show you
the ropes on just how to get one of those huge airline jets
off the ground, and of course back on the ground. Lot's of
knobs, swithches, buttons and they all work. Not like a
computer simulator where you move some wimpy joy stick or click
the keyboard. This is the real thing. You sit in the cockpit,
you're trained to move ailerons, rudders and elevators. You'll
move the yoke and control all the radios, navigation systems etc.
You'll be shown how to do takeoffs and landings. Maybe we'll even
show you stalls, buffets, and what the arch looks like at night
from 3,000 feet as you fly your approach into St. Louis. Of course,
all this is simulated, it just doesnt' feel like it. Because an
airline simulator is known to make you feel like your in the real
thing. On top of that, Amigan-St. Louis will give you a real logbook
that you can write your flight times in.
There are lot's more being donated too. If your company wants
to donate prizes to Amiga 2K, simply email Bob Scharp at
bscharp@icon-stl.net and tell him what you are sending. Then
email a web banner and a discription of the prize to him. He
will list you as soon as he confirms your prizes.
Don't forget, it's not too late to exhibit at Amiga 2K, the largest
Amiga show in the Americas. Just fill out the handy exhibitor
form. Go to http://www.amiga-stl.com/show.html and click on the
"Exhibitor" button. Then fill it out. You'll be glad you exhibited.
WOW, Amiga 2K is going to be HUGE!
Regards,
Bob

Digital Almanac II update
The latest version of the astronomy software Digital Almanac II (Rev. 1.8.8) is now available for free to all
users from the author's homepage. An upload to Aminet was also done, so the Archive will soon be
available there soon.
Moreover, the author wants to thank all participants of the DA-PPC survey. The positive feedback of
the survey will therefore be rewarded. As soon as DCE starts production of the PPC boards, DA will
be released in a first trial version for WarpOS. The PPC part of the homepage will therefore be reworked
as soon as the port becomes an issue.

AudioLabs by e-mail
|
AudioLabs: iRec for AmigaOS, live streaming audio reciever
AudioLabs announces iRec (internet Recording), live streaming MPEG capabilities for AmigaOS! This cool
feature comes embedded in any new ProStationAudio version, starting with the forthcoming Millennium
edition.
iRec is fully functional (monitoring and direct-to-disk recording) in the new ProStationAudio demo to be
available for downloading the first week of March 2000. Every AmigaOS user is encouraged to take advantage
of this new free tool.
Thanks to iRec, the ProStationAudio mixing console input (RecBus) can be switched between a local audio
board or a remote audio server, accessible via Internet or a LAN.
Once connected (Miami or compatible TCP stack required), iRec lets you record live MPEG streams. During
the streaming process, ProStationAudio allows you to monitor the incoming signal and record direct-to-disk,
with on-the-fly conversion from MPEG to PCM.
iRec is compatible with a large number of web-stations broadcasting in MPEG, including ShoutCast (TM)
audio servers.
Millennium saves your preferred iRec URL's into an external text file so that you can easily edit/process your
database or share it with other ProStationAudio users.
The ProStationAudio editing application requires a 68040/16MB system to start with, and is optimized for
hi-end configurations including up to two video cards, two monitors and two CPUs.
For more information about ProStationAudio please refer to the official sites:
http://www.audiolabs.it (European server)
http://usa.audiolabs.it (US mirror)
http://www.emrl.com/prostationaudio/ (US distributor)

Amiga User meeting in Wolfenbuettel
After I received such a positive response in the amigaOS chat room about
the idea of a club independant amiga user meeting, I though I should follow
up on the idea.
The meeting will take place sometime in early summer (probably from
Saturday-Sunday on the 8th and 9th of July) here in Wolfenbuettel. At this
time I cannot make any statement about the program, since it is largly
dependant upon the amiga community itself. It is safe however to say that
barbequeing is on the adgenda. I will also try to get some "special guests"
to show up. First inquiries in this direction have proved to be very
positive.
We will try to keep the costs as low as possible. I will try to keep it
under 10,- DM per person. The costs however for lodging will most probably
have to be covered by everyone themselves. We may however be able to come
up with alternatives.
However before i can begin with planning, I need to know how many people
would like to attend. It would be great if you could send me an email if you
think you might be attending. (O.Tacke@surfway.de).
This is not a binding application, just a channel to voice your support.
AmiOlli.

At the very bottom of the MorphOS supportpage you can find "Bilder vom

New AmigaPlus has arrived
(German print mag)
The new release of AmigaPlus has arrived. At first to remember: The
magazine is now called AmigaPlus powered by AmigaOS. This is due to the
fact that AmigaOS, who have taken over AmigPlus, also took over the
structure of distribution of AmigaPlus. Let's put it another way: It is
labeled AmigaPlus, but it has AmigaOS inside ;-).
Highlights from issue 03/2000:
News goals of Amiga: Bill McEwen in Frankfurt
Fleecy Moss talking to Amiga Plus
The G3-Hope: met@box interview
Linus talks: An interview with Linus Torvalds
Linux distributions for the Amiga
In detail: Installing Linux on the Amiga
and much more
