MorphOS: e-mail client Iris 0.94
Jacek 'jacadcaps' Piszczek's "Iris" is going to be the standard e-mail client of MorphOS. It supports IMAP and is able to display as well as create HTML e-mails.
Beta version 94 adds minor crash fixes in autoconfiguration and updated libs. The plan now is to migrate to the Wayfarer core as soon as Wayfarer has the same feature coverage (read: printing). For feedback to the developer the corresponding thread at MorphZone can be used. (snx)

Promotion video: AGA platform game 'Wiz - Quest for the Magic Lantern'
At the beginning of the year, the former developer and publisher Adrian Cummings ("Mutation Software") returned and additional to some of his old games he also announced a new platform game called "Wiz".
Meanwhile a promotion video of the game has been published which also shows some scenes from the game. According to the developer the game is supposed to be released on 5th December. The game can be purchased on disk or USB stick for 16 UKP (about 17,60 Euro) as well as download version for 10 UKP (11 Euro).

Youtube documentation: The Making of Monkey Island
Tomorrow the adventure classic The Secret of Monkey Island will celebrate its 30. anniversary. On this occassion the Youtube channel "onaretrotip" has created an one and a half hour lasting documentation examining the history of the game.

On amigaland.de with permission of the holder of rights, Mirko Engelhardt releases software which formerly was commercially sold.
Recetly three games of the Belgian Peter Verswyvelen has been added - Ziriax, Deliverance and Zarathrusta -, the Airbus-A320 simulations of Rainer Bopf and many games of the Italian publisher Simulmondo including all sports games for the Amiga.

Retro Games Ltd. implies production of an "Amiga (Mini?)" for 2021
In 2018 Retro Games Ltd. introduced the TheC64 Mini and TheC64 Maxi (German) as two ARM-based Linux computers. A THEVIC20 also is in work - there were also rumors that the British company is working on an Amiga replica.
On the Facebook site for 2021 a
new product has been announced: The computer only is shown as black outline but reminds of an Amiga 500. Further information are not available.

Tetris clone: Teserae
Originally the Tetris clone Teserae was written for the Atari ST which at the beginning of the 90s was ported to the Amiga 500 in order to learn it. Now the game is available under the title link. According to the website the game runs fine on an Amiga 600 as well as on an Amiga 1200.

ATnoX: ATX power supplies for Amiga (update)
The Amiga 1000 (and, depending on additional hardware usage, also the Amiga 2000 and 3000) require a so-called tick signal not provided by ATX power supplies. It is a 50 or 60-Hz reference signal for the video chipset. ATnoX is an open source board for using ATX power supplies on the Amiga which adds this signal.

Additional information regarding the Amiga 2000 and 3000. Both mainboards can be configured to generate the tick signal from the clock rate instead (like those Amiga models with integrated keyboard do). This jumper setting reduces accuracy, though. Thus for certain applications, e.g. genlock usage, also these big box Amigas do require a power supply providing the tick signal. (snx) (Translation: dr)

Amiga emulator for Mac OS: vAmiga 0.9.13.2
Dirk Hoffmann's "vAmiga" is a new Amiga emulator for MacOS computers emulating an A500, A1000 or A2000. Changes since our last news item:
- Fixed a bug that caused the DMAEN bit in DSKLEN not to be cleared under certain circumstances (Ruff 'n' tumble, Knightmare)
- The screen recorder no longer crashes if an invalid aspect ratio is specified
- The screen recorder accepts custom video bit rates now
- Fixed a severe sprite sequencer bug that was introduced in v0.9.10.1
- Fixed a bug that made snapshots unusable in v0.11 and v0.12
- Fixed a bug in the sprite collision logic (Gravity Force)
- Video capturing support has beed added (requires FFmpeg to be installed)

Jean-François Fabre's source codes of WHDLoad slaves on Github
Jean-François 'jotd' Fabre has released all assembler source codes of WHDLoad installers which he wrote or maintained on Github. These are little programs which for example remove copy protection and hardware or Kickstart dependences from a commercial game delivered on disk and convert it in a WHDLoad "slave". This is a program which can be executed by WHDLoad.

Puzzle game: Vegetables Deluxe V2
Mike Richmond has released a reworked version of his puzzle game "Vegetables Deluxe" released in im November 2019 which is supposed to run faster on an Amiga 500/600 compared with the first release. The game still is free but you can donate some money.

MorphOS: First public release of new web browser Wayfarer
Press release: Wayfarer, a new web browser based on a modern mid-2020 branch of WebKit is now available for download from wayfarer.icu. This new app makes it possible to browse most of the web that have become off-limits for Odyssey with its ageing engine. Google apps like Docs, Drive and Maps with Street view are supported just as the Whatsapp or Telegram web interfaces.
Wayfarer will work on any machine running the brand new MorphOS 3.14 with at least 1GB of RAM. A 1.5GHz or faster CPU is recommended.
This port has been made possible by the concerted effort of the MorphOS developers, the MorphOS beta testers, translators and all of the users who donated to the project. (snx)

Operating system: MorphOS 3.14
Press release: The MorphOS development team is proud to announce the immediate availability of MorphOS 3.14. While mostly a maintenance and stability release, this update also brings multiple technological improvements in the kernel. Out of these, the most notable are TLS support in exec.library, updates to the Netstack and ixemul.library.
We would also like to thank all of our translators and beta testers for stepping up their efforts in the weeks leading up to this release. This update ships with over 230 new and more than a 100 improved translation files.
We strongly urge new users to carefully read our installation and troubleshooting guides before they attempt to install MorphOS for the first time. Existing users can upgrade via the familiar procedure but are encouraged to read the guides as well. MorphOS 3.14 is available for download in our files section. (snx)
