AmigaOS 4/MorphOS: Bounty zur Altivec-Optimierung von MPlayer
Konstantinos 'feanor' Margaritis wäre bereit, die PPC-Portierung von MPlayer für die in den G4-, G5- und PA6T-Prozessoren verbaute Altivec-Einheit zu optimieren, falls 1000 Euro an Spenden gesammelt werden. Ein entsprechendes Bounty wurde jetzt bei bountysource.com eröffnet.
Ziel der Optimierung ist es, den mit h264 kodierten Trailer des Kinofilms Prometheus in einer Auflösung von 1920x1080 Punkten ruckelfrei auf einem X1000 abzuspielen - derzeit werden bei höchster Bildqualität rund 18 statt der benötigten 24 Bilder pro Sekunde erreicht. Ob eine Altivec-Optimierung die Performance um 33% steigern kann und wie viel Effekt sie auf schwächeren Prozessoren hätte, kann der Programmierer derzeit nicht abschätzen.
Für welche Systeme lauffähige Versionen abgeliefert werden müssen wird in der Bounty-Beschreibung nicht erwähnt. Margaritis besitzt keine OS4-kompatiblen Rechner, an echter Hardware steht ihm lediglich ein Powerbook G4 zur Verfügung. (cg)

AmigaOS / MorphOS: Ask Me Up XXL 2.2.1
Das kommerzielle Quiz-Spiel "Ask me Up" liegt jetzt in Version 2.2.1 vor. Das Update beinhaltet kleinere Verbesserungen und Übersetzungen in weitere Sprachen:
- Game: the animation speed of results can be accelerated/decelerated by [Ctrl] key
- Quiz: medals are now displayed as soon as they are won during the game
- Map: "medal" score of the player is now displayed
- Map: the best player in the world is displayed with its "medal" score
- Map: You can browse the worlds by pressing the up/down arrow keys
- Some questions fixed
- Fully translated into Spanish and Greek (in addition to French, English and Italian)
- New translations in Swedish, Portuguese and Polish added
- Spanish, Greek and Polish localizations improved
- Help file now also available in Spanish, Polish and Greek

AmiTCP-Bundle: EasyNet Pro
EasyNet war eine Benutzeroberfläche, die die Konfiguration von Netzwerkhardware vereinfachen sollte. Der Nachfolger EasyNet Pro beinhaltet jetzt auch einen eigenen TCP-Stack - verwendet wird das eigens lizensierte AmiTCP 4.
EasyNet Pro ist im Amigakit-Webshop oder im Amistore erhältlich. Besitzer der Vorgängerversion können ein günstigeres Update auf die Pro-Variante erwerben. (cg)

Installer-Skripte erstellen: InstallerGen 1.1
Mit InstallerGen können Entwickler für ihre Programme auf einfache Weise Installationsskripte für den Commodore-Installer erstellen. Das Programm verfügt über eine MUI-Oberfläche. Vorausgesetzt werden AmigaOS 3.0 sowie die MUI-Klasse NList.mcc.
Änderungen in dieser Version:
- Locale support with German and French catalogs included
- Variable support for paths in Version, Delete, exists and Rename step types
- Fixed Delete & Exists steps
- Context-sensitive help
- Improved and fixed guide

Retro-Gaming: WHDLoad 18.0
Mit WHDLoad lassen sich Spiele und Szene-Demos, die nur für den Diskettenbetrieb gedacht waren, auf einer Festplatte installieren. Außerdem werden zahlreiche Inkompatibilitäten mit neueren Amiga-Modellen beseitigt.
Änderungen in Version 18.0:
- fix:WHDLoad lock up happen when FullChip/S is used and
exec.MaxLocMem is equal to BaseMemSize fixed
- fix:ExpChip/S and FullChip/S cannot be enabled together, if both
are set FullChip/S will be silently disabled (Psygore)
- chg:option NoTrapHandler/S has been removed
- fix:race condition fixed which sometimes caused a 'Privilege
Violation Exception' when a Resload function was called from
Usermode and got interrupted during the internal switch to
Supervisor mode and then trace exception was used from the
installed program, seen especially in installs using kick13
emu and performing a lot of disk io, fixes issue #2094 and
connected ones
- chg:the log file created by the FileLog/S facility has been
renamed from .whdl_filelog to .whdl_log
- new:function resload_Log which puts custom messages into the log
file .whdl_log, uses the same file as the FileLog/S facility
and requires that FileLog/S option is set so that messages
will be written
this function is intended to make it easier to debug/follow
alien code by adding trace messages to dump the execution
state at useful places
- new:option LogBuffer/K/N to control the size of the internal
buffer allocated for log messages by FileLog/S and
resload_Log
- new:function resload_VSNPrintF implementing a exec.RawDoFmt/
sprintflike string formatting routine
- new:kickfs.s has new option SNOOPFS which will cause in
conjunction with HDINIT all dos packets after processing to
be logged using resload_Log, the supplied perl script
chkunlock.pl can be used to search the log file for missing
dos.UnLock and dos.Close calls
- new:using the function resload_Control and the tags
WHDLTAG_CUST_DISABLE/READ/WRITE/STROBE the allowed custom
registers for Snoop*/S can be modified now
- chg:ReSource support files updated to cover recent WHDLoad
extensions
- new:added XAD support to the installer template script
- chg:external program SP to save pictures from dump files has been
improved to better support AGA screens (ddf, fmode, bplcon)
- chg:on the 68030 the instruction burst is now always enabled if
the instruction cache is enabled (Psygore)
- chg:the 68040 processor is now fully supported regarding the
special mmu features (Snoop, resload_Protect), the
implementation was planned since years, it was a lot of work
becausethe handling is very different to the 68030 und 68060,
although I'm unsure if this feature will be used much, I'm
happy to have it completed now
- chg:option ChkAudPt/S is also supported on the 68030 and 68040 now
- chg:the interrupt redirect feature of ACA500/Zeus is not used when
option NoVBRMove/S is set
- chg:PreloadSize/N will also be set by WHDLoad if ws_DontCache is
used in the Slave
some more end user related improvements are planned for the next
release :-)

Guillaume 'zzd10h' Boesel hat seine inzwischen als "zTools" zusammengefasste Sammlung von Programmen aktualisiert. Die Version 1.1 beinhaltet Updates für SysMon, aTunes, FlipPaper, FastView, FastCompress,
WebReplay, CPUDock, RAMDock, GFXDock, NetDock, LittleBrother und FastHide.

Javascript: TAWS - The Amiga Workbench Simulation 0.24
TAWS ("The Amiga Workbench Simulation") ist eine reine Javascript-Simulation der Amiga-Workbench 1.0 - 4.1 für den Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera und Apple-WebKit-Browser. Feedback jeglicher Art sind dem Autor jederzeit willkommen.
Die Version 0.24 enthält folgende Neuerungen:
- Preferences:
- Neuer Stil «OS4»: GUI-Elemente (TextBox, CheckBox, ListBox, Cycle, Button und Slider) werden dabei im OS4-Stil dargestellt.
- Neu: Hintergrund-Textur für die Voreinstellungs-Dialoge
- Neues Piktogramm-Set: BetterWB
- Die Requester haben für die OS-Versionen >= 4.0 nun einen XEN-Look, Symbole und werden auf dem Screen zentriert.
Die Schrift des 1. Buttons ist nun fett.
- Für die OS-Versionen >= 4.0 wird nun «Verdana» als Standardschrift (für die Beschriftungen der Voreinstellungs-Dialoge, Buttons, etc.)
verwendet, welche «DejaVu Sans» sehr ähnlich ist.
- Clock: Anpassung der Farben für die OS-Versionen >= 4.0.
- Neuer möglicher Wert «random» für den URL-Parameter «preset», wobei dann eines der Presets zufällig ausgewählt wird. Beispiel:

- Optionaler Parameter «noforce» statt «force»: Neu wird standardmässig das Preset des URL-Parameters stärker gewertet
als die Einstellungen des Users im Cookie. Bei Angabe von «noforce» wird die Priorität umgekehrt. Beispiel:
http://www.taws.ch/WB.html?preset=OS_1.3&noforce
- Neues Preset: «OS 1.0»
- Palette: Neuer Eintrag «GUI-Elemente-Hintergrund»
- Die Textfarbe bei selektiertem Text in TextBoxen wird nun gemäss den «Palette»-Einstellungen gesetzt.
- Anpassung des Textes unter «Version, Copyright» für OS-Version 4.1.
- Bugfixes:
- Manche Chrome-Versionen wurden fälschlicherweise als Touch-Devices erkannt.
- Bei einem ungültigen URL-Preset-Parameterwert kommt nun das Standard-Preset zum Zug und nicht mehr uralte TAWS-Standardwerte.
- Beim Laden des Presets mittels URL-Parameter wurde der GadTools-Stile nicht korrekt berücksichtigt.
- Korrektur der Höhe der Cycles im MedRes-Modus.
- Korrektur der Startup-Checks, so dass TAWS nun auch wieder auf Firefox 3.6.28 läuft (die letzte Version für PPC-Macs).
