Apollo team: V2 successor "Raptor" in development Following the recent cancellation of support for Vampire V2 (amiga-news.de reported), Gunnar von Boehm announced on the Apollo Discord channel that a successor named "V3-Raptor" is currently in development under the leadership of Arne von Boehn. The project is currently in the preliminary design phase and is intended to be a significantly improved version of the V2. It will use a modern FPGA and modern FastMemory, have significantly more memory (512 MB) and also offer 16/24-bit audio and 100 Mbit Ethernet. It will not be as powerful as the "V4 Icedrake", but will be more affordable. First, a version for the Amiga 1200 is to be released. Depending on its success, further models could follow, for example for the CD32. It is planned as an accelerator card and not as a stand-alone device. It is based on the existing development of the V4 series and uses the same CPU, audio chip, audio drivers, network chip and network drivers. This means that no new developments are necessary, although a less expensive FPGA will be used (as was already the case with the V2). The main task will be to replace the FPGA model. As the FPGA will be smaller, some functions will have to be omitted. No information about the price is available at this time. (dr) [News message: 03.
