Arcade classic: Bagman
Jean-François Fabre ported his SDL-based clone of the arcade classic Bagman to the Amiga, which required SDL libraries and thus a graphics card. Now a port is available which directly uses the chipset graphics of the Amiga.
Bagman requires 2 MB RAM, ECS and at least a 68020 processor. The source codes of the game which was written in C++ are available on Github.

AmigaOS 4: FTP-Server ZitaFTP 1.10
According to Hans de Ruiter, his commercial FTP server ZitaFTP includes "the first part of the planned GUI": A "Docky" "shows status information, and has a popup menu that makes editing the configuration, restarting the server, and server shutdown easy. No more sending Ctrl+C to the server to shut it down." (video). Until January 20th you can purchase ZitaFTP 15% off the standard price.

USB stick/key ring in A500 design
On the German website lavago.de you can purchase an USB stick/key ring with 16 GB which has an "Amiga 500" look. According to the vendor the stick is produced by an injection moulding process from silicone and a Samsung branded product is used for the memory. The stick is delivered with preinstalled Amikit 8.1 and is available for about 19 Euro (incl. shipping). You have to place your order via email.

AmigaOS 4: MiniGL for GL4ES
Daniel Müßener's MiniGL for GL4ES ("MiniGL4GL4ES"), which is available in a first alpha version, allows also users of Polaris graphics cards to play a lot of the MiniGL games under AmigaOS 4.
MiniGL is based on Warp3D which has never been adapted for Polaris graphics cards while the OpenGL implementation GL4ES is based on OpenGLES2 - written by the same author - which uses Warp3D Novas. Thanks to Hans de Ruiter it supports Polaris graphics cards.
But currently there is an important limitation: You should not run more than one MiniGL application simultaneously. You can find notes on known errors under the title link.

MIDI sequencer: Source code of "Horny" released
The source code of the MIDI sequencer "Horny" which was developed to 2003 to 2006 now is available under a free license on GitHub. The developer Timo Kloss wrote: "This code is so bad, I had to give up working on it. It's here for nostalgic and historical reasons only." The names of variables and functions are in German.
Kloss himself is not going to develop the program further but thinks it might be possible to remove the keyfiles checks and to provide some minor bug fixes by third parties. Originally Horny was written with StormC and due to porting it to AmigaOS 4 then adapted to GCC.

Dungeon crawler: BOH update 20
Back in November, Simone Bevilacqua has released update 20 for his commercial Dungeon crawler BOH (among others available for AmigaOS 4, AROS) originally released in 2009. Above all the video engine was reworked:
- Simplified and optimized CRT pixel modes
- Made 4x LCD pixel mode slightly brighter
- Added 6x pixel modes
- Added hardware-accelerated zooming for solid pixel modes to AmigaOS version
- Added Italian brief to mission "Faces"
- Made a few minor fixes
- Updated manual

AROS: Distribution Icaros Desktop 2.3.0 (beta)

Party game: Battlebrush

Beta version: Port of Raid over Moscow
A beta version of a port of the 8-Bit classic Raid over Moscow has been released. In three different game sections you have to face Russian aggressors preventing a nuclear attack on the United States.
The Amiga port is developed by Erik 'Earok' Hogan, the graphics are provided by Adrian Cummings, the soundtrack by Simone Bernacchia. Raid over Moscow should run on each Amiga equipped with at least 1 MB RAM but has not tested on real hardware yet. All elements of the original 8-Bit game have been already implemented but the programmer expects minor bugs or NTSC incompatibilities.
A manual still has not been published, the players are supposed to use the manual of the C64 version.

AmigaOS 4: Enhancer-Software update / new GL4ES port (Roman Kargin)
For registered customers of the Enhancer-Software provided by A-EON Technology an update is available including version 2.11 of the ogles2.library, version 1.68 of the warp3dnova.library as well as version 3.7 of the RadeonHD driver.
Based on it, Roman 'kas1e' Kargin has completed and updated his GL4ES-ports of the Irrlicht Engine 1.8.4, SuperTuxKart 0.8.1, H-CRAFT Championship and Nights of The Zombies as well as of NeverBall/NeverPutt, Foobillard++ and FrikingShark. The GL4ES-SDK has been updated as well. Please note that Polaris graphic boards are not recommended for this games because according to the developer "most of the games and apps will give you much worse result in speed in comparison with RadeonHD cards." - You can get further information under the title link.

RTG driver: P96 2.4.4 (update)
The graphic card driver P96 has been updated. This is a free update for all those customers who has purchased the driver since the takeover by Individual Computers. It fixes a bug "when clearing the screen, which showed for example with the program Pagestream when used on a true-colour screen."

In contrary with our original news item, obviously the update is not available for free for all customers: Several of our readers have reported that the purchase of a P96 licence entitles the user to get free updates for only 12 months. Thus, if you have purchased P96 right after the takeover by Individual Computers, you again have to pay for version 2.4.4.

A-EON A1222 Plus Limited Edition: pre-registration and special AAA bundle
A-EON Technology is pleased to announce pre-order registration for the limited edition A1222 Plus Early Adopter motherboard.
The Early Adopter release is based on the original Tabor motherboard which has been under extended beta test for the past four years. Due to obsolescence, several minor onboard components need to be replaced and A-EON, with assistance from its hardware developers, has commissioned the production of 100 motherboards for a limited manufacturing run. Hyperion Entertainment's developer & beta test teams are working on the updated AmigaOS 4.1 distribution, while the ExecSG team is optimising kernel performance for the A1222 Plus.
Each Early Adopter system will include a full AmigaOS 4.1 EA digital licence supplied by Hyperion Entertainment and have access to regular file and driver updates as soon as they become available. The A1222 Plus Early Adopter limited edition is available at a special low price of: GB£ 350, €400 or US$ 450*.

Building on Commodore's bundling tradition, A-EON Technology is releasing a special AAA pack to celebrate the A1222 Plus Early Adopter release. The AAA pack will include:
- The new Enhancer Software V2.0 from A-EON Technology

- "Personal Paint" for AmigaOS PPC and AmigaOS 68k

WHDLoad: New installers until 21.12.2019
Using WHDLoad, you can install games, scene demos and intros from cracking groups to your harddisk that were only working from floppy disks previously. The following installers have been added until December 21st, 2019:
- 2019-12-17 improved: Dragon Ninja / Bad Dudes (Data East/Imagine) memory adjusted to fix missing memory bug, trainer enhanced, highscore saving added (Info)

AmigaOS 4: Financial management Lüttje Bookholler V1.70
The author Achim Pankalla wrote: "It is a easy to use personal finance program. "Lüttje Bookholler" is a german dialect and means "little accountant" and that is what you are, when using my little program. The program is capable to import account data via csv-import. LB is email-ware, if you want to use it permanent, please send me an email and you will get some advantages! for examples updates...".
Since version 1.40 at least AmigaOS 4.1 is required.
Mainly version 1.70 improves the "look and feel" of Lüttje Bookholler. For example shortcuts were implemented and you can move the toolbar so more information can be shown.
The CSV import was reworked to meet new challenges and to improve stability and flexibility.
According to the author, Lüttje Bookholler is far from complete. He asks the users to report every bug as well as suggestions for new functions.

Developer: Chuck Peddle died
On 15. December the former Motorola and MOS-Technology developer Chuck Peddle died. In a team he developed the 6800 processor which in his opinion was much too expensive. Then he supervised the development of the cheaper 650x processors. He was one of the pioneers who forced the rise of the personal computer.

Emulator: WinUAE 4.3.0
Version 4.3.0 of the Amiga emulator WinUAE has been released.
New features/improvements:
- GUI high DPI support rewritten.
- Lagless vsync stability improvements.
- Added Trojan light gun preset to Game ports panel.
- On the fly chipset model switching compatibility improved.
- SPTI CD/DVD access mode now internally emulates all CD audio commands. All other commands are forwarded to the drive like previously.
- PCMCIA hot swap support improved. (PCMCIA SRAM and IDE needs to be set again if previously configured)
- My CPU tester detected edge cases, bugs and undocumented CPU behavior updates implemented. (More details in separate CPU tester note later)
- More compatible partition HDF default geometry calculation if size is 1000M or larger.
- CD32 pad does not anymore disable joystick second button if both CD32 and 2-button joystick is active simultaneously.
- Host directory/archive drag and drop to WinUAE window now supports mounting multiple items simultaneously.
- Debugger disassembler fixes and few very rarely used instructions dissemble now correctly.
Bugs fixed:
- Disk index pulses were not being generated when disk was being written (Cadaver v0.1 save disk writing)
- CDTV audio CD playing state restore fixed.
- A2024 monitor didn’t show full viewable area.
- 24-bit uaegfx RTG mode had random wrong color pixels in some situations.
- nrg CD images didn’t load correctly in relative path mode.
- Graphics glitch in some programs that also depended on display scaling/size (for example Alien Breed 3D)
- Disk swapper path modifications did nothing while emulation was running.
- Restoring CD32 or CDTV statefile with CD audio playing: start playing immediately, do not include normal CD audio start delays.
- Fixed possible crash when PPC emulation stopped emulated sound card audio.
- Quite special kind of CD32 pad button read code was not emulated correctly.
Other changes:
- Added separate 68000-68060 CPU tester/validator project based on UAE CPU core generator.
- Removed all 68020 cycle-exact CPU mode internal idle cycles. It mainly slowed down the CPU too much and didn’t match real world well enough.
New emulated hardware:
- Archos Overdrive HD (PCMCIA IDE adapter)
- ICD Trifecta (A500 IDE/SCSI controller)
- M-Tec Mastercard (SCSI expansion for M-Tec T1230 A1200 accelerator)

MorphOS: Word Me Up XXL 1.61
The MorphOS version of the commercial arcade/puzzle mix "Word Me Up XXL" developed by Boing Attitude has been updated to version 1.61. Due to the release of MorphOS 3.12 some graphics bug appeared which have to be fixed. The demo version has been updated as well.
Changes:
- General / Full screen / A black screen could appear during the sequence of certain screens: fixed
- General / Compilation with GCC 4.4.5 (previously 2.95.3) and SDK 3.14
- Character choice / Smoother shift of the avatar when displaying associated help
- Character choice / The mouse couldn't be used to click on the [-] and [+] buttons: fixed
- End / Some labels were fixed

Video: Retro-Recipes-Episode about Amiga 4000 used for Apollo 13 and Titanic
After introducing an Amiga of the former video game developers Team 17 (amiga-news.de reported) in the latest issue of his video series called "Retro Recipes", Christian 'Perifractic' Simpson has presented an Amiga 4000 which supposedly was used for producing the films "Apollo 13" und "Titanic".
This computer also is being sold by auction. Currently over 1600 US-Dollar are bid. On this website you can get more information about the Amiga.

AmigaOS 4: Updated version of XSane 0.999 for AmiCygnix released
Under the title link a new version of the scanner software XSane for AmiCygnix was released. The latest versions 0.999 of XSane and 1.0.27 of the Sane backends are included (screenshot).
Currently only scanners with USB port or network interface can be used.
New in this version:
- Driver software "Sane" updated to version 1.0.27.
Many backends have been reworked and two new added:
- "epsonds" for the support of Epson-DS devices.
- "pieusb" for the support of PIE and Reflecta devices.
- The driver "HPLIP" of the producer Hewlett Packard was ported from the latest version 3.19.8. By this over 500 scanners respectively all-in-one devices produced by HP are supported.
Currently only those devices work which are connected to the network!
Features of XSane:
- Display an image in a viewer.
- Saves images in these picture formats:
- JPEG
- PDF
- PNG
- PNM
- PS (PostScript)
- TIFF
- Convert images into ASCII text using the OCR software "gocr". The program gocr V0.52 is incuded in this package.
- Do a photocopy - send a scanned image to the printer.
- Create multipage documents (PDF, PS, TIFF).
- Send a fax - needs an external command like "sendfax" (not included).
- Send a scanned image by e-mail. Needs the external command "sendmail" (not included)
- Color managemant (CMS).
- Batch processing
- Can be used as a gimp plug-in (Gimp 2.6.11)

Amiga Forever: Version 8, R3
Press release: Amiga Forever 8 "R3" (8.3.1.0) released, consolidating more than 75 documented fixes and enhancements, and numerous minor improvements from previous early access updates. The title editor, the setup wizard and the changelog and update experience again received special attention, and so did features relating to keyboard, audio and CD handling.
A general priority of this release cycle has been on adding an extra level of polish, once more fixing all known bugs and setting a foundation for improved processing of future issues. This includes support for a new feedback server (for user feedback and application crash handling), which is now also available to emulation plugins.
Version 8 users can get the update through the Help/About dialog. The updated full installation package can also be accessed via the original confirmation email or from the new Help/My Downloads and Keys menu item. Additional details can be found in the built-in Changelog feature (in Help/About). (snx)

AmigaOS4: UFRaw 0.22 for AmiCygnix
Edgar Schwan has ported the RAW graphics editor UFRaw to his X11 environment AmiCygnix (screenshot). UFRaw is a tool for editing and converting RAW graphics. It is based on Dave Coffin's "DCRaw" and supports a lot of formats.
UFRaw can be used as separate tool or as plugin for the picture editing software "The Gimp". While installing UFRaw, "Gimp" is detected and the installation of the plugin is offered.
Features:
- Supports various RAW image formats (based on "DCRaw V9.26").
- Can be used as a Gimp plug-in (needs an already installed Gimp 2.6 package).
- Is able to read and write Exif data (exiv2 V0.25). The tool "exiv2" is also included and can be called via a shell.
- Supports color management with "Little CMS 2" (lcms2 V2.1).
- A new version of "Lensfun" (0.3.2) with the support of many new cameras and lenses is integrated. Lensfun is a library for the removal and simulation of photographic lens distortions.
- New features compared to the last version 0.19:
- Saving now also supports the file format "fits" (Flexible Image Transport System), a format developed by NASA.
- Support for JPEG2000 graphics is now integrated.

AmigaOS 4: Claws Mail 3.9.2 for AmiCygnix
For his X11 environment AmiCygnix, Edgar Schwan has released an update of his port of the mail client Claws Mail. The program is based on the GTK+-Toolkit (screenshots: main window, presenting a PDF file, Python console with online help).
New to 3.9.2 compared to 3.7.1::
- New plugins:
- pdf_viewer: Provides the ability to display attached PDF files in the mail window.
- python: Enables the inclusion of scripts written in the Python programming language.
- The SSL/TLS support for receiving and sending mails has been updated.
- The start scripts and the icon set have been updated. Claws Mail can thereby be e.g. now also be started individually on the Workbench.
- Updated tool "bogofilter" for detecting spam mail.
- The plug-in "gtkhtml2_viewer" has been removed, unfortunately it does not work anymore.

AmigaOS 4: EasyTAG 2.1.8 for AmiCygnix
Edgar Schwan has ported a new version of the tag editor EasyTAG to AmigaOS (screenshot). Using EasyTAG you can view and edit ID-tags of audio files. It has an easy to use GTK2 user-interface and requires version 1.2 of the AmiCygnix environment.
New compared to the previous package (version 2.0):
- New version 2.1.8, see "Cygnix:Software/EasyTAG-2.1.8/NEWS"
- Support for MP4/AAC and WavPack files.
- Enhanced CDDB support.
- New startup scripts for desktop and standalone startup.

- Open directories or files with an external program. Useful e.g. in conjunction with Audacious (recommended).
- CDDB support via Freedb.org and Gnudb.org (manual or automatic search). Note: At the time of publication, the automatic search did not work.
- Browse directories and subdirectories.
- Recursive tagging, removing, renaming, saving...
- Reading and displaying file header information (bitrate, time, ...),

OpenStreetMap viewer: MUIMapparium 0.8
Marcus 'ALB42' Sackrow's OpenStreetMap viewer Mapparium has been updated to version 0.8 for all Amiga systems.
He wrote: "One disadvantage of writing a program relying on web resources is, that you have to update that program everytime the webresource is changed/updated. In the next days the search for MUIMapparium will break again, and the Find by IP/ Find me is broken a while before already.
So I updated MUIMapparium to Version 0.8 I also added some small new features, like some more shortcuts and also by popular demand to jump automatically to the first search result. Best update soon before the search function does not work anymore.
Also the 68k freepascal compiler got some updates which hopefully improve the stability and speed of the m68k-amiga Version."

WHDLoad: New installers until 30.11.2019
Using WHDLoad, you can install games, scene demos and intros from cracking groups to your harddisk that were only working from floppy disks previously. The following installers have been added until November 30th, 2019:
- 2019-11-27 improved: Quik (Stywos/Titus) trainer enhanced, joypad support added, skip intro added, keyboard fixed and extra keys added, gfx bugs fixed, wait button added (Info)

Windows: MagicWB style

For me who has started with AmigaOS 2.1 and MagicWB, the excellent design is the main featute defining the Amiga Workbench.
Therefore I decided to start a project for bringing this look and feel to Windows.
It includes:
- Over 2500 MagicWB icons have been converted into the PNG and Windows-ICO format
- RocketDock background
- Rainmeter skin
- Windowblinds theme
- Background and goodies
- Several mouse pointers
Required software:
- Rainmeter for the Amiga bar and Spinning Boingball
- WindowBlinds for a complete rework of windows, menus and task bar
(I know, this takes some money but it is worth the 5 Dollar!)
- RocketDock for a MagicWB-like launcher
(It looks like Mac OS but is highly customizable.)

Working with adf images: GoADF! 2.0.2
The shareware programm (7 Euro) "GoADF!" can read and write ADF files and, among others, can mount them as virtual drives. The latest version 2.0.2 now also supports CLI parameters which means you can set the name for the image right from the start of the tool.

Amiga floppy reader: ADF-Copy 1.020 supports Mac OS
Dominik Tonn wrote: "ADF-Copy is a small hardware i developed which uses a Teensy 3.2 microcontroller to read and write non copy protected Amiga disks with an out of the box PC 3.5" Floppy drive connected to the microcontroller which can be build with a few jumper wires on a breadboard with no additional component. The PDF magazine REV'n'GE ("Retro Emulator Vision and Game") is available in Italian as well as in an English-language translation. REV'n'GE compares and reviews games and programs on vintage computers.

Tutorial: Game programming in assembler with modern tools

Elbox: Driver updates for Mediator (pci.library, MedConfig)
On October 31, Elbox has updated some drivers: The Mediator multimedia configuration tool MedConfig which "helps configuring all Mediator jumpers and all variables of Mediator drivers for the PCI cards" was updated to version 2.4 and is supposed to fix the stuttering audio output. Besides, version 13.9 of the pci.library was released.
