Week of August 31st:

Intuition is now using nominal resolution provided by the driver (Kalamatee)
vbam is now compiled for x86_64 (Kalamatee)
Boot task is now properly finalized (Kalamatee)
Autodocs documentation has been updated from source code (mazze)
Exiting MUI List class "quiet" state now causes proper scroll bar update (deadwood)
System/SysMon no longer crashes when there is less tasks then list capacity (deadwood)
OpenAL library has been updated to version 1.16.0

AROS: Rebol-3 preview version
Kevin Janzer has ported Carl Sassenrath's script language Rebol 3 to AROS/i386. The preview version still has the following limitations:

Commands requiring default web browser do not work
Running rebol scripts from r3 command do not work so instead you can run them with the 'do' function, e.g. do %helloworld.r
Chat does not work

03.Sep.2015 New Amiga 1200 case: Relaunch of Kickstarter project with "Amiga"-licence
In July a Kickstarter project for a new Amiga 1200 case was established (amiga-news.de reported several times). During the campaign the project has been changed and improved several times but the aimed amount of money has not been achieved. Now the project was relaunched and 58 days before it will end, 44.000 Euro has been given (35 %).

Additional to a longer period of time, the relaunch also features the licence of the trademark "Amiga", which will be on top of the case.

The finacial goal of the project has not changed and is 125.000 Euro. The case is compatible to the original A1200, to the Amiga Reloaded and the FPGA-computer MiST as well as to the Raspberry Pi. (snx) (Translation: dr)

AROS: Odyssey Web Browser 1.25 (beta version)
As announced, Krzysztof 'Deadwood' Śmiechowicz is working on an AROS-port of a current version of the MorphOS web browser Odyssey. Now beta version 1.25 has been released.

The AROS distribution Icaros Desktop 2.03 or a compatible system is required. Additionally some system files have to be updated. The new beta version should not be installed into a directory which contains a previous version of the browser.

FS-UAE 2.5.40dev is an update for the "stable" version of Frode Solheim's WinUAE-port FS-UAE. First beta versions of version 2.6 were released three weeks ago.

According to Hyperion Entertainment under the title link, for developers the Software Development Kit (SDK) for the "Final Edition" of AmigaOS 4.1 has been released.

Bootdisk-Creator: Amiga911 Maker 1.62
Using the Amiga911 Maker, you can create boot disk under AmigaOS 3.0/3.1, which contains some tools which are compressed by LZX or XPK. This requires an Amiga with at least 1 MB RAM, recommended are 2 MB.

Changes in version 1.62:

Amiga911 Maker is now a kind of "All In One" type of solution, which means that apart from the main copyrighted system files, it includes everything needed for creating boot disks. This consists of two new archives called A911-ProgramsA.lha & A911-ProgramsB.lha, which contains all major files of the various programs that can be added to the projects.
Four new programs are now supported: DiskSalv4 (disk salvage program by Dave Haynie), MaxTransTest (tests the MaxTransfer value of a partition), PFSSalv2 (save files from damaged PFS partitions) and SFSSalv (recover files from damaged SFS partitions).
Upon booting the Amiga911 disk or Emergency Disk II, you can now press & hold either of the Crtl, Shift, Alt or Amiga keys to enter DosBoot mode (boot directly to Dos instead of Workbench). This will also open a new DosBoot menu, where you among other things can easily edit the Startup-Sequence of the disk, by just pressing a few keys.
Amiga911 Maker does now have a new Prefs window with various options. The most important one is the "Use Workbench ADF image files as copy sources" option, which as the title suggests, may allow you to use Workbench ADF images instead of real disks whenever A911Maker wants to copy files from them. By enabling & properly configuring this functionality, A911Maker will then automatically try to mount the ADF's as virtual drives whenever it's required.
Another option in A911Maker Prefs is "Expert Mode". If enabled, it will make it possible to include stuff that really requires a 68020 CPU as minimum to 68000 based projects (Poseidon, SFS, DiskImage & JanoEditor). This option is mainly meant for those who know what they're doing (hence the option name).
SysInfo 4.0 has now replaced the old 3.24 version of the program.
All Amiga911 disks, regardless of OS version, can now contain HDToolBox 40.4 and FastFileSystem 40.1.
Version 2.3 of PFS3 All-In-One (AIO) has been added, and it will now always use the original name pfs3_aio-handler instead of PFS3-AIO.
AmigaOS 2.x projects can now contain SmartFileSystem 1.58, which is the last known version of SFS that works with OS 2.x
Two new text files will be added to all A911Maker projects: ProgsInfo gives some info about the programs included on the disk/pack, and HDSetupTips will provide various hints that might be useful when setting up a harddisk on the Amiga. Examples of this includes what DosType and MaxTransfer values to use.
A third-party alternative of the Mount command will now be included on all Amiga911 disks. The OS2.0 version will also from now on include standard device mount files.
The Most textviewer replaces xMore on Amiga911 disks for OS2.x, the reason for this is because it turned out that xMore really isn't that 2.x compatible. Most will now always be included on the A911Extras disks/packs as well.
New solution regarding the HDToolBox & HDInstTools icons on the Amiga911 disk! If the icon tooltypes needs to be edited, just do this and save the changes. Now select "HD Icon To Disk" from the WB menu, and the icon will be copied to the Amiga911 disk. This new icon will then have priority over the one present in the lzx archive.
A911Extras disk/pack can now include HDToolBox. It will also contain a special version of the SystemXtra script, and the System & Tools drawers have now been merged into a single SysTools drawer. There is also a new Docs drawer as well. AmigaGuide can now only be included on OS2.x versions of A911Extras.
FileMaster3 can now be added to AmigaOS 2.1 projects since it turned out that the 68000 version actually works with this OS version (it just crashes on 2.0 though). There are however a couple of workarounds involved, because certain functions will just crash the Amiga. One example is the internal ILBM viewer, which will be overridden by another added button.
New 8 color settings for DiskMaster2, FileMaster3 and Ordering. It's really recommended that these are used instead of the 16 color ones on Amigas with OCS/ECS chipset since they should be a little bit snappier.
If FileMaster3 is added to your project, the bgui_palette.gadget file will now be included as well. This makes it possible to configure all parts of FM3.
RTPatch is now included on Amiga911 disks for OS2.0. The reason for this is to solve the asl.library 37.x vs 38.x problem, where certain programs requires version 38.x of the library, while others just crashes with it.
The StartProgram script that's included on the boot disks have been cleaned up a little, and it will now only contain the stuff that is relevant to the actual programs present on the floppy disk.
If AmigaGuide support should not be included on the Amiga911 disk, a new very simple executable called MulTiView will be added to the floppy. Whenever it's run, MulTiView will open either the xMore or Most text viewer (which are now located in C:). The reason for this solution is to save on the Ram usage when Amiga911 are booted on low-mem Amigas.
Page 3 of "Configure system" in Amiga911 Maker has been slightly changed. The SFSTools & PFSTools options are now renamed to SFSformat & PFSformat, and a new SFSCheck option have been added. PFSDoctor is now a new selectable item in the "Configure programs" window.
The PrepCard option has been removed from Amiga911 Maker. This tool is only needed for setting up a PCMCIA SRAM card as RAM or storage device on a A1200 or A600, so it's usefulness is rather limited.

File manager: Directory Opus 5.91 for AmigaOS 3/4 and AROS
Since late 2012 the file manager Directory Opus 5 (formerly: "Magellan") became open source. After a year, a new update is available which fixes bugs.

With this release, the format of the configuration file has changed. Directory Opus 5.91 will load files of previous versions without any problems but when saving will convert them into a new format, which previous versions of the programm cannot read any longer.

Increased embedded font filename sizes
added/updated internal version checks of libs/modules to avoid crashes when users mix old and new setups
removed the ~1MB upper limit for the stack of launched programs (Environment/Cli Launching/Stack)
make default minimum stack size a bit bigger that 4000 everywhere (8192 for os3 , and 16384 for os4/mos/aros)
some cosmetic everywhere (like about window now contain more info, updating dopus5.guide to the latest one, and co)
more 64bit fixes: experimental dospatches (dopus/dospatch env) & some of modules works as expected.
fixed 2 bugs in xadopus.module which left unnoticed: trash of memory when close lister with content, and wrong unpacking of directories with half-same names
fixed most of cases when user want to use new version of dopus over old 5.82 to avoid crashes
reworked LowMemory handler
many OS3 only fixes (i.e, crash when OS3 environment palette window (configopus) closed, most of crashes because of mixing old and new componenets (like crash if dopus5.library missing or outdated), etc). Also now ks3.0 is minimum, not ks3.1 as it was with 5.90.
many OS4 only fixes(i.e, making dopus5 works with recent MUIs, fixing crash if "dopus/PatchWBInfo" environmental variable is set and the WBInfo patch is used,
many AROS only fixes (i.e, disks can now be hidden (Environment/Desktop/HiddenDrives, saving the FTP options now works, fixig of lister's backgrounds, fixing of deadlocks with AmiStart, drag mask for screens with high color depth, popup menu icon, etc)

"Tower 57" is supposed to become a shooter in retro-look, which can be controled with two sticks (on a gamepad) od mouse and keyboard - if until September 2nd preorders of 45.000 Euro will be collected. Currently 29.000 Euro has been spent for preorders.

In a status update the developers have announced, that the Amiga port of the game actually will be released: 46.000 is the first "stretch goal" of the campaign. The Amiga port then will be written by Daniel 'Daytona675x' Müßener (Cherry Darling).

Jérôme 'Glames' Senay's Ask Me Up is a puzzle game for AmigaOS 4 and MorphOS (as well as Android, Linux and Windows) in which you have to answer correctly questions on common knowledge, each with four possible answers. In the L and XL edition there is also a two-player mode. A demo version with 80 questions is available for free.

Michael Battilana (E-Mail) Event: Update on Amiga 30 Reykjavik
This friday the Amiga 30 anniversary will be celebrated in Iceland (amiga-news.de reported). As Michael Battilana of Cloanto (owner of the Commodore/Amiga copyrights and publisher of Amiga Forever) told us now, he will attend the show as well.

Furthermore he pointed out that they "will be a couple of dozen people, which is not much in absolute terms, so even having a website is a lot. On the other hand, it looks like almost 0.01 % of the population of the entire country will attend, which in this light makes it by far the most successful Amiga anniversary event of the year, or actually, one of the largest computing events in the world. There will be Amiga demosceners, developers, users, and people in general whose life has been affected by Amiga." In case you decide spontaneously to join as well, you might want to combine the event with the Reykjavík Culture Night (Menningarnótt) that takes place on Saturday. (snx)

Chris Young has ported his AmigaOS 4-port of the web browser Netsurf to AmigaOS 3. In contrary to the ports made available for the Amiga by Artur 'Arti' Jarosik - which unfortunately are distributed with the same name - Young's version uses a native Amiga-toolkit,

Due to the use of Reaction, at least AmigaOS 3.5 is required. According to the author this latest version is an alpha version.

AmigaOS 4: Frogatto 1.2.22
The Jump'n'Run Frogatto is a combination of an open source engine with proprietary game data. For iOS and Blackberry a fee is required. Ports for desktop operating systems are availavble for free. Version 1.2.22 available for AmigaOS-4 was provided by Hugues 'HunoPPC' Nouvel and requires his library libboostyGfx.so, which accelerates the 2D-graphic operations using 3D-graphic hardware and which has been also updated.

New A1200 case: More than half of required money donated / MiST + RPi
Five days before the Kickstarter campaign for a new Amiga-1200 case will be finished (amiga-news.de reported), so far almost 52 % of the required money have been donated. The case is meant for existing A1200-boards as well as for the Amiga-Reloaded-mainboard developed by Individual Computers, the FPGA-computer MiST and for the Raspberry Pi and corresponds the original case, but is prepared for several extensions by pre-cuts.

Amiga Future (Webseite) AmigaOS 4: Update of KryoFlux-archive
Last year version 2.61 of KryoFlux was released for AmigaOS 4. Now the archive also contains the latest version of the Disk Tool Console (DTC). The AmigaOS-4 version of DTC was created on July 8th, 2015.

Using KryoFlux you can create images of all 3,5"-disks (of different systems as well) which contains all information - including the copy protection. Using the commmand line of DTC each function is executed. (snx) (Translation: dr)

Cracker scene: Unreleased Amiga port of "Mutant League Hockey" (AGA)
In 1994 Electronic Arts released the sport simulation Mutant League Hockey on the Megadrive. An Amiga port ordered by Ocean was never released although the port was almost finished.

20 years later the cracker group Scoopex obviously has found the original game and released it as "crack". We do not know any legal source of download. (cg) (Translation: dr)

12.Aug.2015 New "Commodore" trademark for Smartphones opposed (Update 2)
A few months ago, Massimo Canigiani from Italy started presenting himself as the alleged new owner of the Commodor trademark. His newly established British based "Commodore Business Machines Ltd." was going to sell Commodore Smartphones to retro enthusiasts.

But Canigiani didn't actually acquire the existing trademark, he simply tried to have a new one registered - his application is available publicly in the European trademark database. As of today, the status of his application has changed - it is now listed as "Application opposed".

The opposing party is the dutch C= Holdings, the current owner of the original Commodore trademark.

Now C= Holdings is also addressing this matter in a press release: The company announces the intention to defend its rights "vigorously".

Yesterday, Cloanto - owner of the copyright of most software released by Commodore and Amiga - issued a press release aswell, stating that Canigiani is not in a position to include software emulations of old Commodore computers with his smartphone since he does not have a license for the required firmware. Amiga Spiele News (Webseite) Jump'n Run: Preview of "Zerosphere"
In "Zerosphere" (Youtube-video) the surroundings of the player is presented blurred. But if the player "blinks" (fire button), it can momentarily look at the real world around it.

Amiga-Emulator: FS-UAE 2.6.0beta1 (2nd Update)
Frode Solheim's FS-UAE is available for Windows, Mac OS X, Linux and BSD and based on WinUAE and "includes an easy-to-use graphical configuration program which allows you to enjoy FS-UAE and Amiga emulation without writing configuration files.". Since the last stable version released in March (2.4.1), so far only developer versions have been released.

Changes in FS-UAE:

New option floppy_drive_volume_empty
Switched default key mapping for host backslash and insert keys
Use GLEW instead of GLee for OpenGL extensions
When not using FS-UAE Launcher, model A1200 defaulted to kickstart 3.0

Changes in FS-UAE-Launcher:

Changed tab panel appearance on OS X to match other platforms
Renamed language prefs to appearance prefs, added launcher theme option
Close login dialog before opening database refresh dialog
Settings UI for specifying empty floppy drive volume (or disabling it)
Added keyboard settings to configure equals/insert/backslash/less mapping
Added support for WHDLoad 18.1, set as default version
Replaced some icons, added new rom/ram icon
Fixed an issue with the new CPU selection

Meanwhile version 2.5.35dev is available.

Changes in FS-UAE:

Fixed bug (lockup) when quitting FS-UAE from Amiga side on some platforms.
Fixed a potential key repeat issue (could not reproduce original problem).
Load kickstart replacement from data files instead of embedding in executable.
Re-enabled serial port (was disabled in 2.5.31dev), fixed AROS Kickstart replacement.
Share serial port emulation code with WinUAE.

Known bugs:

When entering the GUI using modifier+F12, the modifier key(s) sticks in the emulated Amiga when you return to the emulation.
Graphical flickering in Workbench with non-cycle-exact emulation.
When starting FS-UAE from FS-UAE Launcher, accelerator flashs ROM writes are not persistent because the launcher uses a new copy every time.

Changes in FS-UAE-Launcher:

Added All Games / All Configurations to drop-down.
Nicer behavior when kickstart ROM for chosen model is missing.
Moved more warnings and information to status bar.
Fixed handling of downloadable games.
Use Fusion QT style on all platforms by default.
Default to Fusion Adwaita style variant when running under GNOME 3.
Show warning icon in settings if option is overriden by configuration.
Fixed OAGD.net locker uploader.
New additional configuration page.
Moved custom configuration (button) to additional config page.
Removed some “noise” from custom configuration and advanced settings.

2nd Update: (17:55, 08.08.15, snx)
In the meantime, FS-UAE 2.6.0beta1 has been released. It is intended as a semi-stable version for new users as a replacement for the latest stable release (2.4.3).

Improvements over version 2.4.3 include:

Updated emulation code from WinUAE 3.1.0.
Support for PPC emulation (can run AmigaOS 4.x) via QEMU-UAE plugin
More emulated hardware support (Toccata, A2061, Picasso IV, …)
Better support for modern OS versions due to using SDL 2.0
Built-in support for multiple displays, and fixes for HiDPI displays
The Launcher supports modern OS versions better due to using QT 5.x
Much improved FS-UAE Launcher user interface
FS-UAE mouse integration (Workbench cursor follows host cursor)
Updated internal kickstart replacement from AROS
Dual joystick/mouse mode for joystick port 0
Official builds for SteamOS (Linux + Steam runtime)
OS X apps are now digitally signed (Apple Developer ID)
Many bug fixes

AmigaOS 4: Directory Opus 4.18.44
In the lastest version of the file manager Directory Opus some minor bugs have been fixed.

Fixed directory sizes displayed in a lister when searching for a filename (or pattern) in multiple directories with the hunt command.
Fixed a hunt command failure to highlight the found file when the file was located in a subdirectory of the directory being searched. When the user selected the OK button in the "Shall I go there?" requester, the hunt command would display a requester stating that the file was not found but then load the directory where the file was located.
Fixed a crash in the Dopus4 text viewer. If Dopus4 was on the Workbench screen and the text viewer was open when the user quit the Dopus4 program, the viewer would crash (Grim Reaper).
Fixed a bug in Dopus_Print that prevented updating of the output filename in the requester.
Changed makefiles to create 'stabs' debug binaries and improve compiler output readability. All Dopus4 components will now display specific function information in a stack trace if there is a failure when running debug binaries.
Replaced all internal string functions and unbounded 'C' library string functions with size limited 'C' library string functions to eliminate possible buffer overflows.
Replaced all deprecated memory allocation functions with new OS4 memory allocation functions.
Replaced all deprecated message related functions with new OS4 functions.
Fixed all compiler warnings to make it easier to spot new warnings.
Added a missing Tooltype to the DirectoryOpus icon.
Changed the copyright data in about window.
Updated copyright data in english DirectoryOpus.guide.
Updated history files.

Super summer update of 17 Hollywood-plugins
Press release: The silly season just got serious! Airsoft Softwair is proud to present the ultimate 200+ binaries Super Summer Plugin Bash 2015! This is the biggest plugin update in the history of Hollywood! A grand total of 17 plugins have been updated and are now available in brand new versions. Because Hollywood supports so many different platforms, updating 17 plugins means that almost 250 binaries had to be updated, altogether these are over 50 megabytes of new plugin magic! All Raspberry Pi fans will be very happy to hear that all plugins are available in a Linux ARM flavour now too. Linux ARM support was introduced in Hollywood 6.0.

Retroguru (ANF) Sqrxz 3, Version 1.0 for Amiga OCS
A week ago, Retroguru supported by Frank Wille has released the game Sqrxz 3 for the Amiga. The ADF-file can be downloaded from the official homepage for free.

Frank Wille programed the game, Simon Butler and Anne Claire Riffaud Declercq designed the graphics. Virgile Metier was responsible for color reducing to match the Amiga OCS requirements and Alexander Wiklund for the chiptunes. Shahzad Sahaib and Denny Müller did take care of all the remainings things. For AmigaOS 4, AROS and MorphOS, Sqrxz 3 has been available for more than three years. (snx) (Translation: dr)

Using InstallerGen, developers can easily write installation scripts for their programms for the Commodore-Installer. The programm has a MUI-interface. AmigaOS 3.x as well as the MUI-class NList.mcc are required.
