Video: All about MiSTer FPGA
The YouTube channel 'My Life in Gaming' has published a video that goes into detail about the MiSTer FPGA board: what is needed, how to set it up, which consoles, computers, handhelds or arcade cores are supported. Supposedly worth watching even for long-time users. (dr)

Overview: The world of non-C operating systems
As an online portal, The Register provides news and analysis from the world of technology companies. In a recent article, the authors explore the question of what current commercial operating systems exist that were written before C was invented or that do not use the C programming language at any level or layer.

They explain that the Basic Combined Programming Language (BCPL), a compiled, system-oriented programming language developed by Martin Richards in 1966 and first implemented at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in the spring of 1967 (cf. Wikipedia entry) , was by no means just an insignificant transitional step, since it was used in two famous operating systems: so also in the TRIPOS operating system, which was later used as the original basis of AmigaOS.

Furthermore, an overview of programming languages and OSes based on them is given, for example Lisp with the OS Mezzano, Interim or ChrysaLisp. (dr)

Chris Hülsbeck songs: Album "Piano Collection II" released
Patrick Nevian is a hobby programmer responsible for games like Ambermoon Arcade or the 'Tales of Gorluth' series. He first combined his hobby and his profession as a music producer and pianist in 2008, when he interpreted songs from various Amiga games on the piano and released them as a free album.
The musician Chris Hülsbeck, well-known for his soundtracks for the Amiga games Apidya, Turrican or Rainbows, among others, became aware of this and released the album 'The Piano Collection' with the pianist in 2015 after a successful Kickstarter campaign.

Following a survey conducted in 2020 as to which Huelsbeck titles should be included on another album, Patrick Nevian has now released Chris Huelsbeck The Piano Collection - Volume II: The Players Choice, which can be ordered as a CD for ¤29.00 free shipping. Title List:
  • Apidya: War at Meadow's Edge
  • The Great Giana Sisters: Ingame music
  • X-Out: Main theme
  • Z-Out: Main theme
  • Jim Power: Main theme
  • Gem'Z: Credits
