IRC client: Wookiechat 2.4.1 beta 9
James Carroll has published a new beta version of his MUI-based IRC client Wookiechat for AmigaOS 3/4. Changes in beta 9:
- Beta 8: Made the "disable server tabs" option less buggy
- Beta 8: Included updated catalogs for svenska,deutsch,norsk,polski,hungarian
- Beta 9: Bugfix: Launching WookieChat before Roadshow was ready was preventing Wookie from working properly. I was forgetting to try reopening the bsdsocket.library interface when trying to connect
- Beta9: Bugfix: No more garbage characters bug when using cursor up/down to scroll through your input history. (used to happen at the end)
- Beta 9: Type /playing or /tunenet to show whats playing in TuneNet. It's not that useful a feature really.. I added it by request. It's something nice to play with, just for shits 'n giggles
- Beta 9: Bugfixed the "file comment" code for recieved files. It works on SFS partitions now (i dont think it liked OS3 either, but it should work now)
- Beta 9: All catalogs except spanish are up to date again
- Beta 9: Made the chat history buffer smaller (less wasted space), and increased the maximum outgoing buffer a little

MorphOS: Updates of MUICON, SSHCON, logtool and PowerTerm
Jacek Piszczek has published updates of the MUI-based consoles MUICON and SSHCON as well as of the Log-analyzer logtool. All mentioned tools requires the latest version of the MUI-terminal-class PowerTerm.mcc which was published yesterday.

Sound card: Prelude AHI driver v6
Thomas Wenzel has published version 6 of the AHI driver for the Zorro sound card Prelude. Changes in v6:
- Bugfix: It could happen that an application displayed crazy character garbage instead of input or output names.
- Code cleared: From the beginning of the development of the driver resources have been used which are no longer required.
Because the main server of Aminet currently works only with restrictions the driver is only available under the title link.
Important: The 24-bit modi of this driver make only sense in connection with the "Arpeggiator" digital-SPDIF modul for the Prelude and only then if there is appropriate 24-bit equipment. For the analog part or for normal CD-player the 24-bit modi will not supply a better sound than the 16-bit.

AmigaOS 4: Status update for Classic version
According to Hans-Jörg Frieden from Hyperion in a
thread
on amigaworld.net the OS4-Team will, after finishing the AmigaOne version, concentrate on porting the operating system to classic Amigas with PPC extension.
The main problem with the Classic version is the support of the drivers: Currently there are native drivers
for BVision-/CVision-graphic cards, the SCSI-Host of the CyberstormPPC as well as for the PCI-Busboard of Prometheus. If and in which way the Mediator-busboards will be supported with native
code is still not clear. But the existing PCI solution which is porvided by Elbox with its hardware should also work with AmigaOS 4.
There is still not a working driver for the SCSI-Host of the BlizzardPPC.
The question is how existing (68k-) drivers come along with the new memory management - according to Frieden some authors have not accurately followed the guidelines. Especially the DMA-drivers could become a problem. At the same time when the Classic version of AmigaOS 4 will be finished a list with compatible hardware will be published.
During the quarter of 2007 AmigaOS 4 for classic Amigas may be published. But the author points out that this is not an precise date.

Alfred Faust has released a second revised version of his AmigaOS 4 port of potrace. The program converts black and white bitmap images into free scalable vector graphics.
Input formats: pbm, pgm, ppm, bmp
Output formats: eps, ps, pdf, svg, pgm, xfig, gimppath (experimental)
The used conversion algorithm from the professor of mathematics, Peter Selinger, can be integrated from programmers in own projects via a link library.
