Toolbar icons: Amiga Image Storage System 2
Amiga Image Storage System (AISS) is a system for managing toolbar pictures under AmigaOS and comes with a big collection of default icons. The pictures are saved in two separate directories (standard images and further icons added by the user) which can be accessed via a common assign.
Important: AISS 2 is incompatible with earlier versions! The document 'Uninstall.html' explains how to remove older versions. (cg) (Translation: wk)

Charset conversion: codesets.library 6.0
The codesets.library allows applications to use codeset/charset tables via a unique interface and to convert between different charsets, e.g. within an email client from UTF-8 to ISO-8859-1.
Applications already using the codesets.library are among others the Instant Messenger 'Epistula' and the current "developer" versions of the known mailer software YAM.
The library (recently released under the LGPL) is available as version 6.0 for AmigaOS 3, AmigaOS 4 and MorphOSt. Next to the porting to AmigaOS 4 were numerous changes made in this version making it in some points incompatible with earlier versions.

MorphOS: MorphUp beta version 0.955
MorphUp is a packet manager for MorphOS written by Rupert Hausberger and it is now available

some optimations and bug fixes.
MorphUp is a packet management system as you can find in the Linux world, too.
You do not have to take care of the newest software versions by looking at every
corresponding website - so for missing libraries or MUI-classes. Instead of that
MorphUp organizes the installation, updates of single components and applications.

Freescale extends the PowerPC® architecture market with mobileGT™ platform
Opportunities for open source developers to design commercial and industrial applications based on MPC5200B microprocessor
AUSTIN, Texas - February 20th, 2006 - Freescale Semiconductor (NYSE: FSL, FSL.B) is supporting Power.org with a mobileGT development platform that taps into a large open source development community, helping drive the PowerPC® architecture into more commercial and industrial applications.
A collaborative effort between Freescale and Genesi USA, Inc., a new mobileGT Alliance member, introduces application opportunities based on the Power Architecture™ to members of Genesi's open source developer communities as well as Power.org member developers. The technology bundle combines Freescale's MPC5200B microprocessor based on the Power Architecture™ and Genesi's EFIKA reference platform with integrated open source software stack.
"This is a great opportunity to open vast new industrial and commercial arenas to the PowerPC architecture," said Anand Ramamoorthy, general manager of Freescale's infotainment, multimedia and telematics business. "Our membership in Power.org and collaboration with Genesi gives us a pipeline to migrate the outstanding capabilities of our mobileGT platform to a much broader range of markets. MobileGT customers will be able to simplify their product development process and add additional features available from the open source community."
The EFIKA is a high performance, small form factor design that features Genesi's Hardware Abstraction Layer and IEEE 1275 compliant Open Firmware (HAL/OF), which gives designers increased flexibility to reduce product development time, speed time-to-market and extend software development from one application based on the Power Architecture™ to another. The platform encourages developers to leverage the PowerPC architecture for their GNU/Linux, OpenSolaris, MorphOS and other operating systems and applications, providing performance and cost benefits for system designs and designers.
"For Power Architecture™ technology to continue its reach into new markets, developers need PowerPC-based platforms supported by open tools, a diversity of operating systems and a collaborative ecosystem," said Nigel Beck, Vice President Technology Marketing, IBM Systems and Technology Group and chairman of Power.org. "It is precisely this kind of collaboration between our members that we seek to foster in Power.org."
Future generations of mobileGT platforms are expected to continue to integrate functionality that supports the open source development community, providing the right balance of high performance, low-cost and low-power consumption for the industrial/commercial space.
