Font: TTEngine 6.4
TTEngine 6.4 is a bugfix release for three bugs unfortunately introduced in the previous one. The main bug was requesting mathieeesingtrans.library V38 while Workbench 3.0 and 3.1 has V37 of this library. This caused library initialization failure and revealed two bugs related to cleanup routine. Cleanup generated several Enforcer hits if called after failed initialization. All three bugs are fixed in TTEngine 6.4 release. Thanks to Halvadjian Georges, who reported the bug and hepled with debugging.

Amiga.SF (Website)

Diego Casorran Ports: HyperMail V2.1.7 and Flac V1.1.0
  • HyperMail to version 2.1.7, it is a program that takes a file of mail messages in UNIX mailbox format and generates a set of cross-referenced HTML documents. Each file that is created represents a separate message in the mail archive and contains links to other articles, so that the entire archive can be browsed in a number of ways by following links. (I remember you that YAM export his emails in UNIX format ;)

  • Flac to version 1.1.0, it stands for Free Lossless Audio Codec. Grossly oversimplified, FLAC is similar to MP3, but lossless. The FLAC project consists of: the stream format, reference encoders and decoders in library form, flac: a command-line program to encode and decode FLAC files, metaflac: a command-line metadata editor for FLAC files. "Free" means that the specification of the stream format is fully open to the public to be used for any purpose (the FLAC project reserves the right to set the FLAC specification and certify compliance), and that neither the FLAC format nor any of the implemented encoding/decoding methods are covered by any known patent. It also means that all the source code is available under open-source licenses.

Jabberwocky (Website)

Instant Messenger: Jabberwocky V1.4 - 2. Preview
Tom Parker and Matthias Münch published Preview 2 of the instant messenger 'JabberWocky' version 1.4 for Amiga computers. Jabber is an open XML protocol for the direct exchange of messages.

Connections with other instant messengers like AIM, ICQ, MSN and Yahoo is possible via gateways.

Beta-version-vownload: Jabberwocky030316.lha

Changes:
  • Fixed transperancy of icons in roster window (thanks to Jeff Gilpin)
  • Fixed long standing enforcer hit when removing contacts (also thanks to Jeff Gilpin as a side effect of the transperancy fix)
  • Fixed reply quoting (introduced in 1.4pre1)
  • Fixed unicode conversion of reply quoting (introduced in 1.4pre1)
  • Some support for displaying errors in the roster (but I haven't actually had any errors that trigger it, so it either doesn't work, or I haven't had any errors.
  • Fixed enforcer hit on startup when autoconnect is on and there is no account information (introduced in 1.3)
  • Roster icon remains on the event icon until all unread messages have been read
  • Fixed handling of messages from contacts that are not in the roster (introduced in 1.4pre1)
As you can see 1.4pre1 had quite a lot of problems, remember you shouldn't be using any prerelease unless you want problems. (ps) (Translation: sk)

A.D.A.: Seven new demos online
A.D.A., the 'Amiga Demo Archive' has undergone an extensive update and offers the following new demos:

  • Dream or Reality/Faculty and Nah Kolor. Famous slideshow from Faculty and Nah Kolor, featuring pictures by Unreal. Mostly fantasy inspired (dragons), this slideshow features some nice pictures.
  • Noname/Polka Brothers. Released at the South Sealand party in 1994 (ranking unknown). This is pure Polka Brothers style, meaning fast effects and lots of energy. Some nice fullscreen pictures and a stunning tune by Slide (as usual). A bit too short. Recommended!
  • Nonstop/DCS. "Dcs brings you the first 40kb sing-along karaoke intro ever featuring le ball du metaux, head objects, possibility to sing along, effects, secret breakdance mode, oldschool atmosphere and no greetings part". Need i say more? Released at The Party 1999 (1st place).
  • Sketch/Venture. Technically not really impressive, this demo features some amazing design, making it a very stylish little production. Released in August 1998 at Intel Outside 5 (3rd place).
  • Sumolysbryter/Ephidrena. Yes, the famous crew from Norway is back with a new demo! Featuring Loaderror, Cheetah and Zixaq, this demo was released at Kindergarden 2003 where it achieved first place. Very stylish design backed up by a nice elektro tune. High quality, as can be expected from the masters of design. More please!
  • Alien 2/Scoopex. Released at The Party 1998 where it ranked 1st at the demo competition. A 3D story demo with 2D effects in between. Cool music from Muffler and Virgill. Recommended if you are interested in 3D story demos.
  • Brain Overdrive/Software Failure. It's always easy to search for credits from Software Failure intros: Code: Ham, Gfx: Ham, Music: Ham, 3D: Ham (talk about multitalented). Originally released at Euskal 10 in July 2002, Ham released the final version some weeks ago. And a very fine intro it is!

TV-card driver: SuperTV beta version 0.8 for Mediator
Today Peter Gordon has released the beta version 0.8 of SuperTV (an alternative to the Mediator TV software by Elbox). This version fixes some bugs and offers new features.

Download: stv_beta_0-8.lha

Changes since the last version:
  • "Hide pointer" now has 3 modes: Never, Fullscreen only, and Always. F2 now cycles between never and always.
  • Added option to cycle through channels (ie hitting + at the last channel will cycle to channel 1).
  • Two new arexx commands: TV_INCCHANNEL, TV_DECCHANNEL. These increment and decrement the channel, taking into account the cycle channels settings
  • Added possibility to put in custom source number. This allows colour SVHS on some cards.
  • I think i've zapped the enforcer hits now.
  • You can now toggle fullscreen with F3

New Soms3D shots, English translation and requests
A new update has been released on the 'Anime Development for Amiga' page. Two new screen shots of Soms3D have been added, furthermore an English translation is now available. This translation is "beta", thus the ADA team is looking for someone to go and correct all the errors.

Furthermore the ADA team is looking for people who know Milkshape3D or a mesh animator which supports the MD2 format (used e.g. Quake2). Also raytracers are still most welcome in the ranks of the ADA team. (ps) (Translation: cb)

Demo scene: Home page for current Amiga demos & ASCIIs
Completely undetected, Dutch demo scener Jpv of the group Rave Network Overscan has been offering all demos and ASCII collections released since August 2001 for download on his homepage.

Former visitors of boards (mailboxes) which ran on Amiexpress or Fame will feel immediately at home there. The home page gets updated immediately after the release of new demos, intros, disk mags, slide shows, packs or ASCII collections. Thus, e.g. all publications of the recently held Kindergarten Party are available. All in all a good source for providing yourselves with material from the demo scence. (ps) (Translation: cb)
