Amiga RC5 Team Effort

RC5-64: 80% of the possibilities calculated
This world wide competition is aiming at cracking a 64 bit key by calculating all 18,4 trillions possibilities. To achieve this an uncountable number of computers is working together all over the world by using a small program to make free computing time available for calculating purposes. Since August 1997 is the Amiga-RC5-Team-Effort participating in this competition to bring the Amiga back into the public's awareness.

For the time being have 80% of the possible combinations been calculated. It is expected that the key will be cracked at the latest in 188 days. (ps) (Translation: wk)

A.D.A.

A.D.A.: Demo archive updated - new sort functions and much more
The Amiga Demoscene Archive (A.D.A.) has been updated. Here is the complete text containing all the changes:

Update with 6 new productions, including 5 party winners: Repugnance/Powerline (1st at Icing 97), Jesus was a demomaker/Ramses (1st at Euskal 6), Grid/Nature (1st at Mekka Symposium 1999), Real/Complex (1st at Saturne 2). Then we go way back in time with the first 1988 release on A.D.A.: Wild Copper demo/Wild Copper (aaahhh, the scroller on the workbench brings back some nice memories!). And then another party winner and a real classic in amiga demo history, Enigma/Phenomena (1st at Anarchy Eastern party 91)!!

Other news: it's now possible to sort the complete demo list by year (just select "view by release date" and press "refresh view"). Thanks to pVC on ANN for this idea. And we are working on a comment/vote system. It's not finished yet but it is already possible to register, vote and comment. So now it's in your hands to make this site much more interesting!!! More additions to the voting/comment will be added (like top demo charts,...).

What the future brings? More demos, demos and demos! Please think about voting/comments as it would really add something wonderful to this site! Enjoy! (ps) (Translation: wk)

Event: O.A.S.E. postponed until September 2002
Jürgen Schober of point.design writes: Again this year I am going to organize the O.A.S.E. - Open Amiga Southeast Europe Show in Graz (Austria). Unfortunately we are not going to meet the original date of the 20th of June.

The new target date is the weekend of the 14th and 15th of September 2002, in the Hotel Europa. We plan to have Amiga demonstrations of USB, PCI, PowerPC solutions and (I hope) OS 4.0 on the Amiga One.

Updated information may be found after 1st July at www.oase.at Unfortunately I can't put this undertaking on my homepage anymore, because of time restrictions. (ps) (Translation: dm)

Audio Player: AmigaAMP Final-Version 2.9
After Thomas Wenzel got his PPC running again, he compiled the final version (2.9) of AmigaAMP and offered it as freeware. Why? He doesn't have a lot of time to develop it more, and at any rate doesn't have time to support it. Bug reports und suggestions may be emailed but chances are they won't be answered..

Further Mr. Wenzel is making it known that the old mailing list (the one on MajorDomo) is being deactivated so no spam will be emailed through it. In the place of the mailing list a web-based forum will be opened, in a short while.

AmigaAMP is an audio player with a graphic user-interface. The mpega.library is used to decode on the 68K processors. The PPC version uses the AMP decoder. Furthermore the sndfile.library allows the playing of AIFF, WAV und 8SVX files. Sound is output successfully over the AHI Audio System.

Requirements:
  • AmigaOS 3.0 or higher
  • 68030-50MHz Processor or better
  • mpega.library (Aminet:util/libs/mpega_library.lha)
  • asyncio.library (Aminet:dev/c/AsyncIO.lha)
  • AHI audio system (Aminet:mus/misc/ahiusr.lha)

Download: AmigaAMP29.lha (545 KB) (ps) (Translation: dm)
