Coyote Flux: Mail Server Down
Since one week there have been some problems with the mail server of Coyote Flux. This caused the e-mail address to be unrecognized for almost one week now.

However, this problem should be fixed within the next two days. If anyone needs to send an e-mail urgently, there is another address that can be used: sharwin@thendic-France.com.

As soon as the old address is valid again, it will be posted on amiga-news.de. (ps) (Translation: ps)

Game: ScummVM CVS Update
Rüdiger Hanke has released a new CVS-snapshot of ScummVM for MorphOS, a program which interprets data files of classic LucasArts adventures, allowing the game to be played on the Amiga. New in this version:

  • "The Secret of Monkey Island" is 100% functional.
  • "Indy 4" can be completed. The "necklace bug" was eliminated.
  • The copy-protection used by "Day of the Tentacle" was overcome, and now the game may be played to the end.
  • Progress was made in supporting "Sam & Max," which is now playable through Bumpusville. Just don't look at the dragon heart and don't switch off the alarm
  • The format for save-games has been changed, so best to start the adventure from scratch.

Coyote Flux

Coyote Flux: JMiner revealed, AuroraRadio online
JMiner, a photogrammetry package developed on the Amiga, has been revealed. This program allows sequence- and image-based correction in three dimensions and can automatically map a two dimensional map from a (special) video stream. Take a look at the JMiner page to find out more!

One thing we would like to mention is that JMiner and the 3D engine are two completely different projects: The 3D objects are compatible with both engines but the renderer is by no means the same. The FPU-based J Miner runs slower when more polygons are added, the integer-based 3D engine will always run at one speed.

AuroraRadio is now officially online and is a Shoutcast radio station dedicated only to quality music. Every style and age of music is played, including Amiga modules and C64 SID music. Currently, the radio station is in its test phase, which means that sometimes the server is down, but under normal circumstances it should be available 24 hours a day...!

There are a lot of other big secret hard- and software projects going on right now, although we cannot say anything about it yet. However, this will change when release dates get closer. Be prepared for something unexpected! (ps)

SOMS (Gameboy Advance) Group seeks Amiga Programmers

Sylvio K. wrote:

It's been quiet for a while with SOMS, the action-adventure, because we haven't had any suitable programmers for the Amiga version. Therefore we decided to focus on Gameboy Advance SOMS for the time being.

As soon as we find new programmers for the Amiga version, we'll continue with it. Therefore I would like to make the following public appeal: Whatever programmer has interest in working with us, no matter if it's C, E, or other languages (except AMOS, and it has to support CGX) please send an email to sylvio.k@gmx.de.

C64 as WWW server
Is there anybody who did not formerly have a C64 as a computer and does not remember with some melancholy the time where you knew the meaning of each bit and byte and could create wonderful things with some magic 20 or 30 written basic lines?

Actually the C64 is past because it is much too small and too weak for the high demands of the Internet-epoch. Nevertheless some C64 still run on Internet.

Here is the address of a WWW-server (title link) which works with a C64. The only extension being added is an interface card with unbelievelable 38400 bps data transfer rate.

The source code is free available and it is a good inspiration for anybody who has to implement an IP-stack on a 8- oder 16 bit computer. (ps) (Translation: dr)

Please read the important installation hints.

Changes since last release:

  1. Type-4 messages are now parsed and displayed.
  2. The menu bar has now been added. The Prefs window no longer opens by default.
  3. The Debug window still opens by default (I need it) but it can be closed and re-opened with the menu.
  4. The status in all message packets is now sent to the GUI as well.
  5. Requesting offline messages doesn't seem to be working.
  6. The program no longer crashes Amithlon. I don't know why, but I'm happy.
