WHDLoad: New packages until 01.07.2011
With WHDLoad you can install games and scene demos on your harddrive which were originally published on disks. Additionally several incompatibilities with new Amiga models are fixed.
The following installers have been added or updated since our last message:
- 26.06.2011 improved: Alien Breed 3D (Team 17) slave rewritten, CD32 version supported and more (Info)
- 20.06.2011 improved: Dennis (Ocean) complete re-write, supports ocs version, blitter waits added, joypad support, supports cd32 version (Info)
- 18.06.2011 fixed: Puzznic (Ocean) now works with WHDLoad 16.9+ (Info)
- 16.06.2011 new: S (Skarla) done by Psygore (Info,Image)
- 16.06.2011 new: When We Ride On Our Enemies (Skarla) done by Psygore (Info,Image)
- 08.06.2011 improved: Shaft 7 (Bomb) slave rewritten, supports the 3 revisions (Info,Image)
- 07.06.2011 new: Web of Terror (Impressions) done by Abaddon (Info)
- 07.06.2011 new: Legacy (Hexodus) done by Abaddon (Info,Image)
- 07.06.2011 improved: Demon Blue (MicroValue) complete re-write, trainer, joypad support, buttonwait added (Info)

MorphOS/AROS: GrafX2 2.3
Fabien 'Fab' Coeurjoly's MorphOS-port of the graphic programm GrafX2 is available in version 2.3.
Originally Grafx2 is a paint programm for MS-DOS similar to Deluxe Paint which now is based on SDL.

At the beginning of the last month a version for AROS was published. Additionally a port of the SVN-version 1749 of version 2.3 for AmigaOS 4 is available.

AmigaOS 4: XRoar 0.25.1
XRoar ported by Ventzislav Tzvetkov emulates the 8-Bit-systems Dragon and Tandy TRS-80 Color Computer.
For the emulation a ROM-image of the computer is required which is not part of the distribution ist. The archive includes a free minimal firmware which is not very compatible but should work with some of the games.
Changes:
- New GTK+2 user-interface
- New GtkGLExt video module
- Fixed initial TV type bug
- Handle >1 channel in tape audio files
- New audio options: -ao-rate, -ao-buffer-ms, -ao-buffer-samples, -volume
- New options: -kbd-translate, -disk-write-back

- New Linux joystick module
- CPU emulation accuracy improved [from doc by Darren Atkinson]
- Tape audio feedback while loading CAS files (AUDIO ON)
- Tape reattach bug fixed

- Added ability to print to file or pipe
- Ability to define new machines or cartridges
- Fixed crash bug accessing non-existent disk side 2

aoOCS: Amiga-OCS-reimplementation based on Wishbone
With aoOCS a reimplementation of most of the functions of the Amiga original chip set (OCS) and of the computer itself was published on opencores.org.
This is compatible to Wishbone. Currently aoOCS runs on FPGA-boards of a Terasic DE2-70.

ACube at CusPlay (2. and 3. July, Pisa/Italy)
On 2. and 3. July in Pisa the CusPlay will take place which is an event for retrogamer, comic fans and cosplayer. ACube will take part and present the Minimig as well as the Sam4x0-models.

Amiga-Demos as video stream
Andreas Hirsing has created a video stream with a website on which Amiga demos and Amiga mods can be played.
In the end a video stream is supposed to be created which only consists of free clips.

AmigaOS 4: Spreadsheet Gnumeric 1.8.4 for AmiCygnix
Edgar Schwan has ported a new version of the spreadsheet Gnumeric for his X11-environment AmiCygnix (screenshots: 1, 2). Changes:

MorphOS: Fortis 1.2
Fortis by Encore Games is a 2D-Shooter with 3D-background which is similar to the Amiga classic Super Stardust. The MorphOS version can be downloaded for free. If you ant to register the game you either can purchase the iPhone-/iPod-version or to advertise for the game.
In version 1.2 less processor performance is used and support of USB-joysticks was added.

Viva Amiga: Appeal for donations for documentary
Viva Amiga is a documentary film of the American Zach Weddington.
Under the title link an appeal for donations was started in order to be able to continue the filming. After meetings with Jeff Porter, Dave Haynie, Bil Herd and Andy Finkel, RJ Mical and Eric Schwartz will be interviewed as well.
Until 20. July at least 25.000 US-Dollar are required and already 62 % were donated. You need to have a credit card. (snx) (Translation: dr)

Retrospect: Jeri Ellsworth's "Amiga on a Chip"-project
In a clip on Youtube, Jeri Ellsworth presented her (not working any longer) "Amiga on a Chip"-prototype which similar to other projects emulates the customchips of the Amiga in a FPGA to make possible a remake of the computer.
The project is from the year 2005 and apparently was meant as successor of the C64 DTV. The interested producer canceled because of the low demand for such a toy. (cg) (Translation: dr)

Web-Browser: Netsurf 2.7
Artur Jarosik has published a new update of the AmigaOS-port of the browser NetSurf. Some features of the original project were implemented now and additionally these improvements were added:
- added dropdown Url textbox showing recently entered addreses (beta;)
- information of each button function
- linked with libpng 1.2.44
- linked with libjpeg v8c
- cookie support for ppa.pl
- restart by clicking on reload with RMB or F7
- quick play multimedia using GetVideo with F4
- proper display of scalled images (eg. amiga.org poll bars)
- possible speedup by setting incremental_reflow to 0
(needs experimenting)
- labels for bookmarks
- compiled for 060
- save page as pdf
- ffplay with gui (port by Piotr Bandurski)
