Michal 'kiero' Wozniak (ANF)

MorphOS: New version of 'ShowGirls'
'ShowGirls' is a picture viewer from Michal 'kiero' Wozniak that includes image processing functions and combines features known from MiniShowPicture, ShowPPC and other similiar products (Screenshot 1, Screenshot 2).

Some of the features:
  • Easy browsing of directories (with mouse and keyboard)
  • Lots of supported file formats thanks to Datatypes system.
  • Nice MUI GUI
  • Image processing options like resizing, balance, smoothing, cropping and a lot more
  • Saving of images in JPEG or PNG
  • Loading/displaying images with alpha channel
  • Scaling image display to fit in the window (separate control over enlarging and reducing)
  • Scrolling/zooming of big images
  • Drag&drop of files/directories to be displayed
  • Optional bilinear filtering of the displayed image
  • Notification (refreshing of list of files when new files are copied in/removed)
  • Thumbnailes generator (with templates) (Example)
  • 2 browser modes (names list or thumbnails)
  • Thumbnails browser optimized for viewing pictures taken with digicam (very fast thumbnail creation).

Changes in this version:

Fixed:
  • ShowGirls icon is used as appicon when application is iconified.
  • When starting without param sometimes there were trash in string gadget.
  • Region marking was inaccurate.
  • Problem when viewing small images, like icons, etc.
  • Levels operator. Formula was slightly broken. If somebody misses old mode then I can re-add it.
  • Other smaller or bigger bugs.
New:
  • Bugs (probably).
  • Using NList class for list of files. Added date and filetype displaying. Sorting works on any of them, including secondary sorting criteria (press SHIFT and select second column to sort by).
  • Thumbnails in directory browser. Adjustable thumb size and border. Thumbnails cache (with several compression methods and other options). "Reduced memory usage" mode. Utilizing special properties in JPEG's created with digital cameras (results in more than 10 times faster thumbnails creation!!)
  • Much faster finding of next/previous picture.
  • Lossless JPEG transformations (Tools/JPEG Transform). Makes it possible to rotate and flip JPEG images without decompression/compression, so without loosing quality.
  • Much faster image scrolling. Scrolling is now also more precise (subpixel accuracy).
  • Improved zooming control (separate control over zooming and shrinking).
  • Possibility do filter out .info file and non-image files.
  • Added tooltypes support (FULLSCREEN and BROWSER).
  • Added BROWSER CLI param. The default window now doesn't have it enabled.
  • Improved Thumbnailer module:
    • Suffix different than .info can be specified.
    • Suffix can now also be replaced instead of only added.
    • When scaling image aspect doesn't have to be preserved.

  • Zooming image in/out with mouse wheel.
  • Added default values to some sliders. Try to doubleclick on knob to set to default position (in balance, levels and probably some others too).
  • Added mask shape selection to median filter.
  • Added "border mode" to resize operator. Works the same way as in ImageFX.
  • Now it's also possible to delete directories (a bit limited though. You can't unprotect files for example).
  • Improved filerequester when saving. Uses path and filename of currently loaded image, and automaticaly replaces extension to match selected save format.

Amiforce (ANF)

Amiforce Redesign
CJ-Stroker has reworked amiforce.de from ground up. The frames are now past, the usage of the new site should now be very user friendly because of a "navigation history". Some spots need some finetuning according to the author but it is being worked on.

With the redesign new rubrics find their way onto the page, planned is among other things an OS4 project section. At latest with the existing of according hardware will a special aspect lie on the new AmigaOS.

The site is optimized for a resolution of 1024x768 and should work with every browser except Opera that causes some problems. The compatibility with Amiga browsers was important here.

For constructive critics and suggestions to improve the site is the author always eager to listen to. (cg) (Translation: wk)

New AmiBlitz distribution with numerous improvements
From now on there's a much improved AmiBlitz2 distribution available for download. Because of the many changes and their size an update archive for an earlier distribution doesn't make sense anymore. Update archives will be available with the next version.

Unfortunately, many things were missing in the last distribution so that a seamless working wasn't possible. Thanks to Marco Möring aka Blackbird without whom the bugs and incompleteness of that distribution would probably never have been noticed. Next to Marco my thanks go to his wife Margit Möring. Together we three could translate further guides into German. Thanks go of course to Bernd Rösch and Thilo Köhler who work without a break on the future of AmiBlitz2.

Changes:
  • Much improved install/deinstall scripts.
  • After the installation are all settings immediately available.
  • After the deinstallation is the archive in its original condition and can be installed again in the particular version.
  • New Ped.prefs for the NEWCOLORMODE. Important: works only in screenmodes with 8/16 colours.
  • More German translation of AcidGuides.
  • Two versions of all (English/German).
  • Further includes by Thilo Köhler.
  • New Usermacro.guide.
  • Many errors removed.
  • Contains now many missing components, e.g. MUI2.res.

AmiBlitz2 reference manual in HTML:

Thanks to Markus Rütter is the reference manual for Blitz2 now available in an HTML version. Next to the online version on Amiforce the manual is available for download, too. Thanks to Markus Rütter who kindly gave the permission to do so.

News about the German manual:

At the moment is a PDF version of this manual being worked on. The available Postscript version can only be opened and printed with Pagestream. The PDF version will follow soon. So everybody can now print his/her manual. Planned is for now a version for the print of pages in A4 size. These can perfectly be put into a file. Thanks go to Andreas Röhr aka trion who really helped me very much. Thanks go also to Silvio Kurze aka MangaClub who made a first conversion. (cg) (Translation: wk)

OnyxSoft mailing list

OnyxSoft: Updates for JoinSplitter and TheMPegEncGUI
The Swedish developer group OnyxSoft introduces Adam 'ChaOzer' Waldenberg who is an Amiga and now also MorphOS developer for many years as a new member. Additionally there are updates of the programs JoinSplitter and TheMPegEncGUI. Others are supposed to follow.

TheMPegEncGUI is a graphical user interface for the following MPEG-Audio-Encoders:
  • MusicIn (68k or PowerUP)
  • Pegase (68k or WarpOS)
  • Ncode (68k, PowerUP or WarpOS)
  • Lame (PowerUP or WarpOS)
  • BladeEnc - (68k or PowerUP)
  • MP3Enc (68k)
  • Ogg Vorbis
  • MPEGA (68k, PowerUP or WarpOS)
In version 2.41 now the rawbyteorder-function works. Besides this a bug has been cleared when putting back the estimated time of completion.

And here are the changes in version 1.16 of JoinSplitter which is a program that can split or join bigger files:
  • Worked around a bug in the GUI-engine which made the Splitter part crash under OS4
  • Reworked the gauges a little to be more sensitive to different window border sizes
  • Fixed a bug in one of the split modes if memory was running low. It would generate the wrong size for the splitted files
  • Fine-tuned the conversion between kilos (1024<->1000)

Spiel: ToT - Tamar needs new land!
For the third time the popular action 'Tamar needs new land!' gets started.

Since Tamar is once again completely settled new regions have to be opened to give space to new settlers.

These opportunities are really rare and you should use these! On September, 1st there's such an opportunity. Start with other players under the same conditions and show them that you are the one who should get the emperor's crown!

Learn about regions of Tamar that no man has entered before. Be challenged by dragons, undead and other creatures and show that you can compete with other real people.

Hint 1: Our price (250,- Euro) for the first emperor of Tamar who founded his/her empire after January, 1st 2004 can still be won and we would be pleased if you'd be the winner (rules for this can be read in the referring action in the ToT forum).

Hint 2: Enter the keyword 'Shareware' in the serial field when registering for ToT to play for free for some time. A round fee will be demanded when you are deeper into the game. Enter in the notes field that you want to start on September, 1st on new land.

Enjoy playing ToT. (ps) (Translation: wk)
