Audio: AHI/PPC 6 nur für MorphOS und AmigaOS 4
Martin Blom, Entwickler des Soundkartentreibersystems AHI, hat noch einmal
herausgestellt, dass es weder für PowerUp noch für WarpUp eine AHI-Version
geben wird. Einzig eine PowerPC-Version für MorphOS sei erhältlich, und
eine Version für AmigaOS 4 sei geplant.
Hier die Original-Meldung:
Yes, indeed, today is November 7th, not July 11th. Anyway, I've been asked to clarify one thing
regarding the PPC version of AHI. There will be no WarpUp version, nor
will there be any PowerUp version. The reason is that neither of these
two systems allow PPC code to be invoked from within an interrupt¹,
which is an absolute requirement for AHI. The current PPC version is
for MorphOS only. In the future, I hope to have an AmigaOS 4 version
as well.
1)While it should have been obvious by reading the PowerUp documentation,
there is nothing in the WarpUp documentation or the actual design that
suggests that it will not work; in WarpUp, it could be possible
if the implementation had allowed it. In any case, the days when I could
be bothered to write for a mixed CPU system are since long gone..." (ps)

Quake2 Amiga-Port erhältlich
Quake2 für AmigaOS ging auf der WOASE-Messe in London am 2. November
2002 offziell in Verkauf. Das Spiel wurde in einem Deathmatch zwischen
drei Amigas demonstriert. Es lief ein Custom-Level, der speziell für
die Messe entwickelt wurde. Der Netzwerk-Server war ein PC, um zu
demonstrieren, dass Quake2 für AmigaOS es unterstützt, mit PC-Usern
über TCP/IP im selben Multiplayer Netzwerk zu spielen, obwohl natürlich
auch ein Amiga als Server verwendet werden kann. Das Quake2-Paket für Amiga
enthält ein komfortables Installer-Script sowie eine startup-GUI und
Amigaguide-Dokumentation, zuzüglich der Original-Version von Quake2 für
Windows, die die Datenfiles enthält.
Über 55 Mods für Quake2 werden über verschiedene Kanäle - einschließlich des
Internets - zur Verfügung gestellt werden.
Quake2 für AmigaOS wird im Laufe dieser Woche bei Ihrem lokalen Amiga-Händler
verfügbar sein. Die Preise können je nach Händler unterschiedlich sein.

Sendo Z100 wird nicht erscheinen
Rückschlag für Bill McEwen: Das Sendo Z100 wird nicht erscheinen.
Noch in seinem Executive Update
ging McEwen Anfang November 2002 unter Punkt 6 davon aus, dass das Sendo
Z100 mit den "SmartPhonePacks" ausgeliefert werden wird.
In dem Artikel von Heise "Rückschlag für Microsofts Handy-Betriebssystem"
(siehe Titellink) wird klar, dass es mit dem Markteintritt für Amiga Anyhwere
über dieses Handy vermutlich nichts werden wird.
Sendo gibt in einer Sondermitteilung Folgendes bekannt:
»Sendo hat das Entwicklungsprogramm für ihre Smartphones auf Basis von
Microsoft Windows for Smartphone 2002 Software eingestellt. Als eine Folge
davon wird das Sendo Z100 nicht auf den Markt kommen.
Wir bedauern das zutiefst. Es war eine sehr schwerige Entscheidung,
insbesondere weil wir durch das Z100 die führende Position bei der Entwicklung
von Smartphones erworben hatten. Wir sind sehr enttäuscht, dass wir das Z100
nicht auf den Markt bringen.
Gleichzeitg freuen wir uns aber, dass wir heute mitteilen können, das wir die
Series 60 Plattform von Nokia für unsere Smartphones lizenziert haben. Wir sind
davon überzeugt, dass wir damit unsere führende Position bei der Entwicklung von
Smartphones in 2003 fortsetzen können.« (ps)

Pegasos in der Mikrowelle und drei weitere Bundle-Modelle
Nach dem erfolgreichen Auftritt von Thendic-France
und bplan auf der
World of Amiga South-East 2002
am vergangenen Samstag hat das Unternehmen zusammen mit bplan weitere
Neugikeiten rund um Pegasos bekannt gegeben:
Demnach seien die ersten vier Pegasos-Bundle-Pakete bereits fest eingeplant.
Der außergewöhnliche "VideoMicrowave" ist eine umgebaute Stahlmikrowelle mit
der Tür als LCD-Bildschirm und einem Pegasos-Board im Inneren. Informationen
hierzu finden Sie unter http://www.videomicrowave.net.
Die "Development Suite" ist eine Entwicklerumgebung für den Pegasos, Eclipsis
und Pegasos Server Stack. Der "Pega-shush" ist ein Home-Server für den
Dauerbetrieb für das Zusammenspiel mit anderer Unterhaltungselektronik.
Die Kommunikation findet über eine 802.11b Netzwerkkarte statt. Das
"Games Package" ist ein Angebot, dass sich speziell an Freunde guter Spielekost

Am 16. November wird Thendic-France in Polen auf der Amiga Show 2002
weilen und mehrere Pegasos-Geräte zum Testen auf Basis einer neuen ISO-Installation
mitbringen. Dort wird auch erstmals öffentlich die Pegasos Wireless Camera mit der
Anzeigesoftware auf einem iPAQ zu sehen sein (dieser stellt nur eine vorübergehende
Lösung dar, bis der Eclipsis-Prototyp fertig gestellt wurde).

ScummVM News: It's a SCUMMy job, but someone's...
ScummVM ist eine Engine, um alte Klassiker von LucasArts wie The Dig,
Indiana Jones 1+2 oder Sam & Max 1 auch unter AmigaOS und MorphOS nutzen
zu können.
Nach den Lizenzdiskussionen mit LucasArts ist der Kontakt zu dem
amerikanischen Unternehmen abgebrochen. Sofern LucasArts sich nicht mehr
meldet und Veto gegen die Software einlegt, wird nun eifrig an der
ScummVM-Release 0.3.0 gearbeitet, die folgende Spiele unterstützen wird:
- Zak McKracken (FmTowns 256 Color Version)
- Monkey Island (VGA Floppy and Enhanced CD)
- Monkey Island II
- Loom (CD Talkie version)
- Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis
- Day of the Tentacle
- Sam and Max Hit the Road

- Simon The Sorcerer 1
Die nächste große Release, 0.4.0, wird folgende Spiele
unterstützen:

- Full Throttle

Amiga to create games and other content for Microsoft Windows for Smartphone 2002 Software
Snoqualmie, WA, Nov 6, 2002 - Amiga, a leader in games and entertainment
software, today announced the release of games targeting Windows Powered
Smartphones. Using the Amiga Anywhere Content Engine and their new "App
Pak" technology, applications written for Windows Powered Pocket
PC handheld computers will now be available for Smartphones as well. In
addition, Amiga intends to build specific games and productivity applications
that take advantage of the unique characteristics of devices running Microsoft
Windows for Smartphone.

App Pak applications are distributed on memory cards. Users will be able
to purchase the cards from their retail store and immediately use them.
In less than 60 seconds, users can enjoy games and other applications
with just by inserting their card. Just insert the card in the appropriate
slot, click, and play. App Pak applications use little storage space on
local systems making them more functional for PDA and Smartphone devices
with limited resources.

when they want, from business productivity to entertainment," said
Mary Rose Becker, group marketing manager for Mobile Devices at Microsoft

Aminet CD #51 - Oktober 2002
Heute ist die neue Aminet CD #51 hier eingetroffen. Gefüllt mit über 500 MB
