AmithlonTV homepage online
Guido Mersmann:
We're proud to present you the new AmithlonTV. For all those out there who never heard about AmithlonTV here is a small summary:

The original AmithlonTV was made by Michael Ulbrich in the beginning 2002. Due a lack of time I took over his project and started a complete new AmithlonTV in June 2002. In the beginnig of November the hardest part was done.

Well, now at the end of November I came to a point, where I need more information about the cards out there. So here it is: The new AmithlonTV!

I made AmithlonTV for you, so I need your help to support all the cards out there. My personal card is already full supported! Your job, if you take em, is to test AmithlonTV with a TV card available and send me debug information. I need detailed information on the used card (name, vendor, internal and external connectors ...) and the used chips on the card. It's also required to send in the "AmithlonTV/Libs/TVCard_CardData/Autoconfig.card" file, which will be created when running the tool TVCardSetup. When you're able to use Windows it would be very helpful, if you could start "btspy" to create a setup logfile, which is also available on the AmithlonTV homepage in the Support/Download section.

On the AmithlonTV homepage you can also find a hardware list containing all tested cards. With your help this list will grow rapidly within the next weeks. 99% of the listed cards should at least deliver a picture on all available video inputs.

There is also a new mailing list "AmithlonTV" for AmithlonTV specific discussion available on our homepage. (ps)

GRex Petition status update
First of all we would like to thank you all for the support. Since Saturday 16:00 h up to now Monday 03:55 h 149 users have 'signed' and we to hope for more.

We had to slidely modify the Petition, since we did not know currently, which hardware documents Hyperion will need. Thank you at Steffen Häuser for these info. (ps) (Translation: sk)

Telepolis

Telepolis: Microsoft researchers - DRM no help against peer-to-peer file sharing
A team of four Microsoft researchers has come to the conclusion that DRM (Digital Rights Management) is no feasible way to act against peer-to-peer file sharing. According to the scientists, this also concerns watermark based copy protections systems, as devices with watermark detector are far less attractive to users than competitive products without detector.

The Telepolis acticle by Janko Röttgers is accessible through the title link. (sd)
