Amiga Future: Neue Vollversionen online
Pressemitteilung: Es sind wieder rund ein Dutzend neue Vollversionen im Software-Bereich der Amiga Future Homepage online.
Im internen Member-Bereich wurde außerdem die CD32-Vollversion von Beneath a Steel Sky online gestellt. Im Internen Member-Bereich haben nur Abonennten der Amiga Future Zugriff. User die noch keinen Zugriff haben sollen sich per eMail mit Realnamen und Usernamen vom Forum bei der Redaktion melden um freigeschaltet zu werden.
Viel Spaß mit der Software.
Wir suchen noch User die sich etwas um unseren Download-Bereich kümmern. Es soll für jede Datei eine ausfühliche Beschreibung in Deutsch und englisch geschrieben werden.

Workbench-Tool: WEBGround 1.1
WEBGround aktualisiert automatisch das Hintergrundbild der Workbench, beispielsweise indem es Bilder einer Webcam über das Internet herunterlädt. Version 1.1 enthält jetzt eine graphische Benutzeroberfläche für das Ändern der Einstellungen. (cg)

PPC-Hardware: Interviews mit den Machern von Sam440 und Panda
Der Autor der UAE-Distribution AmiKit veröffentlicht auf seiner Webseite zwei Interviews. Der italienische Amiga-Händler Massimiliano Tretene beantwortet Fragen zu Sam440, während Andreas Loong von gurumeditation.se zum Panda-Projekt Auskunft gibt.
Die beiden Interviews wurden Ende September auf der italienischen Veranstaltung "Pianeta Amiga" geführt. (cg)

WinUAE: AmiKit 1.2.4
Für AmiKit, eine Komplett-Distribution für WinUAE-Anwender, liegt ein Update auf Version 1.2.4 vor. Das Update muss über die in die Software integrierte Live Update-Funktion bezogen werden. Neuerungen in dieser Version:

AmigaOS 4: Docket 3.0 startet Tasks automatisch
Docket von Steven Solie ist ein Commodity das Prozesse zu vorgegebenen Zeiten automatisch startet. Es ist vor allem für Anwender gedacht, deren Rechner ständig läuft und in bestimmten Abständen diverse Aufgaben erledigen soll, wie beispielsweise das Anlegen von Sicherheitskopien wichtiger Datenbestände. Retro-Gaming: WHDLoad 16.7
Mit WHDLoad lassen sich Spiele und Szene-Demos, die nur für den Diskettenbetrieb gedacht waren, auf einer Festplatte installieren. Außerdem werden zahlreiche Inkompatibilitäten mit neueren Amiga-Modellen beseitigt. Änderungen seit der letzten Version:
- fix: the Snoop check for custom.bplpt's against BaseMem bounds was
broken on word writes on the 68030 (DJMike)
- fix: resload_LoadFile and resload_LoadFileDecrunch has silently not
loaded data without PreLoad, bug introduced in v16.6 (Bored
Seal/Psygore)
- new: option NoResInt/S add, which disables any interrupts during
execution of resload functions
- chg: if the Slave requires AGA and that is not yet enabled in
graphics.library WHDLoad calls SetChipRev to enable it, this
obsoletes the execution of SetPatch prior to WHDLoad
- new: WHDLoadCD32 a special WHDLoad version to be used on the CD³²,
check documentation for more info
- chg: registration fee in USD adapted due currency differences, EUR
and GBP unchanged
- chg: various enhancements on the install template

PlayStation 3 - Sony erlaubt Zweit-Betriebssysteme
Wie Golem unter dem Titellink berichtet, erlaubt es Sony Computer Entertainment, mit einem vom Kunden installierbaren Boot-Loader, die PlayStation 3 (PS3) mit einem weiteren Betriebssystem zu bespielen.
Der von Sony Computer Entertainment bereit gestellte "Other OS Installer" kopiert einen von externen Systementwicklern erstellten Boot Loader auf einen dafür vorgesehenen Bereich der PS3-Festplatte, von der mindestens 10 MByte Platz für das Gastbetriebssystem frei sein müssen.
Das Gastbetriebssystem kann auch als Standard-Betriebssystem eingestellt und bei jedem PS3-Start anstelle der weiterhin vorhandenen PS3-Systemsoftware geladen werden. (cg)

E-Mail: aktuelle YAM Entwickler-Versionen jetzt mit SPAM-Filter (Update)
Die aktuellen "Nightly Builds" des bekannten E-Mailers YAM verfügen jetzt über einen integrierten SPAM-Filter, eine kurze Beschreibung des aktuellen Stands ist im Changelog zu finden. Der Filter entstammt dem aus der Windows- und Linux-Welt bekannten E-Mailer Thunderbird und wurde von Thore Böckelmann an YAM angepasst.
Bei den sogenannten "Nightly Builds" von YAM handelt es sich um Entwickler-Versionen, die ausdrücklich noch Fehler enthalten können und nur von erfahrenen Anwendern benutzt werden sollten. Es stehen Versionen für AmigaOS 3/4 und MorphOS zur Verfügung.
