`14.Jan.2008`	ACube: Small delay in delivering Minimig Pressannounce: UUnfortunately some delays forced us to slightly postpone the shipping of Minimigs. We would like to offer our customers the usual high quality service as a sign of respect for the many orders we received so far. Therefore we need to delay the shipping of the Minimig that will start on February, 1st. Our apology and our thanks to all whom are waiting. We would also take the opportunity to give more details about the PSU needed for the Minimig. The board needs to be powered with a stabilized 5V, so you'll need a PSU which can deliver such power and with a jack connector. ACube Systems will also sell a Minimig bundle inclusive of an adequate PSU. This bundle will be available at the price of EUR 149 (excluding local taxes and shipping cost). With every Minimig sold will be included a 1GB SD Card. It's plenty of space for your ADF files. `13.Jan.2008`	AmigaOS 4 Classic: Mouse wheel support for ps2m mice Under AmigaOS 4 Classic, the problem existed until now that the existing drivers for PS2 mouse adapters (Cocolino, ps2m) provide the so-called Newmouse codes for mouse wheel movements, whereas the operating system itself as well as PPC-native applications solely support the wheelmouse standard, introduced with AmigaOS 4, for interpreting the mouse wheel. Thomas Rapp has now converted the WheelBusMouse driver belonging to the ps2m adapter to AmigaOS 4. The driver now generates IDCMP messages, introduced with OS4, for mouse wheel movements, that is, PPC-native applications should now respond to the mouse wheel again as usual. Since the author cannot test the changes himself, for lack of appropriate hardware, he is asking for appropriate feedback under the title link. Note: Older applications that are not converted to AmigaOS 4 are still dependent on Newmouse codes. In order to be able to use mouse wheels with these applications as well, the IPrefs call in the Startup-Sequence must be complemented with the "NEWMOUSE" switch. The goal is to solve problems with hardware and software that is brought along, or to execute a couple of games over the network again, too. Once again, we want to offer a flea market and a file sharing network for hardware and software, respectively, that is relevant to the Amiga. `13.Jan.2008` Amigaworld.net (Forum)	MeKa 2008: NatAmi developer board demonstrated In an English forum article under the title link, Gunnar von Boehn reports on the demonstration of the NatAmi developer board (Amiga History Guide page with photo) by Thomas Hirsch at this year's MeKa in Karlsruhe. According to this, unlike the Minimig by Dennis van Weeren, NatAmi possesses a virtually complete AGA implementation (including a 24-bit AGA mode together with 32-bit blitter), but in exchange, is based on very old FPGA chips with corresponding limitations. As in the original Minimig, the processor is not emulated, and is located on a daughterboard on NatAmi, which can theoretically carry any 680x0 processor, or alternatively, a Coldfire processor as well, according to the developer's statements. However, only a 68030 was employed until now, a board with 68060 processor is planned next. Booting the AmigaOS 3.x Workbench has only taken the blink of an eye, literally, on the NatAmi board. Furthermore, programs like Directory Opus, SysInfo and a module tracker as well as dragging screens, copper & voxel demos and games like Boulder Dash, BattleChess and Defender of the Crown were demonstrated on it. In this version, some wishes of our customers were implemented, e.g. the long awaited fullscreen mode. Additionally, we finally found the bug that made the startup of Amijeweled with OS4 a little bit nasty sometimes. Other features are a requester for error message handling and the ability to play sound simultaneously with other AHI programs. Our customers already received the update via email as usual. At amigaworld.net the author of this CD, the AmigaOS 4 developer Andrea Vallinotto has warned to use or copy this CD which is based on Moana . "Regarding the thread about the project Moana files, I'd like to point out some facts that I would like to acknowledge as an AW.net moderator. First of all, I'm the author of said port, done over an year ago on behalf of ACube, you can contact me directly at email removed . In the thread I'm referring to, you (and others) are discussing the content of the CD, some even had it running on MacMinis. Such ISO image not only contains parts of OS4 (a commercial product) but also contain modules that are NOT part of either OS4 for A1 nor Classic, and are fully copyrighted by me. I never gave permission to anyone, least this AmigaMac guy, to distribute these files. So owning and using those modules is breaching my intellectual property (IP) and is a clear act of piracy. So unless Aw.net is a forum which allows and is favorable to piracy, I suggest you post a notice on said thread and stop discussing about it. You can quote this message if you want. Up to this point, proper function on these special machines was either only possible after a long warmup-time, or it was not possible at all because the C128 is not 100% compatible to the C64. We have made the necessary changes and completed extensive tests with more than 40 variants of the C64 and C128 - even native C128 cartridge software is supported by MMC Replay! We have already changed the design of RR-Net a few months ago. The new shape might have looked strange to some customers, but with the release of MMC Replay, our plan should become obvious now: You can now fit MMC64, Retro Replay and RR-Net into one standard cartridge case. Or even a new search bar allows to quickly search for e-mails or sort them according to predefined categories. DiscreetFX is going to offer the program as cheap alternative for raytracing beginners. AmigaOS 4, AROS, possibly MorphOS 2.0, Mac OS X as well as Linux will be supposed to be supported. `15.Dec.2007` Cloanto (e-mail)	Cloanto: Cataloging Effort Reaches 10K Milestone Press release Udine, Italy - December 14, 2007 - Cloanto Italia srl, Amiga software developers since 1986, announced today that their Amiga cataloging effort reached the milestone of ten thousand disk-based applications. So far, Cloanto's effort focused on the cataloging of Amiga games and game-like educational titles. Reaching ten thousand titles (counting different major versions, but excluding minor variations) meant, among other things, processing several tens of thousands of floppy disk images, including format variations and non-exact duplicates, which have now been "handprinted". In practice, this data can be used to allow Amiga Forever users to search for games by title or keywords, to access multiple independent partner web sites with additional information and downloads, and to more easily play games without complex configuration work. Many Amiga enthusiasts already have a multitude of game floppy disk images on their PCs. Having access to this cataloging data, a future version of Amiga Forever will be able to recognize a disk selected by the user, automatically finding the required companion disks and starting the game with the correct (emulated) hardware configuration. All of this, with a simple click on a downloaded disk image (e.g. an ADF file). The handprinting technology used by Cloanto goes beyond traditional CRC32 file-level checksums which have commonly been used in the emulation community. Rather, Cloanto's software can analyze the images at the Amiga disk block and file system level, extracting precious information, ignoring simple modifications such as a saved game state or high score data, and applying other smart identification algorithms. In this way, more duplicates and disks that would otherwise go unrecognized are identified. Cloanto's cataloging project began in 2004. In 2005, a number of specification drafts (e.g. XADML, an XML-based application and configuration description format) were announced and published on the Amiga Forever site. At the same time, also with the help of numerous contributors, a database of applications was slowly being built, one title at a time. At Pianeta Amiga 2007, Cloanto announced that the "10K" milestone was near. The effort is now being expanded to content available in formats other than disk images, and to applications other than Amiga games and educational titles.
