jAMOS: AMOS-Reimplementation in Java
Freunden des vom Amiga her bekannten Basic-Dialekts AMOS steht mit der Alphaversion 0.1 von jAMOS nun eine javabasierte Reimplementation zur Verfügung.
Bereits zuvor hatte derselbe Autor mit jAMAL die AMOS Animation Language unter Java umgesetzt.
In der vorliegenden ersten veröffentlichten Fassung unterstützt jAMOS allerdings erst eine Teilmenge der AMOS-Befehle - und diese auch nur im Rahmen einer vereinfachten Syntax. Die Java-Reimplementation ist quelloffen und unterliegt einer großzügigen, BSD-angelehnten Lizenz.

Retro-Gaming: WHDLoad 17.1 (Beta 2)
Mit WHDLoad lassen sich Spiele und Szene-Demos, die nur für den Diskettenbetrieb gedacht waren, auf einer Festplatte installieren. Außerdem werden zahlreiche Inkompatibilitäten mit neueren Amiga-Modellen beseitigt. In Version 17.1, die die gleiche Versionsnummer trägt wie die vorherige Veröffentlichung, wird der Instruction Cache auf 68020-Prozessoren jetzt nicht mehr versehentlich aktiviert.
WHDLoad 17.1 ist eine Beta-Version, die über eine bestehende Installation von Version 17.0 installiert werden muss.

AmigaOS 4: Word Me Up XXL 1.52
Das kommerzielle Spiel "Word Me Up XXL" von Boing Attitude kombiniert Arcade- und Knobel-Elemente und liegt für AmigaOS 4 nun in der Version 1.52 vor. Die Demoversion wurde ebenfalls aktualisiert, eine aktualisierte MorphOS-Version soll in Kürze folgen.
Das Update beseitigt im Wesentlichen einige kleinere Probleme:
- Visual effects not enabled by default
- Improved handling of the sound system
- Better management of the joystick/joypad
- A few German translations were fixed

Hired Guns-/Dungeon Master-Klon: Cyber Blast 2
Cyber Blast 2 (Screenshots: 1, 2) ist ein "Dungeon Crawler" im Stil von Dungeon Master oder Hired Guns. Das Spiel wurde erstmals vor 12 Jahren über das Aminet als Shareware vertrieben, inzwischen ist die Vollversion beim polnischen Amiga-Portal PPA zum Download erhältlich.
Das Archiv enthält ein Installations-Script, mit dessen Hilfe sich Cyber Blast 2 auf Festplatte oder Disketten installieren lässt.

Wie A-EON Technology in der nachfolgend wiedergegebenen Pressemitteilung bekanntgibt, werden nun die First-Contact-Systeme des AmigaONE X1000 mit AmigaOS 4.1 Update 5 an reguläre Kunden ausgeliefert.
Letztere erhalten bei Erscheinen AmigaOS 4.2 kostenlos, während jetzt die Arbeiten am Update 5 für andere Plattformen beginnen. Der Preis des Systems beträgt bei drei zusätzlichen GB Arbeitsspeicher und doppelter Festplattenkapazität gegenüber der Grundausstattung 1915 Britische Pfund zzgl. Mwst. und Versand.

A-EON Technology and Hyperion Entertainment are pleased to announce that the AmigaOS 4.1 Update 5 CD, exclusively created for the AmigaONE X1000 "First Contact" system has gone gold. The professionally re-mastered CD will be supplied in a printed boxed set along with copies of the AmigaONE X1000 and AmigaOS 4.1 "Quick Start" guides.
Steven Solie, Hyperion Entertainment's AmigaOS Development Team Lead said, "The team worked hard to reach this important milestone in the development of the Amiga Operating System. Firefox-Portierung: Status-Update für Timberwolf
Thomas Frieden hat wieder ein Status-Update für die Firefox-Portierung "Timberwolf" veröffentlicht. Dass es in den letzten Wochen keine Status-Updates gegeben habe, lag an der "langweiligen" Natur der zuletzt gemacht Fortschritte wie der Beseitigung von Fehlern oder der Implementierung fehlender Funktionen.
Erwähnenswert sei, dass Timberwolf für seine graphische Benutzeroberfläche inzwischen das Farbschema des Systems verwendet (Firefox verwendet ein eigenes Toolkit für seine Benutzeroberfläche, das normalerweise Systemeinstellungen ignoriert). Weitere Neuigkeiten seien laut Frieden "in den nächsten Tagen" zu erwarten. (cg)

Jump'n Run: Bonuslevel für Mr. Beanbag
Für Amy Worthingtons kürzlich veröffentlichtes Jump'n Run Mr. Beanbag wurde jetzt ein erster Bonuslevel veröffentlicht (Youtube-Video). Da die Option im Spiel fremde Level nachzuladen noch nicht implementiert ist, wird der Bonuslevel als separates Executable vertrieben.
