Video: Retro-Recipes-Episode about Amiga 4000 used for Apollo 13 and Titanic
After introducing an Amiga of the former video game developers Team 17 (amiga-news.de reported) in the latest issue of his video series called "Retro Recipes", Christian 'Perifractic' Simpson has presented an Amiga 4000 which supposedly was used for producing the films "Apollo 13" und "Titanic".
This computer also is being sold by auction. Currently over 1600 US-Dollar are bid. On this website you can get more information about the Amiga.

Programming language: AmiBlitz 3.7.1
For about a week version 3.7.1 of the Basic development environment AmiBlitz has been available.
Additional to bug fixes, the "main focus laid on improving FPU-handling". This is the first update after about four years provided by Sven 'honitos' Dröge.

Print magazine: Amiga Future, issue 142 - preview and excerpts
The full colour preview and excerpts of the Amiga Future issue 142 (January/February 2020) have been published online now at the title link. Among itsa topics are a show report about Amiga34, the third part of the AmigaOS 3.1.4 special and a special about FPGA Amiga clones.
The Amiga Future magazine is available as an English and a German printed magazine and can be bought in full colour directly from the magazine's editorial office as well as several Amiga dealers.

AmigaOS 4: Updated version of XSane 0.999 for AmiCygnix released
Under the title link a new version of the scanner software XSane for AmiCygnix was released. The latest versions 0.999 of XSane and 1.0.27 of the Sane backends are included (screenshot).
Currently only scanners with USB port or network interface can be used.

Press release: Amiga Forever 8 "R3" (8.3.1.0) released, consolidating more than 75 documented fixes and enhancements, and numerous minor improvements from previous early access updates. AmigaOS4: UFRaw 0.22 for AmiCygnix
Edgar Schwan has ported the RAW graphics editor UFRaw to his X11 environment AmiCygnix (screenshot). UFRaw is a tool for editing and converting RAW graphics. It is based on Dave Coffin's "DCRaw" and supports a lot of formats.
UFRaw can be used as separate tool or as plugin for the picture editing software "The Gimp". While installing UFRaw, "Gimp" is detected and the installation of the plugin is offered.
Features:
- Supports various RAW image formats (based on "DCRaw V9.26").
- Can be used as a Gimp plug-in (needs an already installed Gimp 2.6 package).
- Is able to read and write Exif data (exiv2 V0.25). The tool "exiv2" is also included and can be called via a shell.
- Supports color management with "Little CMS 2" (lcms2 V2.1).
- A new version of "Lensfun" (0.3.2) with the support of many new cameras and lenses is integrated. Lensfun is a library for the removal and simulation of photographic lens distortions.
- New features compared to the last version 0.19:
- Saving now also supports the file format "fits" (Flexible Image Transport System), a format developed by NASA.
- Support for JPEG2000 graphics is now integrated.
