RetroArch: Versionen für WarpOS und MorphOS angekündigt
RetroArch ist ein modulares Retro-Emulatorsystem, über das amiga-news.de erstmals am 28. Mai 2025 berichtete. Nach den bereits angekündigten Versionen für AmigaOS 3.x (68k) und AmigaOS 4 (PowerPC) hat Entwickler Steffen Häuser nun auch Adaptionen für WarpOS und MorphOS in Aussicht gestellt.
Laut Häuser läuft die WarpOS-Version bereits mit voller Framerate auf einem PCI-PowerPC-Board mit 900 MHz G3, die MorphOS-Version wurde erfolgreich mit einem Mirari-Board getestet. Videos zu den laufenden Betaversionen für AmigaOS 4, MorphOS und WarpOS sind über die Discord-Channels von Amigans und MorphOS einsehbar. Zum Einsatz kamen ein X5000 (AmigaOS 4) sowie Mirari-basierte Systeme (MorphOS/WarpOS).
Technisch basiert die MorphOS-Version wie auch die OS4-Fassung auf RetroArch 1.21, der aktuellen Version auf dem PC. Die WarpOS- und die 68k-Version setzen auf RetroArch 1.19.
Ein Großteil der wichtigsten Cores wurde bereits für MorphOS und WarpOS kompiliert. Einige Cores - etwa MAME2009 - funktionieren auf WarpOS jedoch nicht, da sie zu groß für das eingesetzte elf2exe2-Tool sind. MAME2003Plus laufe gegenwärtig dagegen problemlos.
Wie bei den anderen Versionen ist auch der Zugang zu den Betaversionen für MorphOS und WarpOS gegen eine Spende möglich. Die finalen Versionen sollen später kostenlos über Aminet, OS4Depot und MorphOS Storage veröffentlicht werden. (nba)

Musik-Album: Remute² für den Amiga angekündigt
Der Elektronik-Musiker Remute (Denis Karimani) hat mit Remute² sein erstes vollständig auf dem Commodore Amiga laufendes Album angekündigt. Der Release erscheint pünktlich zum 40. Geburtstag des Amiga.
Remute² umfasst 15 neue Tracks und beinhaltet zusätzlich eine eigens programmierte grafische Benutzeroberfläche (GUI) mit 3D-Visuals, die in Echtzeit auf den Systemen abgespielt werden - empfohlen wird das Amiga CD32, unterstützt werden auch Amiga 1200 und 4000 mit CD-ROM sowie gängige Emulatoren.
Das Album kann als professionell gepresste CD im Digipak für 26,99 Euro vorbestellt werden und enthält zusätzlich das digitale Album in MP3 oder FLAC. Als Erscheinungstermin wird der 4. Juli 2025 genannt. (nba)

Podcast: Ewig Gestern über B.C. Kid (Bonk's Adventure)
In der aktuellen Folge 147 des Podcasts "Ewig Gestern" dreht sich alles um den beliebten Plattformklassiker Bonk's Adventure - ursprünglich für TurboGrafx-16/PC Engine erschienen und später auf diverse Plattformen portiert, darunter auch der Amiga, wo das Jump'n'Run-Spiel unter dem Titel "B.C. Kid" bekannt wurde. Die Hosts tauchen in Gameplay, Leveldesign, technische Umsetzung und den zeitgenössischen Kontext ein und beleuchten, warum das Spiel bis heute einen festen Platz in der Retro-Riege innehat. (nba)

Podcast: The Retro Hour im Gespräch mit Petro Tyschtschenko
In der neuesten Folge des englischsprachigen "The Retro Hour" Podcasts (Episode 484) spricht Petro Tyschtschenko, ehemaliger Präsident von Amiga Technologies, über die turbulente Phase unmittelbar nach Commodores Zusammenbruch. Das Interview mit dem Titel "Inside the Fight to Save the Amiga" wurde live beim VCF East in New Jersey aufgezeichnet.
Tyschtschenko gibt einen Einblick in seine Bemühungen, den Amiga nach der Insolvenz von Commodore vor dem Aussterben zu bewahren. Er berichtet von verzweifelten Versuchen, Käufer zu finden, dem Verkauf von Amiga 1200 aus Lagerbeständen in Indien, rechtlichen Auseinandersetzungen und geheimen Hintergrunddeal – während gleichzeitig die Community den Geist der Marke lebendig hielt .

MorphOS: Webbrowser Wayfarer 10.0
Jacek 'jacadcaps' Piszczek hat die Version 10.0 seines Webbrowsers Wayfarer für MorphOS veröffentlicht, der nun auf WebKitGTK 2.48.3, der letzten stabilen Version, basiert.
Wie der Autor schreibt, wurde in dieser Version viel Arbeit in die Verbesserung der YouTube-Unterstützung gesteckt worden, inklusive besserer automatischer Qualitätsumschaltung, eingebauten vordefinierten Einstellungen und Benutzer-Agenten. Der MediaSource-Player wurde neu geschrieben. Darüber hinaus kann Wayfarer nun alle YT-Videolinks automatisch auf youtube-nocookie.com umleiten, wo nur den Videoplayer zu sehen ist, ohne Kommentare, Empfehlungen und ohne Videowerbung.
In Vorbereitung zum bald erscheinenden openssl3.library-Update hat Wayfarer 10 bereits HTTP/3-Unterstützung integriert. (dr)

7-bit: Firmware-Version 0.45 für Bluetooth-Adapter
Die Firmware-Version für den Controlpad-Adapter BlueLink von 7-bit wurde erneut aktualisiert. Unter anderem werden nun auch Amiga-, AtariST- und C64-Joystick-Ports unterstützt, die Joysticks mit drei Feuerknöpfen ansteuern. (dr)

Hintergrund: cURL unterstützt weiterhin AmiSSL
Daniel Stenberg, Initiator und Hauptentwickler von cURL, einem Kommandozeilentool für die Übertragung von Daten mit URLs, berichtete in einem aktuellen Blogeintrag darüber, dass das cURL-Projekt eine lange Tradition habe, eine Reihe verschiedener Bibliotheken von Drittanbietern zu unterstützen: bis Mai 2025 wurden so dreizehn verschiedene TLS-Bibliotheken unterstützt.
Da eine große Anzahl dieser Bibliothelen unterstützt wird, könne man nun die Messlatte höher legen und die Anforderungen an sie schrittweise erhöhen. Die aktuelle TLS-Version 1.3 wurde bereits im August 2018 eingeführt. Somit werden zukünftig von cURL nur noch TLS-Bibliotheken unterstützt, die den aktuellen Standard TLS 1.3 (in ihren modernen Versionen) verwenden.
Aus der Liste der unterstützten Backends scheiden damit "BearSSL" und "Secure Transport" aus, weiterhin unterstützt dagegen wird unter anderem das für Amiga-Computer gepflegte Verschlüsselungsprotokoll AmiSSL (amiga-news.de berichtete).

Bildeditor: PyDPainter 2.2.0 für Windows, macOS und Linux (Update)
Der Bildeditor PyDPainter ist inspiriert von DPaint und laut dessen Autor Mark Riale der Versuch, mittels PyGame ein brauchbares Pixelkunstprogramm in Python zu erstellen, das mit niedrigen Auflösungen und begrenzten Farbpaletten umgehen und möglichst einfach bedient werden kann (amiga-news.de berichtete). Die Version 2.2.0 führt "Brush Trails" für Pinselrotation und -skalierung ein (Video), bietet verbesserte Mac-Unterstützung, das Einfügen aus der Zwischenablage im Textwerkzeug und Tutorials. Die Änderungen:
- Brush Trails (formerly "Spacing"): The "Spacing" requestor has been renamed to Brush Trails. It is a rethinking of DPaint III Move requestor which allows you rotate and scale brushes along a path along with "ease-in/out" options.
- Brush Rotation and Scaling: You now rotate brushes with the 9 and 0 keys along with the - and = (or +) keys that scale while you are painting. Also, the mouse wheel now scales built-in brushes when used on the toolbar.
- Brush Type/Size Indicator: A new on-screen indicator helps you visualize your current brush type, rotation, and size.
- Native File Dialogs: A new Prefs option allows you to use the OS file dialogs.
- Signed Windows EXE: The Windows executable is now signed so that antivirus programs don't delete it.
- Improved Mac Support: Added a native Mac ARM binary .app for download. The Command key also works like CTRL for menu shortcuts and the menus have the Command symbol in them as well.
- Clipboard Paste Support: You can now paste text directly into the text tool.
- Click Menus: In addition to the click/release menu mode, they also work in a click/click mode to make it easier to use with laptops.
- Increased Undo Levels: Increased undo levels from 20 to 256
- Comprehensive Documentation Updates: New Brush Trails documentation and tutorials. Added Screen Format details as well.

Vorschau-Video: Breakout-Klon Freak-Out
Bereits zur Amiga Ruhrpott Convention (ARC) in Duisburg im Jahr 2023 präsentierte Michael Kafke eine Vorabversion seines Breakout-Klons "Freak-Out" (amiga-news.de berichtete). Nun zeigt er in einem neuen Vorschau-Video den aktuellen Stand seines Spiels, das auf einem Amiga 500 laufen soll und 100 Levels, 64-farbige Hintergrundgrafiken und einen komfortablen Level-Editor bieten soll. Er hoffe, das Spiel im Herbst 2025 auf der Amiga40 zu veröffentlichen. (dr)
