AROS: Abstimmungen über das AROS-Logo
Vor einigen Wochen rief das Entwickler-Team von AROS (Amiga Research
Operating System) zu einem Logo-Wettbewerb auf (wir berichteten). Die
Einsendungen werden nun zur öffentlichen Wahl gestellt, alle Amiga-User
können sich an der Abstimmung einmal beteiligen und damit das zukünftige
Bild von AROS mitbestimmen. (nba)

Golem: HP nimmt in Zukunft Tintenpatronen von Privatkunden zurück
»Recycling von Tintenpatronen soll der Umwelt helfen
HP will sein Rückgabe- und Recycling-Programm erweitern und in Europa
zukünftig auch von Privatkunden leere Tintenpatronen für Drucker
zurücknehmen. Gestartet wird dies noch 2003 in Deutschland, Österreich
und der Schweiz, während Großbritannien, Irland und andere Länder
ab 2004 folgen.«

Back to the Roots feiert Geburtstag und verlost viele Preise
Fünf Jahre existiert das Projekt "Back to the Roots" mittlerweile.

Zum ersten Mal überhaupt gibt es ein "Interaktives Online-Mod-Radio"!
In mehr als 50 unterschiedlichen Kanälen kann man Musik jeglicher
Stilrichtung hören. Über 65.000 Mods stehen zur Verfügung! Zuhören
kann man mithilfe von WinAmp oder Deliplayer 2. Dabei gibt es kein
"Streaming". Jeder Song wird komplett geladen!

MorphOS/Pegasos: QUICKSTART Guide Version 2.5 nun dreisprachig
Die von Jürgen Lucas geschriebene Installations-Anleitung für MorphOS
auf einem Pegasos mit leerer IDE Festplatte "QUICKSTART Guide"
wurde in Version 2.5 veröffentlicht. Dank Andreas Zierl und Fabrice
Lehaut ist diese Anleitung neben Deutsch nun auch in Englisch und
Französisch verfügbar.

User: Annuaire Amiga Francophone #13
Die Ausgabe 13 der "Annuaire Amiga Francophone" wurde an die 312 Abonnenten verschickt. Hierbei handelt es sich um eine Liste mit französischsprachigen Amiga-Usern aus der ganzen Welt (Frankreich, Belgien, Schweiz, Quebec,...), die seit Juli 2000 monatlich verschickt wird, um Kontakte untereinander zu ermöglichen.

- Program: NewWBPattern (Version 1.0)
Info: This is small tool to change the WB-background on-the-fly.
Updates:
- Program: GummiSurf (Version 1.2)
Info: Now supports the built-in download managers in all Amiga browsers (IBrowse, Voyager & AWeb)
Can export HTML and plain text-lists.
- Program: MultiRen (Version 1.54)
Info: * Added a function to the Adaptor tool so that is possible
to control what character the Adaptor should put the
lengthener character around when prolonging a filename.
* Now the filename length also displays the length of the
file comment (which cannot be more than 80 characters in
AmigaDOS).
The format is now <filename_length;comment_length> in the
window. Also, the file comment gets /italic/ in the main
lister if it exceeds 79 characters.
* Added the operator %t for use in the text export and file
comment generation tools. This stands for tab. Whenever a %t
is encountered a tab stop is set there which gets determind by
the longest string up to the %t. Many %t's can be used in an
export string. This way very nice columnized text files and
file comments can be produced!
* The memo list handling (in the RenPlacer, File Comment and
Text Export tools) now saves the memo lists immediately when
stored or removed if the checkmark in prefs is set. This makes
it easier to not forget to save then when quitting the proram
:)
* Updated the ID3-Tag plugin so that it always returns two
digits for the track number. F.ex. 01,02,03...10,11,etc
instead of 1,2,3...10,11 which makes it look nicer.
- Program: QuickSketch (Version 1.01)
Info: * The move draw area qualifiers Shift and Alt has now been
reduced to only work with RightShift and RightAlt.
* Because move has been restricted to Right Shift and Alt
it is now possible to use the LAlt+LAmiga+Cursor to draw
a straight line.
* + More fixes...
- Program: TheMPegEncGUI (Version 2.3)
Info: * Now it's possible to import CDDB/ACDB-files automatically
into the ID3-tags on files in the file list! (Yes I know
it's not full automatic CDDB-support but it's one step in the
right direction anyway:)) This means that you have to use
CDDB or ACDB to download the descriptions for your CD's, then
you can import these text-files in TheMPegEncGUI.
* Now also includes OggDec and OggPlay (ogg123) support.
* + More fixes...

Warp Datatypes V45.2 veröffentlicht (Update)
After a long delay, the promised updates to all the Warp picture datatypes for 68k, WarpOS and MorphOS are finally here. To accompany the new release is the brand new WarpDT portal at http://www.warpdt.co.uk/ where you can keep up to date with the latest versions of the WarpDTs and download them all in one easy place.
Summary of changes since previous versions:
BMP/JPEG/PNG/TIFF: Minor optimizations and cleanups.
BMP/JPEG/PNG/TIFF: Bumped version to v45 since a stable release has
now been reached and to reflect the jump to shareware status
BMP: Fixed problems with decoding bitfield images
JPEG: Altered descriptor file to prevent it matching LhA or LZX
archives containing JPEG files (or anything else that might
contain a JFIF header, other than Photoshop files)
PNG: PNG files not containing enough data are no longer treated as a
fatal error. Now the part of the image that was successfully
decoded is returned.
PNG: Updated with libpng 1.2.5
PNG/TIFF: Updated with zlib 1.1.4
TIFF: Now correctly converts images using the YCbCr colourspace to RGB
TIFF: Added support for JPEG decompression
TIFF: Updated to libtiff 3.6.0-beta2, including a new version of the
LogLuv decoder, and numerous other bugfixes
Prefs: Various parts of code rewritten, in preparation for losing the
current reliance on resource.library
Prefs: Minor bugfixes
Prefs: Correct Polish and Portuguese documentation now included.
Update 06.07.2003:
Errornous timeouts bugfix (Version 45.2)
Unfortunately, due to last minute changes, I broke the timeout code
slightly - doh! This resulted in the datatypes producing timeout warnings
unnecessarily. Fixed versions of all 5 datatypes now in version 45.2
available. Apologies for any confusion caused.

Der Bundestag und der von der Opposition dominierte Bundesrat haben sich
auf einen Kompromiss für das geplante Urheberrechtsgesetz geeinigt. Wer
sich jetzt freut, freut sich allerdings zu früh: Strittig waren nur noch
Verschärfungen der ohnehin strikten Restriktionen, die die Novelle dem

heute offiziell angekündigt.

Anmerkung von Niels Bache:
Ich habe von einigen Leuten gehört, dass der neue, freie Server (frac.dk),
den ich nun nutze, nicht immer so schnell, wie gewünscht ist. Ich bitte
trotzdem um Ihr Verständnis und Ihre Geduld, da ich diesen Server
als Gast kostenlos nutzen kann. Ich selber habe diese Probleme noch nicht
festgestellt und nehme daher an, dass das Geschwindigkeits-Problem nur
sporadisch auftritt, z. B. wenn gerade sehr viel Traffic verursacht wird.
Versuchen Sie es in so einem Fall einfach an einem späteren Zeitpunkt.

Datenbank: XBaze Version 7.3 Beta 14
Rafal Kaczmarczyk hat die Version 7.3 Beta 14 seiner Datenbank 'XBaze'
veröffentlicht. Das Programm bietet einen leicht zu nutzenden Editor für
die Felder der Datensätze und einen Layout-Editor mit
Drag&Drop-Funktionalität. Es läuft ab AmigaOS V3.0 und unter MorphOS.
