Village Tronic gibt Antworten :-)
Gestern vermeldeten wir, dass mit dem Layoutwechsel der Website von VT der
Eindruck zurückbleibt, dass der Amiga-Bereich bei VT nur noch eine sehr
sekundäre Rolle spielt. Heute meldet sich Village Tronic bezüglich des
ParaGlide Projekts zu Wort. Da 1999 kein exzellenter Hard- und
Software-Entwickler gefunden wurde und ParaGlide nicht oben auf der
Prioritätenliste stand, hat man sich zunächst auf andere
Projekte konzentriert. ParaGlide wurde aber nicht gestrichen, da die
Entwickler aus dem Amigabereich das ablehnten.
Village Tronic sucht nun einen ParaGlide-Fan, der ein erfahrener PCB-Layouter
ist, und das Protel Layout System benutzt. Interessenten mögen sich bitte

Rainboot Version 2.8 erschienen
Soeben wurde auf der Airsoft Softwair Homepage
eine neue Rainboot Version veröffentlicht. Version 2.8
bietet einige größere Neuerungen, wie eine komplett
neue GUI. Außerdem wurden Fehler behoben und einige
neue Argumente hinzugefügt.

3D Jump and Run "Tales From Heaven" wird bereits ausgeliefert
Bei Epic Marketing ist heute das Spiel "Tales From Heaven" erscheinen.
Tales ist das erste 3D Jump and Run für den Amiga. Es ist an den
Konsolenklassiker Mario 64 angelehnt und benötigt mindestens eine
030er CPU, AGA und 8 Mbyte Ram. Grafikkarten werden unterstützt. (ps)

Eternity erwartet 20.000sten Besucher
Die Eternity-Seiten erfreuen sich zunehmender Beliebtheit,
wie wir an weiter steigenden Besucherzahlen feststellen konnten.
Daher gibt es auch für den 20.000 Besucher wieder etwas umsonst:
Wer nachweisen kann (Screenshot und ungefähre Uhrzeitangabe),
der 20.000 Besucher der Eternitypages gewesen zu sein, bekommt
nach eigenen Vorlieben entweder:
· einen Highspeed-IDE-Controller oder
· ein aktuelles Spiel aus unserem Sortiment
Dazu sollte man sich dann allerdings mit den obenstehenden Angaben

amiga-news.de ab sofort mit Amiga Link Directory (ALD)
amiga-news.de stellte am 23.1.2000 der Öffentlichkeit das neue Amiga Link Directory (ALD) vor,
das sich zum Ziel gesetzt hat, DAS Verzeichnis für AMIGA-Seiten zu werden. Die Technologie
dazu stammt von dem Herzogenauracher Softwarehaus Innovative.
Einträge werden nach Kategorien und Buchstaben sortiert präsentiert oder lassen sich ganz
einfach mit der vorhandenen Suchfunktion finden. Damit sich im Verzeichnis immer nur die
aktuellsten Informationen finden, haben Eingetragene ferner die Möglichkeit, ihren Eintrag
mit einem zuvor definierten Passwort jederzeit zu ändern. Zu jedem Eintrag sind, wenn vom
Eingetragenen gewünscht, zudem weiterführende Informationen zu finden. So lassen sich u.a. die
Adresse und Telefonnummer genauso abrufen wie ein Logo und die EMail- oder Homepage-Adresse.
Das ALD wird sich auszugsweise auch auf Aminet-CDs finden (dann allerdings nur die Einträge,
von denen dies gewünscht wird). Erstmals besteht damit die Möglichkeit, eine Brücke zwischen der
AMIGA-Online- und Offline-Welt zu schlagen und die Kommunikation in der Amiga-Gemeinde weiter
zu verbessern. Firmen können so auch Benutzer ohne Internetanschluss erreichen.
Helfen Sie uns dabei, das größte Online-Verzeichnis von AMIGA-Seiten weltweit aufzubauen und
tragen Sie am besten noch heute Ihre Website ein!

"webspace" - Markenamt beschließt Löschung
Dem Löschantrag, der am 23.07.1999 eingereicht wurde, hat gestern
die Markenabteilung des Deutschen Patent und Markenamtes in vollem
Umfang stattgegeben. Die Löschung der Marke "WEBSPACE" (Az. 398 06 414)
wurde verfügt.
Viele Abgemahnte erhielten die Mitteilung gleich nach
Verkündung der Entscheidung anscheinend ein Telefax des
Bevollmächtigten des Markenanmelders. Hierin hieß es lt. bonnanwalt.de,
dass "aufgrund der Entscheidung des Deutschen Patent- und Markenamtes
die Ansprüche aus der Abmahnung nicht weiterverfolgt" würden.
Natürlich wurde auch eine Beschwerde beim Bundespatentgericht angekündigt.

Villagetronic ändert Homepage - für den AMIGA sieht es schlecht aus..
Die Villagetronic Homepage hat sich grundlegend geändert und es gibt
nur noch einen kleinen AMIGA-Link auf der ersten Seite, wodurch man auf
die ALTEN Amiga VT Seiten kommt, an denen sich seit Juni 99 nichts mehr
geändert hat. Sieht wohl schlecht aus mit der Zukunft für ParaGLIDE und alle
VT Karten! Schade!!! (ps)

Storm MP3 Digital Audio Decoder
Storm MP3/e ist ein an den Parallelport anzuschließendes Gerät, das MP3-
Musikdateien auch auf einem unbeschleunigten A500, 286er oder einem
Archimedes (?) abspielen kann. Die Einheit wird durch eine 9V-Batterie
betrieben und schaltet sich zusammen mit dem Rechner ein und aus.
Optionen für spätere Erweiterungen umfassen einen Infrarotport,
Speichererweiterung (wahrscheinlich nur intern für MP3) und Radio-

There is currently a job vacancy for a C++ programmer to work on Space
Station 3000. You will require knowledge with GUI programming and AI.
At present, the position will be payed on royalties, but within the next
few months, we will be looking at providing monthly payments to senior
members of the company as well as having them working full time with us
in Los Angeles.

AppleInsider: Outlook for Faster G4 Systems Appear Gloomy
Offensichtlich führen Schwierigkeiten mit dem Layout der G4-Prozessoren
dazu, dass die Ausbeute an G4 Prozessoren mit mehr als 450 MHz mehr als dürftig ist
(ein bis zwei Stück pro Wafer). Angeblich hat Apple IBM vertraglich dazu
verpflichtet, alle produzierten G4's ausschließlich an Apple auszuliefern,
um die entstandenen Engpässe zu stopfen; Motorola liefert allerdings weiterhin
an Dritte.
Eine Besserung der Situation ist wohl erst diesen Spätherbst zu erwarten,
wenn eine neue Version des G4 (nicht der Nachfolger G5!) erscheint. Bis
dahin sind die G3-CPUs bis auf weiteres die einzigen PowerPCs, die
die 500 MHz-Hürde überschreiten. (ps)

"Greetings to one and all:
A great deal has occurred over the last couple of weeks, and it is only going to get more interesting as we move forward. It has been some time since I spoke with you, and I wanted to share some of the fun.
In the last two weeks we have announced our new foundation partner, started technical training with our new development team, and had many meetings with future technology partners
The responses have been overwhelmingly positive and, to quote an old song "they ain't seen nothing yet".
On January 8, 2000 at CES in Las Vegas we announced our partnership with the Tao-Group as our foundation OS partner. This is not just a technical but a strategic relationship and brings with it great rewards. I have asked Fleecy to write a short document highlighting the Amiga/Tao relationship from a more technical perspective, to save you from having to put up with my telling everyone how incredibly great and fantastic it is. We want you to make your own minds up.
In the next two weeks we will make another strategic partnership announcement with regards to the new path for Amiga. As with all our announcements, look at it against the whole picture and not in isolation.
After a week long trip to Germany and the UK I have come back with a much better understanding of what we can and cannot do. As mentioned before we are not going to make promises or product announcements. We will announce to you, the community, only after the deal is signed or the product is sitting before us. This won't put a stop to rumours, but it will make them all the more obvious. Change brings uncertainty, and in an information vacuum, mischief makers like to take the spotlight. If it isn't officially sanctioned by Amiga, don't believe it.
Our job as a company is to create exciting market opportunities for Amiga developers to take advantage of, and to give Amiga users a platform they can enjoy. This requires more than just an upgrade to the existing OS. This requires, indeed demands a complete strategy reaching into all areas of the present and the future. The time has come for all of us to move forwards, owner, developer, and user.
Many of you have sent us business proposals, and product marketing ideas, and for this we thank you, and ask for your patience as we look over them. Some are providing us with valuable insight into the desires of the Amiga community as a whole, others are providing us with a good chuckle. This is the Amiga advantage that other platforms just do not share.
Over the next few months there may be some companies that come out with their own plans, or state that we do not have the community at heart as we move forwards. The reality is, they do not know what we have planned. In order to stay focused and to keep up our incredible pace, we are not sharing our plans outside of our signed partnerships.
We have to prioritise and act singlemindedly if we are to reach our first plateau in our given timescales. Once there we will be able to pause for breath. Some are not happy about this, but they do not know the full plan. Our mission is not just about restoring the Amiga, but about pushing it forwards as THE technology for tomorrow.
This means that if you hear something annoying, or frustrating, or downright nasty, and the source is not Amiga Inc, then disregard it.
Plain and simple.
If you did not hear it from us, or read it here on this web site it is not true.
We are not asking for your trust or your undying belief. We only ask that you take us on OUR words and deeds, not on the misinterpretations of others.
We will soon be starting official meetings in Europe, the UK, and the US for developers and dealers. This will include introductory training seminars for the new OS, and introductions to the retail pricing and schedules. We will also begin the process of introducing the new web site, and putting the Amiga Advisory Council to work.
I want to thank each and every one of you for your hospitality during our meetings and for your continued support as we move forwards. We have had the chance to meet with many end users, developers, dealers, and new partners, and look forwards to meeting even more of you as time goes on.
There is a great deal of activity, with a lot of first footsteps on some truly amazing paths. New partners excited, old faces returning, familiar faces reminding us of our heritage. Indeed we are already having to move into bigger facilities, such is our rate of growth.
I know it can be frustrating but after years wandering lost in a dark place, the sun is finally starting to crack a smile on the horizon. Together, we will march into tomorrow.
