Virus Help Team: AmigaOS 4 users wanted
The Virus Help Team have written the following request on their Yahoo Group: There has been a problem running antivirus programs with the AmigaOS 4. Jan Andersen has been in contact with Georg Horemann (VirusZ and XVS.library programmer), and the problems may be due to XVS. When a fix comes in, it would need to run properly on an OS4 system.

Request: If there are any Amiga OS4 users that are willing to use the new xvs.library (when available), could you:
  • go over to the VHT Forum and sign-up for a member name,
  • kindly do a post (i.e. saying you use AmigaOS 4) in the corresponding thread and
  • do your settings on the VHT Forum to keep track of that topic, then you will get an automatic e-mail when there is a new posting to the topic.
You could also sign-in and post any problems you already have or maybe a solution you have already found. (snx)

AmigaOS 4: Movie-Player Mplayer, "Experimental Version 2"
When clicking on the link above you will find a new beta version of the OS 4 porting of Mplayer. Changes since the last release:
  • An AREXX port that is useful with new Daniel's Gui
  • Support for WMV (don't need to be repetitive. ok?)
  • Many endianess bug fixed on many formats (like MOV and NSV)
  • Full internet streaming
  • A menu on video screen (only when is in window mode)
  • The video driver now scale movies correctly (except for 16:9 one when in fullscreen..)
  • Last CSV changes
  • Compiled with newlib 4.0.2
  • surely other things i forgot now..

According to the author this version is a bit slower than the one before. If the WMV3 videos don't run, it should help to clear the codecs.conf file. (cg) (Translation: iw)

Besides the contest with other hobby filmmakers from entire Europe, a prize money amounting to 2500 euros, in addition to a certificate, beckons for the winner. Altogether, prizes amounting to more than 10,000 euros and certificate will be awarded to the first ten film contributions.

You can find further information about the competition as well as participation terms on the website of Prophoto GmbH under the title link. (nba) (Translation: cad)

Editor's Thoughts and Introduction:
 Welcome to spring! Well, it's spring here in the northern half of the
world anyway once March comes. And appropriately enough, there are
lots of interesting Amiga things popping up and growing. OK, that's
probably a stretch as analogies go but it is true we have many things
of interest for you in this issue.
 You also might want to check out this site:
http://www.dietmar-eilert.net/golded/files.htm
 The 2002 version of the great GoldED Studio AIX (SP2) is now
available free at the author's site. Note that this is not freely
distributable software but you may download and use it for no fee.
There's no story below as there was no annoucement of this to the
press, but you should find all the information you need at the site or
in the archive.
 So please enjoy the newsletter, enjoy the new and updated software
that's come along but, if you live in our half of the world, make sure
you take some time to enjoy the spring as well. Hmmmm. Now's when an
Amiga laptop would come in really handy.

~~~~~~
 You are asking for what is among the most rare of Amiga software
unfortunately. I performed a quick search and was unable to find
anyone with Mandala software, or a Live! board, for sale (I don't know
if you need the Live! board but they are used together).
 If any of our readers has information about a copy of Mandala which
Professor Joshi could purchase, please send it to us in reply to this
mailing and we will pass the information along quickly. Information
about a Live! board might be appreciated as well.
 Thanks!
 Brad
After one month of development Think Commodore is finally online.
 What is "Think Commodore"?
Think Commodore is a website about emulating old Commodore computers
such as the C64 and the Amiga on your Macintosh. The website also
covers subjects such as C64 or Amiga games, demos, music, how to copy
iles from your Mac back to your trusty old Commodore etc.
I switched from the WinTel world to the Macintosh approx. one and a
half years ago. I soon came to realize that while there are tons of
websites covering Commodore emulation, SID music, Protracker modules,
games, demos etc., information about Commodore emulation on the Mac is
very scarce. Many websites about Commodore emulation on the Mac are
old and obsolete, they aren't updated regularly and some websites/
teams completely ignore the Mac even though some nifty programmer has
done a Mac port of that particular software or project.
That's the reason why I started "Think Commodore".
Hopefully you'll find this site useful and check back here regularly.
Feel free to drop me an email if you have suggestions on how to i
mprove the site.
Cheers,
Søren Ladegaard - Denmark
...oh, in case you were wondering "Think Commodore" is a homage to the
classic Apple slogan "Think different". But you already knew that,
didn't you? ;-)
 MUIbase (Magic data BASE with User Interface) is a relational
programmable database with user interface.
Begining in March, 2006, MUIbase for Amiga and Amiga-related operating
systems is now distributed under the Gnu General Public License. The
source code and binaries for m68kAmigaOS are made available as part of
a sourceforge project. We hope that developers for the new AmigaOS 4,
the MorphOS and AROS will also compile versions for these operating
systems.
At this point, we would like to thank all who supported us in the past
and all who registered MUIbase. From the new version 2.0 on, no
keyfile for running all features of MUIbase on Amiga is necessary any
more.
We still hope for support from the Amiga community. Please write us
your comment. It will also be possible to make us a donation if you
feel you want to financially support us.
Happy MUIbase'ing,
 "AmiKit is the compilation of the best Amiga (free/shareware)
programs around. To be brief, AmiKit is all you need if you want to
experience a high-end Classic Amiga system. It contains many
expansions and add-ons (more than 20.000 files are included in
AmiKit!) that turn the default AmigaOS installation into a completely
renewed and fresh environment. This pre-configured package is designed
for immediate use. Moreover, it contains an exciting surprise for the
whole Amiga community, see the features or screenshots!"
 AmiKit now supports antialiased TrueType fonts!
 Loading speed of icons has been increased!
 Quality of icon rendering has been increased!
 WinUAE emulation software updated to version 1.2.0
 AmiKit now contains the largest collection of AmigaOS3.9 patches.
DESCRIPTION OF NEW SOFTWARE IN THIS UPDATE:
AfA_OS 3.93 by Bernd Roesch
"AROS For Amiga" project ports the AROS sources and make them
available for classic AmigaOS. Since AROS is more up-to-date, it
provides a lot of new features and system bugfixes for AmiKit! For
example, AfA_OS is responsible for icon loading speedup, enchanced
icon rendering, TrueType font support etc.
AmiStart 0.66b (exclusive AmiKit version) by Darius Brewka
This great taskbar software has been updated for AmiKit. It works in
detached mode now so it does not steal the active state from other
tasks and windows anymore!
AISS 2.2 by Martin 'Mason' Merz
"Amiga Image Storage System" is a system to store, access and maintain
toolbar images under AmigaOS.
AmiSSL 3.6 by Andrija Antonijevic and Stefan Burstroem
AmiSSL is a shared library package, port of OpenSSL which is "a
collaborative effort to develop a robust, commercial-grade, full-
featured, and Open Source toolkit implementing the Secure Sockets
Layer (SSL v2/v3) and Transport Layer Security (TLS v1) protocols as
well as a full-strength general purpose cryptography library".
Ken Lester has painted fresh new toolbar images for DOpus5! These
images are used as default now. Your old toolbar is stored as
"DOpus5:Buttons/toolbar_104bak". Rename it to "DOpus5:Buttons/toolbar"
to have it back.
Meridian 2.20 by Guido Mersmann
You all know PDAs where you can draw lines with a pen on the display
and the PDA converts these combinations into characters or functions.
Meridian does exactly this! Meridian is a small commodity to create
virtual hotkeys by using the mouse. You paint a square and Meridian
starts the requested action. Since the starting point and the
direction is also important, there are countless combinations you can
use. Eg. hold down the middle mouse button and move your mouse to
upper-right direction and watch the result!
MUIbase 2.0 by Steffen Gutmann
MUIbase is a fast and very flexible database for the Amiga. It is for
users who want to manage data in a comfortable and easy way. MUIbase
is able to manage any kind of data, e.g. addresses, CD series, movies,
or your income and expense. The power of MUIbase lies in its clear and
powerful graphical user interface and its programming capabilities.
The latter makes it possible to automatically calculate and maintain
nearly everything, starting from automatically summing up values, e.g.
for calculating the total amount of income or the total amount of
recorded time of a CD, up to automatically creating and printing
letters for any purpose.
StormMesa libraries 3.1 by Haage&Partner Computer GmbH
These 3D libraries are almost completely OpenGL compatible and
provides 3D features to Amiga. Try a demo in AmiKit:Utilities/
Expansion/StormMesa/GLProgs drawer or find more on Aminet.
Sudoku 1.3 by Silicon Wizards
A popular game in a computer form. Special thanks to Michael Lanser!
AmiKit now contains the largest collection of unofficial patches for
AmigaOS3.9:
- Amigaguide.datatype 45.6
- Console.device 44.10
- FastFileSystem 45.14
- Icon.library 45.4
- MultiView 45.10
- RAM-Handler 44.23
- Rexxsyslib.library 44.2
- Shell 45.12
- Workbench.library 45.130
The installation of these patches is optional. Run "Install Patches"
to install them.
Epistula is to AmigaOS what GAIM is to Linux and Windows. For people
not in the know, GAIM is an instant messenger application which can
handle a variety of IM protocols, for example Microsoft MSN, AOL AIM
and Yahoo Messenger.
I know JabberWocky can provide a similar service, but that requires
extra setting up with Jabber ID's etc. This way, you can log straight
onto your favourite protocol, by-passing any need for yet another IM
account. One of the main reasons I started to write this client was
because I couldn't be bothered with Jabber... I can't be the only
one... can I?
Unlike GAIM, Epistula is written in a modular fashion in that each
'protocol' is a plugin which can be installed, and updated, seperately
from the main application and other plugins.
Epistula is initially only in development for AmigaOS 4, but hopefully
in not-to-distant future, will also be made available for MorphOS,
AmigaOS 3.1 and AROS.
People looking for individual 68k instant messengers available now
wouldn't be going far wrong looking at JabberWocky, AmiMSN and
AmigAIM.
Friday, 10th March 2006
I've spent quite a bit of time developing this last week, both
changing the website and updating the client and MSN plugin. Thanks to
everyone who sent in numerous crash logs and serial output, they've be
invaluable in tracking down various bugs.
I'd also like to point out that since Epistula is getting more and
more stable, that this will be the last update to the demo version.
All future features will only be available to registered users,
although plugin updates should also work with the demo.
The following changes have been made to Epistula and the MSN plugin:
    * MSN plugin has now been updated to MSN Protocol 11
    * Group names are now UTF-Decoded/Encoded in the MSN plugin before
being sent to Epistula
    * Fixed the secure authentication which stopped quite a few people
logging into MSN. Those unable to login before, but could with GAIM or
the official client should find this allows them to login with
Epistula now
    * MSN plugin now respects your initial presence as specified in
the plugin settings
    * Plugin integration with Epistula has had a massive re-write
    * Epistula will now check for the minimum required MUI custom
classes before launching
    * General messages window fixed to display the correct message
when selected from the list
    * Slight cosmetic changes
    * Various memory leaks/bugs fixed
I have just uploaded an update to aPod, my iPod management program.
The new version allows to copy multiple songs across at once and to
sort the song listview by clicking on the various columns.
apod is an application to mantain and synchronise your mp3 collection
on your iPod using from a Amiga OS4 computer with usb.
apod is written in perl and utilises the perl_Reaction interface to
the OS4 reaction gui. The interface with the ipod is maintained using
the Mac::iPod::GNUpod module.
INSTALLATION:
NOTE: If installing for the first time, apod requires the following
perl modules to be installed, if updating you only need to copy the
apod and .apodrc files.
perl_Reaction version .02 available from (os4depot.net)
Mac::iPod::GNUpod (included)
Audio::Wav (included)
MP3::Info (included)
Unicode::String (incuded)
XML::Parser (included)
install any of these you don't yet have by CD ing into their
directory, starting abc-shell and typing
perl Makefile.PL LINKTYPE=DYNAMIC
make
make install
copy apod and .apodrc to the location of your choice say work:apod/
assign apod: to this directory.
edit the paths in .apodrc to reflect the name of your ipod etc.
PREPARING TOUR IPOD:
You may need to create the directory
<ipodname>:iPod_Control/.gnupod/
otherwise your ipod requires no special initialisation.
Your ipod still requires the apple firmware etc this pogram only
handles copying of music file to and from the ipod.
USAGE:
perl apod --help
to get usage
or
perldoc apod to get full pod documentation.
HISTORY:
1.1
Added Multiselect to Addsongs.
Song List can now be sorted by Columns
1.0
Initial Public Release
KNOWN BUGS:
The underlying mac::ipod::gnupod module appears to have some problems
with smartplaylists. If you get a problem with this email me, for a
workarround.
TODO:
Mac::iPod::GNUpod ofers some sophisticated search options and a
variation on smartplaylists based on these. adding support for these
will be done in the not too far distant future.
Send an Feature requests to me by email and I'll see what I can do...
This is the official continuation of the famous (and fabulous :-)
system monitor from Andreas Gelhausen.
What is Scout?
==============
Scout is a tool that allows you to monitor your computer system. It
displays many different things -- like tasks, ports, assigns,
expansion boards, resident commands, interrupts, etc. -- and you can
perform some certain actions on them.
For example you can freeze tasks, close windows and screens, release
semaphores or remove locks, ports and interrupts.
Through AmiTCP it's also possible to use Scout as a TCP/IP service.
Since version 2.0 of Scout you can use nearly all implemented
functions through shell parameters. Therefore it's not necessary to
install MUI for using Scout, but you will need MUI if you want to use
Scout with its graphical user interface.
BTW: Scout can open 49 different windows! :-)
PS: Along with V3.3 this number is even higher than 49, but I am too
lazy to count all the different windows :)
Changes from release 3.4 to release 3.5:
========================================
  o This newly created archive also contains the latest NList classes,
which are also available at http://sourceforge.net/projects/nlist-
classes/.
  o Too many changes to list them all. All in all there were almost
next to no functional changes, but lots of system specific additions.
The biggest change however is that Scout now comes in a native OS4
flavour :) That means we now have three different builds: OS2/3, OS4
and MorphOS. The OS3 build should run under both, OS4 and MorphOS, but
cannot really make any real advantage of the new system enhancements.
The OS4 and the MorphOS builds however will make use of system
specific enhancements as far as this is possible and gives any
advantage.
  o all builds may list PCI boards in the expansion window. The OS4
build uses the PCI interface of expansion.library, while the MOS build
will use openpci.library to query all the details. OS3 support for
openpci.library will hopefully come in the next release, together with
a detail window for PCI boards.
Better vertical proportionnal gadgets handler.
Bug on the Comments handler corrected (didn't work for ALL files)
New prefs button to desactivate bubble help.
String gadget path bug corrected (didn't work when the tab wasn't
active).
Installation :
    If you are updating from a previous version, just copy the AmiDisk
    executable in place of the old one.
    I suggest you don't copy the prefs file if you want to keep your
    old preferences. Use the import button to try the new classes.
New installation :
    Just copy the AmiDisk drawer in the SYS:utilities drawer. Then
    delete the files you don't need (catalogs, icons, guide, logo...)
    You can keep only AmiDisk, AmiDisk.info and AmiDisk.prefs if you
    want.
Perhaps, your old configuration will not be totaly readen, launching
AmiDisk version 1.04. The state of the double clic button is slowly
modified in the prefs file, so check it in the prefs menu, and save
the configuration. Il will work on next run.
Trifolium Website (ANF)
Project Trifolium - Motorola Dual 680x0 processor emulation
Project Trifolium is a dual Motorola 680x0 processor emulation with dynamic recompilation for PowerPC based Amigas.
Dynamic recompilation (or also called just-in-time compilation or simply JIT compilation) is a technique of translation of the emulated processor machine code to an executer processor machine code on-the-fly. This technique is a common method nowadays, usually used in JAVA applications, and it is also applied in several emulators with success.
The target of the emulation is high compatibility with a dual Motorola 68040, without MMU support. The actual version is already running in close cooperation with the interpretive emulation in AmigaOS 4.0.
Trifolium is not officially part of AmigaOS4.
For more information and download links visit the Trivolium Website. (nba)
MorphOS: HTTP streaming class for Reggae
With "http.stream" Grzegorz 'Krashan' Kraszewski has published another class for his MorphOS library for Stream medias. With http.stream you can get ressources (that means files) with theHTTP protocol in order to decode with Reggae or an external application.
http.stream supports HTTP 1.1, HTTP-Proxies and "chunked transfers" and with the API you can access the HTTP response header. According to the author http.stream is also interesting for programmers (because of the simple connection to own applications) who must access files with their applications via HTTP protocol.
http.stream is available as LhA archive as well as MorphUp-Index. Programmers should use the last one because only this contains the latest version of the Header files.
Aminet: two additional mirrors online, further changes
In addition to de4.aminet.net the Aminet servers it.aminet.net and uk.aminet.net are now online again, further mirrors will follow soon. Whoever wants to run an official Aminet mirror on his own and has the corresponding resources at his disposal is cordially invited to contact the Aminet team.
Contrary to former times Aminet mirrors now only act as pure download servers. A web interface is only available at www.aminet.net, the other servers will simply forward to this address. The download links of the web interfaces point to a random download Mirror - alternatively you may select your preferred download server in the setup area.
All servers are of course still available via FTP, uploads, however, will only be accepted by the main.aminet.net server
After more than 10 years, the legendary PD series "Fish Disks" is available on Aminet again: You will find all of the 1000 discs aswell as an index in the directory misc/fish.
Files without suffix won't be accepted anymore, as this makes the internal scripts unnecessarily complicated. All existing files without suffix will be either renamed or put into an LhA archive. (cg) (Translation: iw)
Michael Schulz has published a 2D driver for ATI graphics cards. This driver uses the graphics hardware for the following operations:
  • accelerated line drawing
  • rectangles
  • filled rectangles
  • polygons
Only "monochrome text drawing" is not yet accelerated by the graphics hardware.
The driver has to be copied to SYS:Devs/Drivers, additionally the I2C class should be in the same directory.
individual Computers: Demo-party sponsoring and shipping of new products
individual Computers sponsors Breakpoint
For the tenth time in a row, a big Scene-event takes place in Germany at easter time. The well-established successor to the legendary "Mekka/Symposium" parties Breakpoint will make the small city Bingen, Germany, the destination for the whole European demoscene for the fourth time now.
Demos are non-interactive programs that show the capabilities of makers and machine with music, graphics and animation. The special thing about demos is their strict limitation for example in size, which is done in order to achieve comparability in competitions. Demo parties are non-commercial events where entrance fees and sponsor's donations are used mostly to cover prizes for these competitions.
Individual Computers is proud to support this form of art as "silver sponsor" again. An invitation to such a demoparty is of course done with a demo that's available on the party's FTP server as a free download (12MB). If the demo doesn't run on your type of computer, you can also watch the XVID AVI video. At 98MB, it's more than 8 times as big and cannot offer the same picture quality. Even if you can't come to the party, it's worth watching! For fans of the Commodore C64, there's an invitation demo that you can download here as a D64 archive.
New products shipping
The clockport-adapter for the Amiga 500 and the USB-converter for Commodore-keyboards Keyrah will start shipping to our retail partners on monday, march 20th. Please mention your type of keyboard when ordering, because Keyrah must be programmed with your keyboard layout at the factory.
The scope of delivery has also been decided now: Every Keyrah comes with a screwdriver and a 2-meter (6.5 ft) USB cable. Versions for Amiga keyboards come with an assembly kit that ensures contact even to partly damaged foil connectors of the A600/A1200 keyboards.
Customers who have pre-ordered the special edition of the Buddha controller for Phoenix-Amigas will recieve an eMail from us in the next few days. (snx)
AmigaJoker.de celebrates third anniversary
AmigaJoker.de, the self declared "computer forum of the cool generation", is celebrating its third anniversary today. Meanwhile there are more than 350 registered members.
Please read the following official statement of Amiga-Joker.de:
Three good Years?
Since exactly three years now we make you happy, us and the rest of the amiganized world with the "computer forum of the cool generation". And they were three really exciting years: It is up to the German ministery of statistics to recalculate all the events and stories. ;)
Finally we have enjoyed so many highlights and sometimes we were angry with several discussions. We could experience various trends and the birth of new hard- and software jewels - in the Amiga as well as the pc- and console area. Above all we have seen how a small fan bulletin from the user "grand_diablo" with his "PC Joker Forum" and a few users have changed to a bigger and pleasant community of Amiga-, pc- and console users, 350 members so far, after their move to AmigaJoker.de.
I want to thank you in the name of my moderators and I hope this community will be still alive for a long time! Of course wishes and suggestions are always welcome - as well as helping hands for their realization!
How could it be different as there is a lottery in the tradition of the joker called "the millions' joker lottery"! You will find it at: AmigaJoker.de -> Sonstiges -> JokerGames -> Joker-Millionspiel. Please read the text very CAREFUL! ;)
I wish you a lot of fun with AmigaJoker.de so far and hope you will still heavily join the community. Should you face problems with your account, please send an e-mail.
Event: Classic-Computing 2006
On September 30th and October 01st 2006 the Classic-Cpmputing 2006 takes place, this time in Nordhorn, Lower Saxony.
On about 1.100 square meters users, clubs, vendors and collectors of history computers from all over Germany, Benelux and many other Countries will meet. Beside the possibility to play with one of the many arranged computers and consoles, you may inform yourself about repair and maintenance of your "oldtimer" through members of the "Verein zur Enthaltung klassischer Computer" an other Collectors and trader. You may also trade or buy whole computers, games or accessories from traders or private sellers. A large number of collectors, vendors, and the "retro-press" have already announced theirs participation. Of course, not only members but also all friends of classic computers are invited.
A special emphasis is put on the still very actibe Amiga sceme this year, so many vendors and users may be expected. But also friends of other computers will sure not be dissapointed. Traditionally, like every year many MSX-computers, Commodore 8 bit computers, Ataris, old Apple-computers and historic professional computers from the time before windows will be there to be seen and experienced.
Admission for visitors is 2 EUR. But there are also very attractive fees for traders, collectors and second-hand dealers, to make this a real mega-event-
Further information can be found at the page of the association for conversation of classic computers e.V., www.classic-computing.de, or directly on www.amiga-event.de, or via mail from the head of the association: Rüdiger Schuldes, Kappelbergstraße 14, 71332 Waiblingen. (cg) (Translation: iw)
MorphOS: Package Manager MorphUp 1.0 (Bounty Release)
After six months of development Rupert Hausberger today released version 1.0 of his package manager MorphUp. This Version meets the terms of the "Bounty" posted on morphzone.org. The author thanks all donators and those who support the project in other ways.
Introduction
MorphUp is the result of the ezPM bounty, released on morphzone.org. So far, when installing a new application, AmigaOS/MorphOS users often had to visit various internet pages and download, unpack and install several archives manually. The packet manager MorphUp is to take over this time consuming and error-prone process from the user.
MorphUP consists of two parts: the "Generator" used by developers to create so-called "packages", archives which contain the actual software. Those packages can be hosted on any HTTP server. The MorphUp client then assumes the download and installation of those packages on the computer of the user.
Features of MorphUp
Package system:
  • Packages can be grouped by type.
  • Theoreticaly unlimited packages per group and unlimited dirs/files per package.
  • Can handle file size up to (the DOS limitation of) 2 GB.
  • Extraction of files without the need of unpacking the whole package.
  • Real directory structures in packages.
  • 3 different package types:
    • Full packages, to transfer a huge amount of files at once.
    • Single packages, to safe bandwitch if only a few files need to transfered.
    • Link packages, to refer to other archives.
  • Full packages automaticly split into parts if they grow too larger while generation.
  • Dynamic block compression based on zlib.
  • Fully asyncron, any function can be aborted at any time. The task-priority can be set for each asyncron function.
  • Differentiation between system and application files.
  • Fast installation, uninstallation, extraction and convertion routines.
  • Tag-based saving to easy add things later.
Graphic User Interface:
  • Multithreaded MUI applications, can handle multiple indexes at same time.
  • Many editing functions like: add, remove, makedir, add recursive...
  • Cut&Paste edit mode, even over different packages.
  • Dynamic context menus everywhere, even in list-titels.
  • Full locale support.
  • Disabling of unwanted indexes, package classes and packages.
  • Setable colors, styles and dateformat in all listtrees and lists.
  • Controlable through application menus, contextmenus, keyboard.
  • Detailed information groups for packages and files.
  • Toolbar with replaceable icons.
Other:
  • Configurable datatype system with MIME-support.
  • Configurable data classes system, to avoid hardcoded paths.
  • Configurable package classes system, to avoid hardcoded paths.
  • Uses XAD system to support many types of archives in link packages.
  • Packages can have a picture, any size and type is supported.
  • Multilevel log system with possibility to log to disk.
  • Small memory usage.
New Edition of the SUBWAY USB-Controllers
Due to the high demand E3B is happy to anounce a new editon of the reknown and popular USB controller SUBWAY for the Amiga Clockport. Production could commence before the research period of Michael Böhmer and is already revved.
The new edition is supported actively by the former competitor on the USB market. Massimo Mancini - designer of the UltraBUS, unfortunately produced only as a prototype - has ceded its store to E3B and therefore enables a smooth reissue of the SUBWAY, which otherwise almost had failed due to the sales policy of the semiconductor industry and their germand distributors respectively.
As before, Chris Hodges popular USB-Stack Poseidon will be included in the 2.x version. The convenient upgrade-offer, E3B will take over part of the liscencing costs, also applies to the reisued SUBWAY modules and so far is available only for E3B products in the section of USB controllers for the Amiga.
E3B will announce the beginning of shipment for the SUBWAY as usual on the popular news pages. It is already a fact, tha SUBWAY will be available at al major Amiga vendors worldwide. As a novelty, this time distribution for chosen countries will be handled through individual computers to enable al vendors to purchase at low cost (thus enabling low consumer prices). MorphOS: new developers snapshot of MUI 4.0 alpha released
For peole loving to experiment did Stefan Stuntz release an up-to-date snapshot of the current version alpha 4.0 of his Magic User Interface (MUI).
Please note that it is in no way a finished version but still further development is needed - so you use it at your own risk.
Besides, some fundamental changes regarding the internals of MUI were made so that it may well be that some of your older MUI programs won't work anymore under the current version. So it is advised to backup your MUI version before installing this one.
MUI 4.0 alpha is available only for MorphOS, there are no limits of the usability regarding a keyfile or a timeout. Support of AmigaOS 4 is said to still fail because of the lack of supply with such a computer for porting.
To install just unpack the archive's content to MOSSYS. Developers can find the SDK in the file muisdk.lha.
