Cloanto: Amiga Forever 2010.1.5.0 und C64 Forever 2010.1.5.0
Die jüngste Aktualisierung des Emulator-Komplettpakets Amiga Forever von Cloanto, 2010.1.5.0, ist als "Gold-Update" auch die neue Vorlage für die CDs des physischen Produkts. Behoben wurden Fehler die unter bestimmten Bedingungen zu Abstürzen führten sowie einer, der doppelte Einträge in den Inhaltslisten hervorrufen konnte. Darüber hinaus wurde die Arbeit mit RP9-Dateien von Drittanbietern ebenso verbessert wie die Algorithmen zur Thumbnail-Erstellung für die Vorschau.
Parallel wurde auch das Emulatorpaket C64 Forever aktualisiert. Nachfolgend lesen Sie die zugehörige Pressemitteilung.
Amiga Forever and C64 Forever 2010.1 Released
Amiga Forever and C64 Forever are the easy to use emulation, preservation and support packages published by Cloanto, Commodore/Amiga developers since the 1980s. Beyond nostalgia, the packages make accessible to a wide audience a wealth of content and history that is engaging yet casual, and which can still teach a few lessons in gameplay.
Features of the new 2010 versions include:
- Support for new emulated systems (CDTV, CD32, Amiga 600)
- Extended RetroPlatform Library (more than 20,000 titles) and content recognition code
- Support for Open RP9 format (packs multiple disk images and configuration in one file)
- CDTV/CD32 games run directly from original CD media, or from RP9 or ISO images
- Integrated printing via original Amiga EpsonQ drivers (via emulated printer)
- Optimizations for "power users" (content cache, performance, etc.)
- Hundreds of improvements to make the software more powerful and easier to use

The latest versions of Amiga Forever and C64 Forever work side by side to play games directly from a variety of emulation sites, as well as from some types of original media. Content is recognized using the built-in RetroPlatform Library database, which helps identify and automatically start the correct hardware configuration (different PET/CBM models, VIC 20, C64, Amiga, etc.)
In addition to the hundreds of titles which come preinstalled with the software, tens of thousands of games and demoscene productions have been released by their authors for publication on preservation sites. And that's not just C64 or Amiga content, as you can try for yourself...
Some of our original favorites include a Space Invaders clone for the PET 3032 (only 7 KB, download or open to play directly with C64 Forever; scroll down to "space invaders.prg", right after the simpler PET 2001 version) and this Galaga clone (second from top - German page, but software is in English) written in 10 KB of pure machine language.
The above were written almost 30 years ago. With C64 Forever 2010 they can still be click-and-played today - no complex configuration or technical knowledge required. If a more modern system is preferred, Amiga Forever 2010 can recognize, autoconfigure and play most CDTV and CD32 titles (Commodore's Amiga-based game consoles). This includes both original media, and RP9, ISO and .bin/.cue CD image files.
The 2010 versions of Amiga Forever and C64 Forever had originally been released a few weeks ago, and were announced on private forums. Features like the new Open RP9 file format and CD support were so successful among emulation "power users" (who often have thousands of games and gigabytes of CD-based content), that we spent some more time to optimize the experience when the software is used under heavy load. The updated 2010.1 versions, released now and available as free updates to existing 2010 users, reflect this community feedback.

AmigaOS 4: UHexen II 1.4.4-pre9
Die Portierung der aktuellen Betaversion 1.4.4-pre9 von "UHexen II - Hammer of Thyrion" setzt AmigaOS 4.1 Update 2 (sowie eine OpenGL-kompatible Grafikkarte für das Hardware-Rendering) und die Originaldateien des Spiels Hexen II voraus.

AmigaKit: Boing-Ball-Maus (USB)
Der britische Händler AmigaKit hat sein Sortiment um eine schwarze USB-Maus mit Boing-Ball-Motiv erweitert. Die optische Maus weist neben zwei Tasten und einem Mausrad eine Auflösung von 1000 DPI auf. (snx)

AmigaOS 4: Sirena Player 1.04
Beim Sirena Player handelt es sich um einen mit Hollywood geschriebenen Audio-Abspieler, der MP3-, WAV- und MOD-Dateien wiedergibt. In der Version 1.04 wurden diverse Fehler bereinigt sowie eine italienische und spanische Lokalisierung hinzugefügt. Zudem wird jetzt die bevorzugte Schublade gespeichert. (snx)

Hyperion: Videos "25 Jahre Amiga-Entwicklung" und "AmigaOS auf dem e-LAP"
Anlässlich des 25-jährigen Amiga-Jubiläums hat Hyperion Gource auf den AmigaOS-Quellkode angewendet und so dessen Entwicklung visualisiert.
Zudem zeigt ein weiteres Video AmigaOS 4 auf dem e-LAP ("Embedded Linux Application Platform"), einem auf dem PowerPC-Prozessor 405EP basierenden PDA-Referenz-Design von IBM, das jedoch nie als Endkundenprodukt auf den Markt gekommen ist. (snx)

Textanzeiger: EvenMore 0.69 (2.8.10)
Chris Pervers EvenMore ist ein in AmigaE geschriebener Textanzeiger. Seit unserer letzten Meldung wurden die folgenden Neuerungen implementiert:
- Fixed bug which stopped hyperlinks to files outside the EvenMore path from working
- Amended EvenMore data objects to allow it to handle exec lists as file buffers instead of a standard memory block. This will enable files to be loaded much quicker through plugins, etc. without having to worry about allocating enough memory beforehand
- Enabled parsebuffer() and getlines() functions to scan through execlists. Optimised code for these routines so hopefully they should be faster too
- Amended clipboard, printing and file saving routines so they will work with exec lists
- Modified file search function to send results to the main window, using an exec list as a file buffer
- Modified Dir2Text plugin to use an exec list as buffer, instead of a standard memory block

AmigaOS 4: ClipDown 3.0
ClipDown ist eine Ergänzung für die AmigaOS-4-Version des Web-Browsers OWB. Für das Herunterladen und Wiedergeben bzw. nun auch Drucken von Dateien wird deren jeweiliger URL über das Clipboard an wget übergeben. Eine Auflistung der Neuerungen finden Sie unter dem Titellink, zudem stellt der Autor ein diese beschreibendes Video für die Version 3.0 zur Verfügung.

AROS: Interview mit Pascal Papara
Das französische Amiga-Magazin Obligement hat ein Interview mit Pascal Papara geführt, der neben dem AROS-PC "AresOne" auch die Distribution Broadway anbietet sowie die Entwicklung des Amiga Media Center unterstützt. Neben der englischen Fassung unter dem Titellink liegt zudem eine französische Übersetzung vor. (snx)

AROS: Ego-Shooter Quake III Arena
Der Ego-Shooter Quake III Arena steht dank Krzysztof Smiechowicz jetzt auch für AROS zur Verfügung. Benötigt werden die Daten der kommerziellen Version sowie die kostenlos verfügbaren Updates auf Version 1.32. Der Rechner sollte über 256 MB RAM sowie möglichst eine Grafikkarte deren 3D-Funktionalität von AROS unterstützt wird verfügen. (cg)

Entwicklerwerkzeug: vasm 1.4f
Frank Wille stellt ein Update von vasm für AmigaOS 3/4 und MorphOS zur Verfügung, einem portierbaren Assembler, der diverse CPU-Familien unterstützt. Eine Liste der Neuerungen ist unter dem Titellink zu finden. Das Programm ist auch Bestandteil der vbcc-Distribution. (cg)

Preview-Video: Shoot'em Up "Amega-One"
Ein Team rund um Thilo "Der Wanderer" Köhler arbeitet seit rund 10 Monaten an einem klassischen Shoot'em Up im Stil von Hybris. Das mit dem BASIC-Dialekt AmiBlitz entwickelte Spiel benötigt eine Grafikkarte sowie reichlich Prozessorleistung.
Auf dem Amiga Event in Essen (25. Juli) wurde eine spielbare Demoversion unter WinUAE gezeigt, ein Video dieser Vorführung wurde jetzt im Netz veröffentlicht. Ein Thread auf a1k.org dient als eine Art Entwickler-Tagebuch, hier ist die Entstehung sowie der aktuelle Stand des Projekts nachzulesen. (cg)
