Beholder 2, Fire and Ice, Jim Power, Larry 5, Pinball Dreams, Project-X,
Shadowlands, Wolfchild.
Damit ist die Anzahl der AmigaJoker-Testsberichte auf 166 gestiegen.

Deutsche Anleitung zu PageStream 4
(Sehr!) lange hat es gedauert, doch jetzt können wir die deutsche
Anleitung für PageStream 4 freigeben. Sie liegt als PDF-Datei vor, und
ist für alle Systeme (Windows, Amiga und Macintosh) geeignet. Für den
Download muss man die neue Online-Registrierung durchführen.
Die Anleitung befindet sich zusammen mit einer großen Anzahl von
PageStream-Vorlagen, die uns der DTP-Profi Rolf Gabriel zur Verfügung
gestellt hat, auch auf der neuen PageStream-Service-CD-ROM. Diese kann
bei uns zum Unkostenbeitrag von 10,- Euro plus Versandkosten bestellt
werden.
Ebenfalls verfügbar ist die deutsche Lokalisierung für die Amiga-Version.

DCE: Neue Website online
DCE hat deren Website komplett überarbeitet und mit einem neuen, sehr
übersichtlichen Layout versehen. Nach einem ersten kurzen Besuch ist
gleich positiv aufgefallen, dass die Website nun auch wieder mit
Amiga-Browsern problemlos besucht werden kann, und der Download-Bereich
mit Treibersoftware wieder online ist. (ps)

Update to the AmiMPC In Car MP3 Player Web Site
I made some updates to my in-car MP3 player web site, with details of
a new head-unit I made. It looks much better than the old one, almost
'factory' (i.e. and original part of the car). It also has a new digital
potentiometer based volume control which is much better than the old one
(no more skipping). (ps)

Tipp: Rettung unlesbarer Disketten

Vorbemerkung:
Ich hatte Probleme mit dem HD-Floppy-Laufwerk in meinem A4000. Es wurden
Schreibfehler beim Kopieren/Löschen auf/von HD-Disks gemeldet und Versuche,
die Disk neu zu formatieren schlugen ebenfall Fehl mit der Meldung:
"DF0 unlesbar" oder "keine gültige Disk im Laufwerk DF0" usw.
Ich bat im #AC-Forum um Hilfe und es wurde mir
geraten, das Laufwerk zu reinigen. Das tat ich und es funktionierte wieder.
Allerdings waren die "kaputten" HD-Disks dennoch nicht mehr zu formatieren.
In meinem Bestreben, die Dinger unbedingt zu retten versuchte ich, sie mit
"OFS" (also 488 Bytes/Block) zu formatieren...
...und das gelang!
Da das mit WB3.1 und > -Menu "Piktogramm/formatieren..."
jedoch nicht geht, tat ich es über die SHELL mit:
SYS:System/format DRIVE DF0: NAME Empty OFS NOINTL NODIRCACHE NOICONS
Ja, und dann umformatieren auf FFS - nun auch mit dem WB-Menu oder mit
SYS:System/format DRIVE DF0: NAME Empty FFS NOINTL NODIRCACHE NOICONS
Siehe da, ein anschließendes Formatieren mit FFS führte zum Erfolg!!
Vermute, dass damit nicht JEDE kaputte Disk zu retten ist (und die Daten darauf
sowieso nicht), aber einen Versuch ist es allemal Wert!

DeNic warnt erneut vor Abzock-Versuch bei Domain-Inhabern
»Schreiben mit dubiosem Angebot an Domaininhaber versandt
Zahlreiche Domaininhaber haben in den vergangenen Tagen Post mit einer
Rechnung für eine so genannte "Domain-Überprüfung" erhalten. Die DENIC
eG als Registrierungsstelle für DE-Domains weist in diesem Zusammenhang
erneut darauf hin, dass es sich dabei nicht um eine Rechnung für die
DE-Domain handelt. Wer nicht bezahlt, bringt weder seine registrierte
Domain in Gefahr, noch ändert sich etwas an deren Erreichbarkeit.
Zahlungsaufforderungen, die die Funktionalität einer Domain betreffen,
kommen nur von der DENIC oder von dem Internet Service Provider, den
der Domaininhaber selbst beauftragt hat.«

Die Vorstellung des
Pegasos-Systems mit MorphOS in der Sendung 'neues' auf
3Sat wurde abgesagt.
Hier die offizielle Stellungnahme von bplan GmbH:
»Leider müssen wir Ihnen mitteilen, dass der geplante Fernsehbeitrag am
Montag, dem 27.05.2002 um 21.30 Uhr in
'neues - das Computer- und Telekommunikationsmagazin' auf 3Sat
aufgrund von Einflussnahme dritter Parteien nicht stattfinden wird. Den
genaueren Hintergrund können wir Ihnen an dieser Stelle noch nicht
mitteilen. Wir gehen allerdings davon aus, dass der bereits
angekündigte Beitrag zu einem späteren Zeitpunkt erscheinen wird.«

Das ursprünglich vorgesehene Thema Amiga - Back to the Roots entfällt.
Aus aktuellen Gründen wird sich neues. computer und mehr mit den
aktuellen gesetzlichen Entwicklungen im Hinblick auf neue Medien,
insbesondere Computerspiele, beschäftigen. Daniel Rasch begrüßt zu
diesem Thema im Studio den Justizminister des Landes Rheinland-Pfalz,
Herbert Mertin (FDP), und einen Vertreter des Verbandes der
Unterhaltungssoftware Deutschland, VUD (angefragt). (ps)

AmigaOne G3 Präsentation in Leeuwarden fraglich
Wie am 13.05.2002 berichtet,
ist geplant, auf dem AGGF-Treffen am 25. Mai 2002 in Leeuwarden, einen
funktionierenden AmigaOne G3 zu präsentieren. Leider kann derzeit nicht
garantiert werden, dass diese Präsentation auch stattfinden kann, weil
das Board laut Eyetech erst am Freitag per UPS abgeschickt werden kann.
Es ist also fraglich, ob es dann rechtzeitig am Samstag eintrifft. Damit
niemand umsonst anreist, werden wir hier noch bekanntgeben, ob das Board
eingetroffen ist, oder nicht. Lesen Sie im Anschluss die Originalmeldung:
Originally Computer City (the 13-5 announcement) planned to show a working
AmigaONE in Leeuwarden on saturday the 25th. We now can not gaurantee that
this will happen. According to the Eyetech the board will be send on
friday by UPS express and we hope it will arrive on saturday. But we, AGGF
and Computer City, can't guarantee that we receive this board on saturday.
For the people which are traveling from far, we let you now as soon as
possible if the AmigaONE is received by Computer City on saturday so that
you won't travel for nothing. Offcourse our market with new and secondhand
Amiga stuff will normally be hold in Leeuwarden.

Golem: Verstößt Linux gegen die GPL?
»FSF-Gründer Richard Stallman kritisiert Linus Torvalds
Auch wenn die Free Software Foundation seit Jahren den Namen GNU/Linux für das
freie Betriebssystem propagiert, fällt GNU doch zumeist unter den Tisch, auch
wenn das Betriebssystem zu weiten Teilen aus GNU-Software besteht - Linux ist
nur der Kernel. Allen voran tritt FSF-Gründer Richard Stallman dafür ein, den
Anteil des GNU-Projekts zu betonen und übt in diesem Zusammenhang regelmäßig
Kritik. In einem aktuellen Artikel, der unter LinuxWorld.com veröffentlicht
wurde, findet Stallman harte Worte in Richtung Linux und insbesondere Linus
Torvalds.«

Tao Group: Kyocera and Tao Set New Standards for PDAs
Release of best-in-class `Pocket Cosmo'
E3, Los Angeles, Ca., May 22nd 2002 - Kyocera Corporation has announced 'Pocket Cosmo', its next generation PDA based on Tao's intent® universal multimedia platform. This will be sold from the end of July, initially targeted at the networks and at corporate users. The Pocket Cosmo device will be able to deliver a new level of richer contents to the user. Kyocera believes that it is these richer contents that will drive the rapid growth of the mobile data communication market.
Kyocera has used Tao Group's intent embedded application environment including its native operating system. Together they enable a very small memory footprint and hitherto unmatched performance levels. Due to the performance of intent, the new PDA runs Java(TM) programs many times faster than any other client device and it has levels of multimedia functionality never before seen on mobile handsets enabling the kind of content upon which consumers will place a very high premium.
The Pocket Cosmo Fast Java environment enhances the usability of the PDA. Its first iteration supports Tao's intent PersonalJava(TM) edition which is Sun Microsystems-branded and compatible with PersonalJava 1.2. intent is the first practical Java execution environment for these kinds of devices.
The user interface of the Pocket Cosmo is entirely original with rich menus supporting 3D movement and smooth scrolling and with instantaneous switching of applications.
Hirao Nishiguchi, President of Kyocera said, "We are aiming to deliver new services, ones which customers can easily utilize and derive real value. Combining the technologies at Kyocera with the Tao expertise has allowed us to develop this extremely exciting Pocket Cosmo PDA."
Francis Charig, Executive Chairman of Tao Group said at the E3 show in Los Angeles, "The work undertaken by Kyocera to develop a truly intuitive interface has been inspirational. Kyocera is sending out a signal to manufacturers and carriers that by using intent as the language independent, universal multimedia platform they can create their own brand recognition in a way that would be impossible with any other software technology. Kyocera has developed a product that proves that there is software technology existing already today that enables the running of content in an easy-to-use manner that really does meet the expectations of the consumer. Pocket Cosmo is a ground breaking product and Kyocera has set a new benchmark in the market place."
Kyocera was one of the founder members of the Open Contents Platform Association [OCPA] in October 2001 and its President, Yasuo Nishiguchi, is the OCPA's Chairman. The OCPA's objective is to deliver rich media contents across a common platform and it has adopted Tao's intent as the core software for the standardization. The launch of the OCPA was only 8 months ago, and this is the first Kyocera product to utilize intent.
