ACube Systems: Sam460LE boards announced / Pre-order campaign
Press release: After many months, we are so happy to announce we are very close to a production start for a new batch of Sam460 boards.
Well, these will not be Sam460 but Sam460LE, i.e. Limited Edition.
Due to the pandemic time and huge delays in delivering hardware components, we had to spend a lot more time than planned to find all components for a production run. Finally, we reached a point where we need your help to start this production.
We are now taking pre-orders for these Sam460LE boards. You can find a pre-order product right now in our online shop.
All Sam460LE bundles are made of:
- Sam460LE board running up to 1.1 Ghz
- Micro-ATX form factor with enough space for double slot graphic cards ;-)
- MicroSD Slot at the rear of the board, so it can operated from the back.
- 1 backplate
- AmigaOS 4.1 FE
- final price is 735 Euros VAT excluded (european countries should add 22% VAT).
Pre-orders will be processed as follows:
- you can pay now 240 Euros (VAT excluded, see above), for a Sam460 package
- we'll announce on all social media when the production starts
- we'll also announce when the production has been completed
- you will be asked one by one, to complete your payment (basically, the total cost minus what you paid as the pre-order)
- first payment, first served. We'll ship in the same order we receive the remaining payments.
- in case you decide to ask for a refund, we'll send your money back without condition.
Note: people that will purchase outside the scope of this pre-order offer will have to pay a final price of 785 Euros for the same product.
We are happy to work with you on this effort to bring more Sam460 boards on the market and we hope you will join us in this project! (dr)

Commercial RPG: Glamorous Zombie Flakes (OCS/AGA/RTG)
The developers of 'Glamorous Zombie Flakes' describe it as an "oldschool, console-style RPG", where the player must guide a group of models to cure zombies of their bizarre affliction and chase UFOs. The title features more than 30 different zombie types, more than 100 items and a turn-based strategy "intervention" system.
On AGA or RTG machines, the game supports 256 colors. There's a special build for OCS based Amigas that uses the EHB mode featuring 64 colors. 'Glamorous Zombie Flakes' requires a 68040 CPU, 3.5 MB RAM as well as AHI and can be bought from itch.io for 14 USD (or any higher amount).
A few days ago, additional "experimental" Amiga builds that run faster on AGA machines and support CD32 joypads have been released. (cg)

Hollywood plugin: Plananarama 2.0 released

Press release: Airsoft Softwair, the hardest working men in code business, continue Hollywood's 20th anniversary celebrations with yet another major new release: Plananarama 2.0. Plananarama is the magic plugin which allows Hollywood scripts to be run on classic Amiga hardware without any graphics board. Once Plananarama is installed, all Hollywood scripts will 'automagically' run on palette screens as well! All resolutions are supported - from 8-bit LowRes to 1-bit productivity SuperHighRes Interlace.
Version 2.0 is a major update which makes use of many new features offered exclusively by Hollywood 9. By integrating seamlessly with Hollywood 9's new palette interface, it is now possible to write scripts which make use of the Amiga's custom chip hardware for a much better performance. Here is a non-exhaustive list of the new features in Plananarama 2.0:
- support for Amiga hardware sprites
- direct access to color registers for all kinds of effects like color cycling and fading
- true palette based drawing without any color remapping
- Unicode support
- screen menus are now supported
- drag'n'drop support
- guigfx.library and render.library are only needed when in remapping mode
- added a fully featured documentation in AmigaGuide, PDF and HTML
- added three new example scripts demonstrating the new features like hardware sprites
- several bug fixes and other improvements
Plananarama 2.0 is now available for free download from the official Hollywood portal. For its basic functionality Plananarama requires Hollywood 6 but all the new functions introduced in version 2.0 require Hollywood 9 which is why we highly recommend upgrading to Hollywood 9 if you haven't done that yet.
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of Hollywood we also offer a special 20 euros discount on the full version of Hollywood for a limited time only. This is the perfect chance for all people who don't own Hollywood yet to grab their own copy and to explore the wonderful world of Hollywood and be fascinated by the gigantic functionality of this unique piece of software and all of the plugins that come with it! Word processing: FinalWriter update status
Just about a year ago, we last reported on the update for Finalwriter first announced by new rights owner Timothy "Terminills" Deters in 2015. Yesterday, the developer briefly outlined the current status on Amigans and MorphZone respectively:
According to them that there would now have been a "feature freeze" and it would now only be about bug fixes. Furthermore he explains that the AmigaOS4 port depends on whether he has the money to pay a developer for the port after the release of the AROS and MorphOS versions. In total there were 5 developers working on the current version until Deters owned it. The changes so far:
- RTF updated
- Libharu implemented(PDF Saving/Printing Support)
- MySpell(Updated Spell Checker). Spell checker can now work real time
- Libcurl support for direct printing
- 64Bit fixes
- Modernizing layout
- P96 support

After a currently sold out version for the installation of the FPGA Amiga clone MiSTer into an Amiga 500 case, there is now with the MiSTress 1200 under the title link also a corresponding extension for the case of the Amiga 1200 (original or replica).
The MiSTress is used to install the FPGA computer into the Amiga case, whereby the original keyboard can still be used. The rear openings for the original connections are used to make the sockets for the network, USB, SD card, joystick, audio, HDMI and analog VGA/RGB connections, among others, accessible. (snx)

AROS distribution: The 100% Useless AROS Distribution 0.3
Marcus 'ALB42' Sackrow has released version 0.3 of his "The 100% Useless AROS Distribution" at the title link. The reason for this is the version AROS ABIv11 for 64-bit Intel and AMD processors released by the developer 'deadwood' at the beginning of January (official GitHub page).
This new AROS version doesn't support symmetric multiprocessing anymore, which makes the compilation of his programs easier. Included are some of his programs like MUIMapparium, LEU, AYA, AmiTube or MCAmiga. The distribution serves the developer primarily as a test environment for his FreePascal AROS64 development, which is why it can neither be called finished nor stable. However, the applications work "reasonably well", only with the calculation of the font size there would be problems.
This new version can be downloaded from the corresponding website. (dr)

RTG driver: P96 V3.2.3 released
At the beginning of January, Individual Computers had updated its graphics card driver P96 to version 3.2.2. Not on the official homepage, but in the support forum, Jens Schönfeld announced that he had uploaded version 3.2.3 with the following changes:
- P96 no longer attempts to set the beamcon0 register and the vtotal register of the custom chips in case the active video mode is on an RTG board that is not in the display chain.
- Even though bitmaps were locked, memory management could have migrated them off the board if memory was getting tight. This may have caused quite some issues on "close-to-zero" memory situations.
- As BlitMaskBitMap was potentially allocating memory for the mask buffer, it could have migrated the bitmaps it was actually supposed to render, causing all kinds of havocs. To avoid this problem, source and target bitmap for a two-bitmap operation are now locked on the board. This is actually a very old bug that goes back to the 2.x release cycle.
- A possible memory inconsistency in P96Mode was fixed where an incorrect memory pointer was released.
- The Altais and RetinaBLT drivers did not record the state of the monitor switch correctly. As a result of this defect, the SetDPMS() function to enable power saving may have failed, keeping the monitor on all the time.
- The rtg.library may have attempted to switch of the Altais display on a Draco system without ever turning it on again.
- Fixed a very old bug on adjusting the line pattern shift upon drawing into multiple cliprects. This bug was apparently introduced while merging my own P96 version with the last official version by the authors. This bug could have introduced artefacts when drawing "marquee" effects for selecting multiple files in alternative file managers.
- When switching buffers on a double-buffered screens, P96 forcibly reloaded the sprite image, which caused flicker on some RTG boards. This version now avoids reloading the sprite unless absolutely necessary.

Controlling Sonos speakers: SonosController 1.2 (OS3/4, MorphOS)
Well-known for his workbench simulation TAWS, Michael Rupp had released his first Amiga program at the beginning of August, which is used to control Sonos speakers: SonosController (amiga-news.de reported). After a first update, he has released version 1.2 today for his program written in the Hollywood programming language, which is again available for MorphOS and AmigaOS 3 and 4 (screenshots in that order):
Highlights of the new version are room grouping functionality, better handling when Sonos devices are switched on or off and localization including German, Italian and Dutch translation. Michael Rupp was able to intensively test and use the updated RapaGUI plugin during the development of the new version. Regardless of the availability of a Sonos speaker, the author is happy if users basically test the program on the different platforms and give him feedback.
Detailed changelog:
- NEW: support for grouping and ungrouping devices. When grouped, volume and muting can either be set for the whole group or for each device individually.
- NEW: support for devices that suddenly appear or disappear from the Sonos system, for example when turned on or off.
- NEW: timeout for devices to respond can be configured in the Preferences. On slower Amigas it might be necessary to increase the timeout (default is 5s).
- NEW: implemented localization
- NEW: german catalog: feel free to use it as a template to create catalog files for other languages. Check out the following link for info on how to do it: https://hollywood-mal.com/docs/html/hollywood/CatalogFormatNote.html
- NEW: italian catalog by Samir Hawamdeh. Thanks for this!
- NEW: dutch catalog by Dave "Skateman" Koelman. Thanks for this, too!
- NEW: if no devices can be found by the network scan, it's now enough to add just one single device by its IP address. This one will then be queried to return all the others.
- NEW: added a "Cancel" button to the requester that pops up if the network scan couldn't find anything (requested by Steve Harrison).
- NEW: added a version check of reqtools.library where needed (on AmigaOS 3.x and MorphOS) when adding devices manually and letting the user know, if the version installed is not sufficient (v39 or higher is needed). After confirming with "OK", the URL of the download page on Aminet is automatically opened.
- NEW: displaying the loading's progress when browsing the music library incl. the possibility to cancel it by pressing the [<] button.
- NEW: button "Clear Queue" is disabled for an empty queue.
- IMPROVED: quicker network scan because now it's enough to find one single device to connect to.
- CHANGED: for the non-AmigaOS 3.x versions the shortcuts for "Next" / "Previous" are changed from Alt-LEFT/RIGHT back to Ctrl-LEFT/RIGHT (as it was in v1.0), because only on an Amiga keyboard the Alt key is the closest qualifier key to the cursor keys, but on keyboards used on NG-Amigas it's usually the Ctrl key.
- FIXED: nasty networking bug that caused SonosController to freeze after a while, especially on AmigaOS 3.x.
- FIXED: possible crash when searching something without results, searching some more and going back again.
- FIXED: switching between "Pause" and "Play" sometimes made the button move a pixel.
- FIXED: as long a no Sonos devices are found, all controls are now disabled by default, avoiding possible crashes.
- FIXED: Control menu items are now disabled according to the corresponding buttons.
- FIXED: suppressing shortcuts for "Next" and "Previous" while the search field is focused, because Ctrl/Alt-Left/Right is used to navigate inside the textentry.
- FIXED: MUI 5 column widths in the Music Library browser listview.
- FIXED: display of room's names with MUI 4.0
- FIXED: replaced calls to "OpenURL" with "URLOpen" in the AmigaGuide for AmigaOS 4.x.

Real-time strategy: Command & Conquer is ported to the Amiga
Artur Jarosik is known for various game ports like the platformer Hydra Castle Labyrinth or the action adventure Heart of Darkness, besides his SDL implementation of the browser NetSurf. Now, as a contribution to the AmiGameJam, he has started to port the first part of the real-time strategy series Command & Conquer to the Amiga and named it "Vanilla Conquer".
The video published the day before yesterday shows the beta version of his game. As Artur Jarosik explained to us, the game is primarily intended for Amigas upgraded with an Apollo processor. However, it could also be playable on a 68060 processor with a grafics card with the music and sound effects turned off. Since the audio code is very resource hungry, it is explicitly written for V4 SAGA audio.
If you want to support the author, you can do so on his Patreon website. (dr)

Game Construction Kit: RedPill 0.9.6
RedPill, developed by Carlos Peris, is a game construction kit written in Amiblitz 3.8, which allows the development of games from various genres (see short tests of two Redpill games). RedPill is compatible with AGA and ECS, the "player" for playing the finished creations requires a total of 1.5 MB RAM.
This new version 0.9.6 provides many changes. Among other things, some games can now run on an Amiga with only 0.5MB chip RAM (Fast RAM still required). Also the loading of levels has been optimized and it is now much faster to switch between levels during the game. (dr)

Apollo-Team: Apollo V2 Accelerators Support Statement
Press release:
Dear V2 users,
Apollo V2-series have been an extremely successful and hugely loved Amiga accelerator since 2014.
Vast amounts of Amiga’s were resurrected from a lonely existence in the attic by “Vampirising” with the V2-600, V2-500 and V2-1200 cards featuring the powerful AMMX 68080 CPU.
Last year the Apollo Team declared the V2 accelerators End-of-Sale and introduced the new V4 range for Amiga 500/1000/2000 (Firebird), Amiga 1200 (Icedrake) and Amiga 4000 (Kraken) (amiga-news.de reported).
In this Support Statement we want to give full clarity to our Apollo Vampire V2 user base about the end of the Roadmap for the Apollo V2 accelerators.
Fixes:
Apollo Team has always been and will always be 100% focused on compatibility, giving our users the best Amiga experience.
We continue to collect, analyse and mitigate reported issues from our users, specifically any experiences in game & demo incompatibilities. The recent maintenance v2.15 ApolloCore release for all V2-series shows our commitment and loyalty to V2 community.
For the foreseeable future the Apollo Team will keep bringing new “maintenance” ApolloCore release to V2 accelerators.
Features:
The physical limits of the possibilities in the V2-Series FPGA have been reached. This means the current functionality will be frozen, including the support for targeted OS platforms.
In practice, this means there are no new features to be expected. The V2 range will NOT support any other OS than Amiga OS3.x. Users that want to experience all new developments in ApolloOS, including the ApolloBoot multi-OS solution running up to 10 operating systems, are encouraged to look at the new Apollo V4 accelerators.
We hope that this Support Statement gives the needed clarity on the remaining Roadmap for the V2 accelerators. Please give us your feedback or tips for bug-fixes on the Apollo Discord channel: v2-series. (dr)

Emulator: WinUAE 4.9.1
The Amiga emulator WinUAE has been updated to version 4.9.1. Changes:
Bug fixes of version 4.9.0
- JIT indirect was unstable.
- JIT enabled + emulated (not uaegfx) RTG board corruption was possible in certain situations.
- Direct 3D 11 mode shader buffer leak.
- x86 AT bridgeboard (A2286 and A2386SX) boot crash.
- PCem RTG board 15 and 16-bit lores modes didn’t horizontally double correctly.
- Remove interlace artifact option added 1 scanline offset to bitplanes and sprites.
- Custom chipset and programmed display mode updates and fixes.
Older bug fixes
- Mouse would start moving erratically if emulator has been running continuously more than 10 hours.
- Integer scaling only worked correctly if horizontal (lores, hires, superhires) and vertical resolution (non-doubled, doubled) matched.Filtered lores had wrong colors if host graphics mode was 16-bit.
- NTSC mode and software switch to PAL: display was incorrectly vertically stretched.
- Software YUV based filters had bad colors (32-bit only)
- Paula configured for 4us (GCR) mode but normal 2us MFM disk in drive: disk index reporting was unreliable.
Updates
- Programmed display mode improvements (positioning, blanking etc)
- uaegfx Picasso96 overlay now works correctly with screen dragging.
New features
- It is now possible to type (almost) normally in warp mode. Keyboard key (if non-qualifier key) presses are released immediately in warp mode.
- Epson printer emulation does not anymore print each page as a separate document.
- Added IDE scsi.device disable hack. Makes booting noticeably quicker on OS39 and newer KS versions if mainboard IDE is not needed.
- PCem Cirrus Logic SVGA emulation planar support enabled. Picasso96 supports 4bit/16 color planar mode.
- "Default" filter and integer scale filters now automatically double horizontal or vertically if horizontal and vertical resolutions are different (for example lores + vertical doubling)

Programming contest: BASIC 10Liner Contest
Homeputerium is the name of the home computer laboratory of the Eider-Treene school in Friedrichstadt. Using donated computers like Commodore 64, Atari-400, Schneider CPC-464 or Amiga 500 there pupils can make themselves familiar with them and create some sound or colorful lines by writing little BASIC programs.
The organizers wrote: "The BASIC 10Liner Contest started 2011 as a party fun at the NOMAM meeting in Northern Germany. NOMAM means 'Not only marvelous Atari machinery' and is an annual meeting from classic computer enthusiasts. The visitors of the meeting decided to hold a little contest: Write a program in 10 lines of BASIC on Atari Computers! We had loads of fun with programming the whole weekend. 2013 we decided to repeat the contest. This time only games were allowed. In 2014 we opened the 10Liner contest also for programmers who did not visit to the meeting. Owners of other 8 bit computer requested to open the contest for their machines. We met the wish and opened it for all 8 bit computers."
This year the 11th Edition of BASIC 10 Liner Contest takes place. And also Amigas as 16 bit computers can partiticipate: In the category "Wild" those contributions can be sent in. You can get some inspiration from contributions of the previous years. Additional to many little games, two programs for the Amiga were also written: In 2018 Matteo Trevisan wrote an "Amiga BASIC Login" (fourth post) and in 2019 an "Amiga 500 Chatbot", listet as first post.
Deadline for submissions: Saturday, March 26, 2022, 6 p.m. CET. Award ceremony: Saturday, April 9, 2022 at NOMAM. A detailed overview of the submitted programs can be found at bunsen.itch.io. (dr)

Text viewer: NEXT 4.1
In 2002 Jürgen Klawitter reported us for the last time a new version of his text viewer NEXT (version 3.5), the last public version 4.0 was from May 31, 2011. But as the author writes, NEXT is much more than a pure text viewer: it is also Amigaguide replacement, HTML offline browser, DataTypes viewer, uncruncher, unpacker of archives, file converter, print utility and some more. This versatility is also the reason why the program was installed from the beginning on my Amiga 1200, integrated via ToolsMenu. Next also has a very powerful search function, which marks all occurrences of a searched term at the same time and allows searching with wildcards and in binary files.
As the author explains to us when asked, he has not been involved with programming and the Amiga since 2011 and has devoted himself to other hobbies. His Amiga hardware, an A3000 and a second floppy drive, were given away. Only a Zip drive, which was never used before, is in the depot. His turning away from the Amiga at that time had among other things to do with the fact that he couldn't read or use PDFs and other files that were common in the PC world.
The return to programming, Jürgen Klawitter continues, came in this winter of 2021/22, which also limited him in his leisure activities and caused boredom. So he came up with the idea to install WinUAE on his laptop:
"After this was successful, I tried out how much of my former programming knowledge was still left. Surprisingly much, actually everything was still there! Nevertheless, there were difficulties to understand the source code of the more extensive programs again. Next has about 20000 lines, Anno (calendar) and OMon (system monitor) about 6000 lines each.
Parts of it are quite complicated. I then started to implement small improvements, first with Anno, later with Next. With Next, I was particularly annoyed by the fact that I had not managed to get the converted text from docx files into a reasonable form. I finally found details of the format on the internet and a tag () that was responsible for the outline in paragraphs. That was the breakthrough."
NEXT formats loaded text before it is displayed. In the process, lines that are too long are wrapped at word boundaries and characters that cannot be displayed are replaced by spaces. Color, style, and print control sequences are preserved.
Finally, a small test shall show how Word files are loaded, for which the following example poem - written and saved in Word 2010 - shall serve us:
To load a Word document either UnZip is needed or the XAD system. For the use of the latter one goes either over the menu option "Use XAD" or creates itself a "next.prefs" text file under Prefs/Env-Archive with the contents "XAD". In this configuration file you can also define window dimensions, font and colors for the text display.
As Jürgen Klawitter writes, from files of the Microsoft word processors Word and Write (extensions .doc or .docx and .wri) the plain text is extracted and formatted. For Word documents with the extension .doc, references to footnotes and the footnotes themselves are numbered ([1],[2]...). The same applies to annotations, recognizable by the preceding "A"([A1],[A2]...). Since a docx file is always a zip archive, it takes two steps to get to the text: Next, after selecting a docx file, presents the contents in a small window. Each archive contains 10 or more xml files, which contain stylesheets, images, comments and footnotes, but only one of them contains the text:
By selecting "word/document.xml" you can now see the text:
As you can see, the conversion of .docx files results in pure continuous text, without styles. The information about them is in stylesheets, which are hidden in the other files. As the author writes, "taking stylesheets into account would require a disproportionate amount of extra work, which I do not want to do – if at all possible." (dr)

Aracade game: Green Beret released (update)
Green Beret is a conversion of Konami's arcade classic of the same name to the Amiga, written using the Scorpion Engine.
Basically, the game is not meant to be a 1:1 port. The player is much more "agile", as he can stab from ladders, for exampl). It also brings some advantages, such as permanently dropped items and more colors (due to the use of the Amiga Copper chip, which adds additional screen colors). Also, there is newly arranged music by DJ Metune instead of the simple military march (more tracks will be added through ongoing updates).
The game runs on any Amiga with 512KB Chip RAM and 512KB Fast RAM.
Update: (06.02.2022, 07:02, dr)
As the developer reports on its Twitter channel, it has updated the game several times since its release: for example, an initial update that allowed the player to jump higher has been withdrawn. Many players had complained that this higher jump ruined the game, as it defeated the purpose of ladders: you could simply jump to reach another floor. The developer has now adjusted the jump so that the player can still jump from truck to truck or over land mines in the first level, but just not reach a higher floor with it.
In the update released today, a new music track was added, which will be played in stages 2 and 4. (dr)

Developer blog: Status update on RGBtoHDMI board
Developer Andrew Hutchings reports on his website LinuxJedi about the latest progress and developments of projects he is involved in.
In his latest entry Amiga RGBtoHDMI Boards Update – January 2022 he summarizes the state of development regarding his version of the RGBtoHDMI adapter, which is based on the RGBtoHDMI project and is a further development of the Amiga VideoSlot RGBtoHDMI adapter for the Amiga2000 by 'Bloodmosher': The goal of the RGBtoHDMI project is to feed raw digital RGB data into a Raspberry Pi Zero, which then outputs it via HDMI to produce a pixel-perfect display of the image with low latency.
Among other things, he reports that he has developed an RGBtoHDMI tester so that homemade RGBtoHDMI adapters do not have to be tried out on a real Amiga and possibly damage it (can also be purchased). Furthermore he describes the changes he has made in the meantime to the respective versions for Amiga 500, Amiga 1000 and Amiga 2000. Also here he shows possibilities where these can be purchased. The possession of a Raspberry Pi Zero is assumed in each case. (dr)

AmiTube 0.8: YouTube client for 68k-Amigas
Marcus 'ALB42' Sackrow's AmiTube enables watching YouTube videos on an 68k Amiga. To do so, they are converted to Commodore's CDXL format and downloaded (video).
Today version 0.8 has been released which provides an improved download speed and a lot of bug fixes. Besides, now there is an AmigaGuide help. Detailed changes:
- Faster download speed
- bugfix download speed display
- bugfix invalid moviedir
- bugfix load icon when a download is running
- bugfix start a download when one is already running
- bugfix clipboard device
- sort results in list by name, duration or size
- choice to ask for a path everytime a conversation job is started, if canceled the default moviedir is used
- Italian and Polish translation
- alternative more colorful icons for AmiTube and folder
- AmigaGuide Help
The latest version always is available on the AmiTube website or via update check in the application.
Please not that conversion is executed on the developer's personal server, thus he asks to restrict oneself to few and short videos. Furthermore the program must not be shared but always be downloaded from the author's website at the title link. (dr)

Lionheart Remake: Version 1.20 of Java port of Lionheart released
After Byron 3D Games Studio started with the development of 1.2.0 of the Java version of the Amiga game Lionheart in November (amiga-news.de reported), this version has been released today.
Both the settings program and the game itself are localized in German, French, Spanish and English:
When restarting via the *.bat file, the settings program seems to have remembered the last language set, but the output is still in English. Only by switching back and forth does the setting also take effect. Version 1.2.0 contains a new underworld theme, beginner stages and many fixes:
A teaser video is available on the game's homepage.
Update: (30.01.2022, 06:39, dr)
As the developer Pierre-Alexandre informs us, the bug in the settings program has been fixed in the meantime. (dr)

BASIC compiler: AQB 0.8.2
By his compiler AQB, Günter Bartsch aims to implement a modern, clean, Amiga compatible and future-proof BASIC that is geared to, but no clone of Microsoft's AmigaBASIC and QuickBASIC, respectively (amiga-news.de reported).
About the new version 0.8.2 (detailed changelog) the author stated:
"The new features and changes correspond to a colorful hodgepodge, because I have essentially worked through the wishes and especially the bug reports of the users, which came in large numbers since the last release. New features were mainly in the runtime: for example, there are now instructions and functions for the sound output. There are also new tutorials and a simple music demo program:
The input/output system has undergone a significant overhaul, the runtime now provides the complete set of instructions and commands for text input and output both on the screen and in files (though support for direct access and binary files is still missing). Furthermore I added some functions for string processing, also here the runtime is now much more complete than before.
The bug fixes run through all areas, but central are the numerous bug fixes in the compiler, which should significantly improve both the stability of the compiler itself and the quality of the generated code." (dr)

Game Construction Kit: Scorpion Engine V2022.1
The "Scorpion Engine" developed by Erik 'earok' Hogan allows you to develop games. The engine itself is closed source, all demos and example games are open source. The editor runs under Windows. Graphics are imported as PNG files, levels created by using the editor Tiled eingesetzt. For importing and creating sounds, music and animations the Amiga formats (mod, 8svx, anim5) are used.
Yesterday version 2022.1 has been released adding screen size settings, new movement types and more (teaser video). (dr)

Amigaland: 324 games online
At the beginning of the new year, Mirko Engelhardt writes about achievements and future plans:
"We now have 324 games online, of which 28 games are also available on CD 32 or CD, plus 86 PD games. We've never had this many games online before. That was a real feat in 2021 and also already in January 2022. We will continue to expand that: Promise! The goal is to have at least 600 downloads in total this year. This includes the PD stuff. For apps, we want to increase to at least 10 (currently 4), and for demos to 40 (currently 18). Also in focus are the books, which we want to give to the respective history offers. Just rummage around and you will increasingly find what you are looking for. A goal for 2022 is also the presentation of all companies that support Amigaland so far (that will be hard :)) If you have any other wishes, please let us know. We will then also do that :)" (dr)

Hyperion blog apparently hacked by spammers
At the end of 2010, Hyperion had introduced a "developer blog" to inform users about current events around AmigaOS 4. The last official contributions date back to 2017, from then technical director Costel Mincea. Then in November, The Ultimate Guide To Online Dating was the first entry that had a recognizably unofficial character. Since the beginning of the year, there has been an update on Windows and related topics every few days, each with links to download portals and similar offers well hidden in the text. (cg)
