Alinea Computer (ANF)

ALINEA Computer introduces itself to the public
Wehrheim, Germany, the 14th of november 2005.

Alinea Computer is proud of presenting itself as a new company for Amiga-Software. We are an enterprise which concentrates it's work mainly on the development and the distribution of AmigaOS 4 applications and games. Besides, we offer support services like CD production, webdesign and dataprint. The following Amiga-Software is now available:

ANotice 2 - a memo programme

ANotice 2 is a memo programme for your workbench. It will help you to manage your notes, dates, to-do-lists or other important information. You can easily and fast change the notice and export it into different text-formats. ANotice 2 can manage up to 13 notes and each note can be designed individually with 13 different background and text- colors, 7 textures, different fonts and 4 text attributes.

Besides the large reaction-prefs which can controll all functions, ANotice 2 includes a network-function with client-server-programme, so that distributing a to-do-list in an enterprise can easily be done.

ANotice 2 was programmed as a commodity and runs totaly system friendly. It operates on each Amiga with at least AmigaOS 4.0. You do not need any other libraries or additional programmes.

ANotice 2 is delivered by E-Mail and costs 5,95 Euro only.

AmiPhoto - a quick and comfortable photo-manager

AmiPhoto is a photo album for your digital photos and pictures. It's easy handling and attractive GUI will convince you. You can manage up to half a million pictures in 500 albums at the most. You can show the photos on the surface or by multiview. Because of a direct support of the Amiga OS4.0 datatype-system, it is possible to use all picture-formats which exist as datatype. AmiPhoto can further select and show the EXIF-dates of your digital photos.

For adapting perfectly on your workbench-skin, AmiPhotos uses it's own Bitmap-skin-system. The 17 skins you find on your CD will help you to style your AmiPhoto surface. You can certainly create your own skins. We would be proud to present your skin on our website. AmiPhoto is programmed totaly system friendly. It supports the application library and does not need any additional libraries.

AmiPhoto is delivered an CD and costs just 19,95 Euro.

Freeware

The main ambition of Alinea Computer is to support the Amiga market. That's the reason why we will continue releasing programmes free of charge, so that the existing lack of Amiga-Software can be repaired. We hope you can use our software and we would be happy to hear some feedback concerning our products.

You'll find more information on our website. You can buy all our products in our Alinea-Shop. As a dealer, please contact us via this e-mail.

We would be glad to welcome you as a new customer! (cg) (Translation: cg)

AROS: Interview with Michal Schulz (English)
Paul J. Beel has carried out an interview with AROS developer Michal Schulz within the scope of his blog "The AROS Show." Herein, among other things, in addition to his personal career as programmer, he also describes what AROS lacks most desperately at present, in his opinion: that is particularly a better documentation for developers, reportedly, in addition to more drivers as well as a complete compiler toolchain.

Michael Schulz has contributed, among other things, the native bootability on x86 systems, the first versions of the trackdisk.device and the ide.device, a new ata.device, as well as a range of drivers, to AROS. (snx) (Translation: cad)

Interested people should possibly live in Germany (headword: postage costs), own a functional amiga system and a Prometheus (firmware revision doesn't matter), run dma cards (like 100MBit RTL8139, usb NEC) in their system and should have a tolerable knowledge of it.

Anybody who wants to assist bringing the Prometheus board one important step further, can contact Michael Böhmer atE-Mail. (ps) (Translation: ts)

Browser: Status update for Paihia development
Under the title link, a status update for the development status of Paihia was published, a browser planned for all Amiga systems.

Reportedly, the CSS engine is currently as good as done and is checked using the W3C test suite. The language parts of EcmaScript are also complete, whereas the object library is not, yet. The Document Object Model in Version Level 3, on the other hand, is implemented only to 20%.

Reportedly, all this and the source code of the Paihia Web-Engine requires less than 700 KB uncompressed, and is compiled by Visual Studio to a binary file that is only around 300 KB in size.

Grande Paihia should become a modern, small, fast and portable web browser, which fully supports XML, HTML 4, CSS 2.1, DOM Level 3 and EcmaScript 3. The browser, according to the author, is written from scratch and is based on no existing web software. (snx) (Translation: cad)

AmigaOS 4: RockBEAT 1.2.1
RockBEAT is a simple software drum machine for AmigaOS 4 by James Carroll. It is a tool for musicians that allows you to create drumming tracks.

It can create multiple tracks, each one being 4x 4/4 measures with 16th notes. You can save individual tracks as WAV files, or the whole thing as one big song. You can drop in your own 16 Bit 44100 Hz PCM WAV samples in the drumsamples folder if you like.

Version 1.2.1 fixes an important bug. The WAV files that were generated by RockBEAT had an incorrect header value.

The demo is restricted to 10 minutes. If you like it, you can purchase a keyfile from the author for 15 US-Dollar. (snx)

Unlike other applications limited to typical lowpass, highpass, bandpass and bandstop frequency responses, or limited set of frequency points, DigiFilter features graphical frequency response editor.

The program uses windowing design technique with rectangle, triangle, Blackman and Kaiser windows up to 2048 taps.

Designed responses may be stored to file and loaded later. Set of tap multipliers for a designed filter may be saved to a text file as a set of floating point numbers.

The MorphOS version has been made possible thanks to a free ODW development system from Genesi/Freescale. It requires MorphOS 1.4.5, the 3D Update and a supported gfx board.

Virtual Grand Prix 2 is a modern open-wheeled racecar simulator by Paolo Cattani and his staff at Alas Soft. It is the sequel of the original Virtual Grand Prix developed for the Amiga range of computers.

VGP2 uses industrial standards for the simulation of the mechanical components of the car, thus achieving a very high degree of realism in the handling of the virtual one-seater.

The MorphOS version of Virtual Grand Prix 2 is free for personal use and can be downloaded from the title link. However, if you think that the software deserves it, you can make a small donation for it. According to the authors, you can consider it as a kind of "sequel-ware" - i.e. if they collect some money, they might port any further development of the game or sequels to MorphOS as well.

Update: (19:00, 01.11.05, snx)
Andrea Maniero points out that the MorphOS version is compatible with additional tracks that have been created for the Mac and Win versions (you just need to edit the VGP2/config/circuiti.config file accordingly), and with the update pack that gives names, models and textures from the real 2004 F1 championship.

The additional packs can be found at the official VGP2 website. For further information, you can also check the old threads in the RaceSimCentral VGP2 forum. (snx)

3D Demo Object for Blender: Gingerbread man with bones (update)
Carsten Siegner has created a demo object for the 3D renderer Blender, which illustrates how bones (so-called fittings) are built into the gingerbread man from the Blender tutorial.

In addition to other diverse platforms, Blender is also available as a port for MorphOS.

Using the bones, you can animate the gingerbread man arbitrarily freely. In the existing demo object, only bones for arms and legs are available, however more - for the movement of the head, for instance - can be added.

The object does not possess textures yet, since it should primarily illustrate the integration of the bones.

Download: Blender-3D-demo.lha (28 KB)

Update: (10:22, 30.10.05, snx)
The related instructions in the original tutorial also exist in German. (snx) (Translation: cad)
