AmigaOS 4: Drum-Machine RockBEAT 3.0
James Carroll hat ein Update seiner Drum-Machine RockBEAT zur Verfügung gestellt. Die Version 3.0 ist nach Angaben des Autors noch ein wenig fehlerhaft, weist aber die folgenden Änderungen auf:
- Added a function to display how much time was taken to Save projects as WAV files. This could be useful in benchmarking OS4 hardware
- Added volume sliders and mute buttons for the tracks. These values are saved when you Save your projects too
- Changed the graphics to be super skinny, so that the beat buttons fits on a 1024x768 screen. Scrolling still causes audio to skip, so 800x600 users will still suffer. Sorry
- Changed my audio frames to use short's instead of unsigned long's. This should theoretically make my audio sound a lot better, but I can't tell if its made any difference
- Did some bugfixing with my arrays. Data was being setup and written outside where it should have been, and was probably trashing memory

The Amiga computer represents a lot of firsts in the computer industry but it also represents many missed opportunities. Since the death of Commodore in 1994 the Amiga has descended into dark times. They say you learn most from your failures and not your successes and this is most certainly the case when it comes to Amiga. And yet some good things have happened as well.
The Amiga market has branched off into some healthy competition with the arrival of MorphOS, AROS & Amiga OS 4.0. The Amiga emulation scene is alive and well with Amiga Forever from Cloanto. And lets not forget the hard work of the developers of Minimig, Natami & CloneA. Amiga developers have transcended the need of one company controlling the destiny of Amiga and have forged ahead in interesting ways.
It is this Amiga spirit that DiscreetFX loves and we want to nurture. So starting today we will select one winner per month and give them $100 donation via paypal. No this is not a ton of money but it is a gesture that is meant to encourage positive feelings and development in the Amiga community of families. Each month if a developer or even user does something outstanding that pushes forward the Amiga, MorphOS, AROS or Amiga OS 4.0 brand we will send them this little reward. The first reward has already been sent in fact.
The winner is Jan Zahurancik's AmiKit. Jan has worked tirelessly and created a killer add on for WinUAE and the Amiga emulation scene. He is not alone and it takes many to change the world. But it is our sincere hope that the Amiga scene can grow one day again. One million users and 100,000 active developers would be just grand. MorphOS: Update von Word Me Up XXL
Word Me Up XXL von Boing Attitude kombiniert Arcade- und Knobel-Elemente und liegt für MorphOS nun in überarbeiteter Form vor. Zugleich wird daran erinnert, sich zu registrieren, um kostenlose Updates zu erhalten.

Steffen Gutmann stellt ein Update seiner relationalen, programmierbaren Datenbank MUIbase zur Verfügung. Änderungen in Version 2.5:
- More options for reference popups: set of records can be computed
by a trigger function, initial and current record are optional,
layout using multi-column list
- Labels of a string list pop-up can be computed by a trigger function
- Option to treat pathnames relative to directory of project
- Option 'advance on enter' for jumping to next string field or staying
in current one
- New preferences system: distinguish between user and project settings.
User prefs are saved immediately on any change

WHDLoad: Neue Pakete bis 05.06.2008
Mit WHDLoad lassen sich Spiele und Szene-Demos, die nur für den Diskettenbetrieb gedacht waren, auf einer Festplatte installieren. Außerdem werden zahlreiche Inkompatibilitäten mit neueren Amiga-Modellen beseitigt.

Veranstaltung: LAN-Party des Amiga-Club Hamburg am 19. Juli 2008
Thorsten Mampel, 1. Vorsitzender des Amiga-Club Hamburg e.V., schreibt: Am Samstag, dem 19. Juli 2008, veranstaltet der Amiga-Club Hamburg wieder seine jährliche LAN-Party.
Alle Amiga-Systeme (Classic, AmigaOne, Pegasos, Efika, AROS und Emulatoren) sind willkommen. Ein Internetanschluss (DSL) steht über ein LAN zur Verfügung, Tische und Stühle sind reichlich vorhanden.
Beginn ist um 13 Uhr, das Ende ist offen. Der Unkostenbeitrag beträgt 4 Euro.
Die Veranstalter bitten, genügend Verteilersteckdosen und ein Netzwerkkabel mitzubringen. Wer hat, möchte bitte zudem seinen Ethernet-Switch mitbringen.
Um Anmeldung wird gebeten, eine kurze E-Mail reicht. Eine Wegbeschreibung ist unter dem Titellink zu finden. (snx)

Black Belt Systems: Amiga-Software kostenlos herunterladbar
Ben Williams, Autor der Software von Black Belt Systems, stellt seine Amiga-Programme nun kostenlos zum Herunterladen zur Verfügung.
Lediglich zwei Titel fehlen derzeit noch: Notebook und FlexOS-Emulator. Letzterer befand sich möglicherweise auf der Amiga-Format-CD 17. Wer eines der beiden Programme besitzt, wird gebeten, Kontakt zum Amiga.org-Mitglied Rabbi aufzunehmen, damit die Sammlung komplettiert werden kann.
Aktuell zur Verfügung stehen:
- ImageMaster 1.60 mit Plugins von Drittanbietern
- ApAssist
- AVT 5.50 (Amiga Video Terminal für die AVT-Hardware von AEA)
- Board Master 1.19 (PCB-Software)
- Digital Soup (Evolutionäres künstliches Leben)
- JakeBoard (Software für Behinderte)
- TalkBoard (Software für Behinderte)
Zum Bildbearbeitungsprogramm ImageMaster existiert auch eine kommerzielle Nachfolge-Version für Windows. (snx)

MorphOS: Weitere HD-Rennstrecken für VGP 2
Jason Frabottas Projekt "VGP HD" ist der Versuch, der Engine von Paolo Cattanis Formel 1-Simulation Virtual Grand Prix 2 durch den Einsatz überarbeiteter, hochauflösender Texturen neues Leben einzuhauchen (Screenshot).
Bereits im Dezember wurden überarbeitete Versionen der Rennstrecken in Hockenheim, Imola und Ungarn veröffentlicht, seit gestern stehen auch Monza und Indianapolis zur Verfügung. (cg)

DiscreetFX: Namenswettbewerb / SDK im Aminet
Nach dem Erwerb der Raytracing- und Animations-Software Aladdin 4D (amiga-news.de berichtete) stellt DiscreetFX unter dem Titellink nun ein Maskottchen für das Programm vor und bittet um Namensvorschläge für jenen weiblichen Flaschengeist.
Dem Einsender des besten Namens winken 100 US-Dollar, kostenlose Aladdin-4D-Updates auf Lebenszeit und die Erwähnung zusammen mit allen anderen, die zu dem Programm beigetragen haben. Vorschläge können im Aladdin-4D-Forum genannt oder per E-Mail an DiscreetFX übermittelt werden.
Ein aktuelles SDK zu Aladdin 4D wurde im Aminet bereitgestellt. (snx)

AmigaSYS: Update der WinUAE-Fassung
AmigaSYS ist eine vorinstallierte Workbench für den Amiga-Emulator WinUAE mit vielen Erweiterungen. Zusätzlich benötigt werden lediglich eine Datei mit dem Kickstart-ROM sowie zumindest eine Workbench-Diskette der Version 3.x.
Mit Erscheinen der neuen Version von Cloantos Emulator-Komplettpaket wurde die WinUAE-Fassung von AmigaSYS 4 nun aktualisiert, um Amiga Forever 2008 in vollem Umfang zu unterstützen. (snx)

Der Weltraum-Shooter Kobo Deluxe (Screenshot) bietet unter anderem schnelles 8-Wege-Scrolling, 14 verschiedene Gegner und 50 Landkarten.
