- A new multi-file text editor called "TextEdit" is included as a show-case

2.BUILT-IN ADF (AMIGA DISK FILE IMAGE) MANAGEMENT
- DAControl & trackfile.device provide unprecedented functionality, as they enable users to create, mount, insert and eject ADF files
- ADF images are handled just like any physical floppy disk
- On "Workbench" you can mount an ADF image by double-clicking on it
- ADF handling can be accomplished via Shell through the use of an extensive set of available options
- Accessing such mounted ADF disk image files is fast and requires very little memory
- Multiple ADF disk images can be mounted at the same time
- A shared cache system is available in order to speed up ADF operations
3.INTEGRATED HELP SUBSYSTEM

- The "About" window now reports the width, height and depth of the currently displayed picture or animation
- The names of ARexx scripts for user menus can now be up to 40 characters long and may contain "spaces"
- Pressing the [Shift] key while the "Save as..." menu item is selected, forces MultiView to save the displayed document in IFF format
- Now lists pattern matching in its ASL requester that, if removed, can also display icons (useful in conjunction with the new icon.datatype)
11.REVAMPED COMMODITIES
- "RAWBInfo" is an improved replacement of the icon information tool
- "AsyncWB" is an AmigaOS Workbench enhancement Commodity with divers functionality
- "AutoPoint" KEEPSTRINGS prevents this Commodity from automatically stealing focus from a window with an active string gadget
- "ClickToFront" TOBACK_QUALIFIER selects a qualifier for sending windows back (with a single click)
- "ClickToFront" no longer brings Workbench windows to the front when double-clicking on an icon
- "NumericPad" allows numeric pad keys to be remapped to the standard keyboard
- The "AutoArrangeIcons" Commodity-like set of scripts automates the ordering and snapshot of icons in the active window
12.EXPANDED BOOTMENU
- An option to trace the Startup-sequence line by line is now available
- The user can disable ROM Module updates by clicking on a gadget
- The hardware expansion screen displays expansion board addresses and sizes
- A new option to redirect serial port output to a file is available with the "Enable System Log" option
- The "Failsafe" boot gadget starts the Amiga in a robust and safe environment to carry out maintenance and troubleshooting tasks

Spiele-Ankündigungen: Krogharr, Polar Panic, L'Abbaye des Morts
Krogharr ist das neue Projekt des Inviyya-Entwicklers 'Tigerskunk'. In diesem Beat'em Up gilt es, den gleichnamigen, schwertschwingenden Barbaren zu steuern, inspiriert ist der Titel vom SMS-Klassiker Black Belt.
Der Plattformer 'Polar Panic' (Video) wird mit der Scorpion Engine erstellt. Das Spiel befindet sich noch in einem frühen Stadium, weitere Details sind noch nicht bekannt.
Auch 'L'Abbaye des Morts' (Video) wird mit Scorpion entwickelt. Der Titel wurde ursprünglich für den PC veröffemtlicht und zwischenzeitlich auf diverse 8- und 16-Bit-Plattformen portiert.

MorphOS: E-Mail-Programm Iris 0.117
Jacek 'jacadcaps' Piszczeks "Iris" soll künftig das Standard-E-Mail-Programm von MorphOS werden. Es unterstützt IMAP und kann HTML-E-Mails sowohl anzeigen als auch erstellen.
Zu den Neuerungen der Version 0.117 zählen das Herausfiltern eigener E-Mail-Adressen beim Antworten an alle, das Herunterskalieren übergroßer Bilder beim Anzeigen, eine Schaltfläche zum (De-) Aktivieren der Rechtschreibprüfung im Editorfenster und die Bereinigung eines TLS-bezogenen Fehlers, der beim Zusammenspiel mit Wayfarer zum Absturz führen konnte. Hyperion: Bugfix der timesync.library in AmigaOS 4.1 Update 2
AmigaOS 4 Update 2 stürzt offenbar u.U. ab wenn man den "date"-Befehl anweist, die Systemzeit mit der eines entsprechenden Interner-Servers abzugleichen. Die fehlerhafte Komponente ist timesync.library Version 53.8 oder älter, eine aktualisierte Version dieser Bibliothek stellt Hyperion jetzt allen registrierten Kunden über den AmiUpdate-Server update.amigaos.net zur Verfügung. MorphOS: Web-Browser Wayfarer 1.19 (Update)
Jacek 'jacadcaps' Piszczek hat seinen Web-Browser Wayfarer auf die Version 1.18 aktualisiert. Die Änderungen im Überblick:
- Beim Durchblättern des Verlaufes wird nun die jeweilige URL korrekt angezeigt
- Auf ffmpeg 4.4 aktualisiert
- Die Verarbeitung von "bogus stream data" im Abspieler verbessert
- Ein Speicherleck im Abspieler teilweise entschärft
Vorausgesetzt werden MorphOS 3.15 und 1 GB RAM. Ein Prozessor mit mindestens 1,5 GHz wird empfohlen. Für Rückmeldungen an den Autor können neben dem integrierten Absturzmelder E-Mails an wayfarer at wayfarer.icu oder die entsprechende MorphZone-Diskussion zum Thema genutzt werden.

AmigaOS 4: Fraktal- und Mandelbrotprogramm FlashMandelNG 3.5
Der Entwickler Dino Papararo, über den wir letztens ein ausführliches Porträt veröffentlicht hatten, hat die Version 3.5 seines Fraktal- und Mandelbrotprogramms FlashMandelNG ins OS4Depot hochgeladen. Diese Version bereinigt Fehler beim Starten des Programmes von der Workbench und der Palettenauswahl. Schon in der vorherigen Version 3.4 hatte der Autor die Nutzung der datatype.library für das Laden und Speichern von Bildern eingeführt. Bei diesen Vorgängen wird eine zusätzliche Datei mit der Endung ".fmng" angelegt, die die Koordinaten enthält. (dr)

'Henry's House' ist ein klassischer Single-Screen-Plattformer, der 1984 für den C64 veröffentlicht wurde. Die Amiga-Umsetzung (Video) stammt vom Entwickler-Team 'MC STUDIOS', das offenbar eine ganze Reihe von 8-Bit-Titeln auf den Amiga portieren will. (cg)

AmigaOS 4: Videoanleitung zur Inbetriebnahme von ACubes Sam460cr
Roman 'kas1e' Kargin hatte sich im Zuge von ACube Systems Weihnachtsaktion ein Sam460cr-Board samt diverser Spiele und AmigaOS 4.1 zugelegt. Da die italienische Soft- und Hardwareschmiede die Produktion weiterer Boards angekündigt hatte, möchte der Entwickler durch die Veröffentlichung seines Videos auch andere Nutzer anregen, den Kauf eines Boards in Betracht zu ziehen.
Seine Videoanleitung hat er in sieben Kapitel unterteilt:
- Teil 1: Lieferung auspacken und die Bestandteile einer näheren Betrachtung unterziehen.
- Teil 2: Der erste Probelauf.
- Teil 3: Einbau in den Tower. Vertikale Anordnung der Grafikkarte.
- Teil 4: Installation von AmigaOS4 FE unter Zuhilfenahme eines USB-Sticks mit Radeon-Treibern.
- Teil 5: Grundeinstellungen vornehmen: Netzwerk, Audio und Extras.
- Teil 6: Installation von Update1 und Update2.
- Teil 7: Vollständige Konfiguration. Bewertung der Alltagstauglichkeit.
Die Videoanleitung ist mit Musik untermalt. Durch englische Untertitel werden seine einzelnen Aktionen näher erläutert. Als Towergehäuse verwendet er eine MasterBox NR200P, für den ersten Test eine RadeonHD r270 Verde (die er ursprünglich für seinen AmigaONE X5000 erstanden hatte) und als finale Lösung eine Radeon RX 560-Grafikkarte.
Auf amigaworld.net gibt der Ersteller erste Eindrücke wider: USB auf dem Sam460 wäre viel schneller als auf dem X5000. Der Browser Odyssey liefe aber definitiv langsamer, vor allem das Videorendering. Ebenso würde das Laden von Spieledaten in den Arbeitsspeicher länger dauern. Der FPS-Wert wäre dreimal langsamer auf allen getesteten Spielen im Vergleich zum X5000.
Fazit: "Mit anderen Worten, es ist ausreichend für den Alltagsgebrauch, aber der X5000 ist definitiv besser. Wer aber nur 700$ für ein Komplettsystem ausgeben möchte, für den ist es sicherlich OK und eine gute Möglichkeit, um in die Nutzung von AmigaOS 4 einzusteigen. Die Installation ist sehr verzwickt (keine RadeonRX-Treiber in der AmigaOS 4-Installations-CD enthalten, Uboot nicht sichtbar, kein standardmäßiges Booten von USB in den Uboot-Einstellungen) - das ist für Neueinsteiger ziemlich kompliziert. Aber ist das einmal geschafft, dann läuft alles." (dr)
