Hollywood: ZIP-Plugin 2.0 veröffentlicht
Pressemitteilung: Airsoft Softwair freut sich die sofortige Verfügbarkeit der Version 2.0 des ZIP-Plugins für Hollywood bekanntgeben zu können. Version 2.0 ist ein größeres Update, welches jetzt zahlreiche neue Funktion von Hollywood 10 unterstützt, wie z.B. die Möglichkeit ZIP-Archive als Dateisystem anzumelden, so dass Hollywood-Funktionen wie DeleteFile() oder Rename() auch direkt auf Dateien und Verzeichnisse innerhalb von ZIP-Archiven angewendet werden können. Außerdem macht das Plugin nun Gebrauch von Optimierungen, die durch Hollywood 10 möglich sind.
Das Update steht ab sofort zum kostenlosen Herunterladen auf dem offiziellen Hollywood-Portal unter dem Titellink zur Verfügung. Dank Hollywoods plattformunabhängigem Pluginsystem gibt es Versionen für AmigaOS 3.x (m68k), AmigaOS 3.x FPU (m881), AmigaOS 4, MorphOS, WarpOS (m68k/ppc), Linux (ppc, arm, x86, x64), macOS (ppc, x86, x64, arm64), Windows (x86, x64), Android (arm, arm64), und iOS (arm, arm64). MorphOS: Einstellungen nur Nutzung unter Linux mit libvirt (englisch)
Unter dem Titellink berichtet der MorphZone-Teilnehmer "AA5ikkR5SQC6pJSc" auf englisch, mit welchen Einstellungen er MorphOS mittels des Emulators QEMU unter Fedora-Linux mit libvirt zum Laufen bekommen hat. Die funktionierende Emulation einer Netzwerkkarte allerdings gelang ihm bislang nicht. (snx)

Demoszene: Morphiller von Encore gewinnt bei Decrunch-Party in Breslau
Vom 23. bis 25. Juni fand in Breslau die Demoparty "Decrunch" statt. In der Kategorie "wild competition" gewann das MorphOS-Demo "Morphiller" von Encore (Video). Die Musik mit dem Titel "Revolution", zu finden auf dem Album "Fish and Chips", stammt von "XTD of Lamers".

MorphOS: Webbrowser Wayfarer 5.5
Jacek 'jacadcaps' Piszczek hat die Version 5.5 seines Webbrowsers Wayfarer für MorphOS veröffentlicht. Die Neuerungen betreffen unter anderem die mjpeg-Unterstützung in ffmpeg (ermöglicht Audiowiedergabe in JellyFin) und ein aktualisiertes cURL, weshalb der Autor "dringend" empfiehlt zu aktualisieren, sofern man die Versionen 5.2, 5.3 oder 5.4 verwendet.

AROS-Distribution: AROS One 2.1 (x86)
Die auf der AROS-Binärschnittstelle ABI v0 basierende Distribution "AROS One" ist jetzt in der Version 2.1 für x86-Rechner verfügbar. Heruntergeladen werden kann sie als DVD-ISO-Datei oder als USB-Flash-Image unter dem Titellink, wo sich auch Videoaufnahmen finden.

Textvergleichstool: ADiffView 2.4
ADiffView vergleicht zwei ASCII-Textdateien und zeigt die Unterschiede grafisch an. Die Engine zur Anzeige der Unterschiede verwendet den Diff-Algorithmus von Eugene Myers. Nachdem Uwe Rosner die Version 2.4 für MorphOS bereits im Mai veröffentlicht hatte, steht diese Version nun auch für AmigaOS 3 (direkter Download, 134 KB) zur Verfügung. Änderungen:
- Behavior: When ADiffView opens its own screen it is now a public screen named ADIFFVIEW.1. This number is incremented for each instance. The name of the screen where ADiffView is actually running is displayed in the About requester.
- Behavior: On AmigaOS 3.1.4 and newer when ADiffView opens its own screen the new off-screen dragging mode is enabled. This allows windows to be dragged beyond the screen borders.
- Behavior: Added (ToolType / CLI) argument EDITORONPUBSCREEN. When this is set and the editor (see EDITOR argument) supports a PUBSCREEN argument it will be opened on the ADiffView screen. The default editor C:Ed doest't support it, but OS3.1.4+ Tools/TextEdit does.
- Behavior: The editor is now started asynchronously.
- Fixed user interface and selection glitches that occurred when different screen or window title bar heights were set in OS3.1.4.+ Prefs/IControl.
- Built with the OS3.2 NDK.

MorphOS: Plattformer REminiscence 0.5.1
REminiscence ist eine neugeschriebene Engine für das Spiel Flashback von Delphine Software. Das Programm ist als plattformübergreifender Ersatz für das Originalspiel gedacht. Die MorphOS-Version benötigt die SDL-Library 2.28.0. Änderungen:
- added looping for DOS .prf music
- changed audio mixer to stereo
- updated timings for cutscenes

SMB2-Handler smb2fs V53.7 für AmigaOS 3/4 und AROS
Der Server Message Block (SMB) ist ein Netzprotokoll für Datei-, Druck- und andere Serverdienste in Rechnernetzen und erlaubt den Zugriff auf Dateien und Verzeichnisse, die sich auf einem anderen Computer befinden (Wikipedia-Eintrag). Fredrik Wikstroms SMB2-Handler basiert auf libsmb2 und erlaubt den Fernzugriff auf Dateien über die SMB2/3-Protokolle (amiga-news.de berichtete). Änderungen der Version 53.7:
- Merged latest changes from libsmb2 git repository.
- AmigaOS 3 version now uses ReqTools for the password requester.
- Now uses an empty string instead of a NULL pointer when connecting to a share without a password.
- AROS version no longer gets SysBase by reading it from AbsExecBase.
- AROS version: Replaced fcntl() and close() calls with IoctlSocket() and CloseSocket().
Anforderungen: newlib.library V53.40 oder neuer (bzw. die V53.30, wie in 4.1 FE enthalten) und die filesysbox.library V54.4 oder neuer für AmigaOS 4, filesysbox.library 54.3 oder neuer für AROS und AmigaOS 3 und optional die requester.class (aus ClassAct/ReAction, für die Passwortabfrage) für AmigaOS 3.
Für alle drei Betriebssysteme gibt es im Aminet jeweils einen GUI für die Erstellung eines DOSDrivers.

Desktop-Widget: RNOWidgets 1.5 für MorphOS und AmigaOS 4
RNOWidgets vereint mehrere Dienstprogramme (Widgets) in einer einzigen Anwendung und liegt nun neben MorphOS erstmals auch für AmigaOS 4 vor. RNOWidgets enthält Widgets für Kalender (ISO), Analoguhr, Digitaluhr, Notizen, Bilder (lokal und im Netz), RSS-Feeds, Sticker und Wetter. Wer den Autor 'jPV^RNO' bei der weiteren Entwicklung seiner "RNO"-Programme unterstützen möchte, findet unter dem Titellink die Möglichkeit dazu. Änderungen der Version 1.5:
- Fixed compositing support detection (for hardware accelerated transparency)
- Uses openssl3.library instead of AmiSSL for HTTPS URLs on MorphOS, and AmiSSL v5 on OS4
- Linked required plugins in the executable (works better in WBStartup, etc..)
- Updated RSS presets
- Other small changes

Musikvideo: Steuerung einer Akai MPC ONE mit Horny (MorphOS)
In einem aktuellen Video zeigt 'Dj Collins', wie er seinen Akai MPC ONE mittels Horny vom Pegasos II unter MorphOS steuert. Der Akai-Audioausgang wird von einem Amiga 4000 mit einer Toccata-Soundkarte aufgenommen und die Datei über das Netzwerk an HD-REC zum Mastering übertragen. (dr)

SMB2-Handler smb2fs V53.6 für AmigaOS 3/4 und AROS
Der Server Message Block (SMB) ist ein Netzprotokoll für Datei-, Druck- und andere Serverdienste in Rechnernetzen und erlaubt den Zugriff auf Dateien und Verzeichnisse, die sich auf einem anderen Computer befinden (Wikipedia-Eintrag). Fredrik Wikstroms SMB2-Handler basiert auf libsmb2 und erlaubt den Fernzugriff auf Dateien über die SMB2/3-Protokolle (amiga-news.de berichtete). Änderungen der Version 53.6:
- read_startup_args() now uses AllocDosObject() to create the RDArgs for
ReadArgs() instead of allocating it locally on the stack. Strangely this bug
didn't seem to cause any problems on AmigaOS 4 but on AmigaOS 3 it caused an
AN_BadFreeAddr (#0100000F) alert on filesystem exit (ACTION_DIE).
Anforderungen: newlib.library V53.40 oder neuer (bzw. die V53.30, wie in 4.1 FE enthalten) und die filesysbox.library V54.4 oder neuer für AmigaOS 4, filesysbox.library 54.3 oder neuer für AROS und AmigaOS 3 und optional die requester.class (aus ClassAct/ReAction, für die Passwortabfrage) für AmigaOS 3.

Datatype: WarpDTPrefs 45.12
Oliver Roberts hat das Einstellungsprogramm WarpDTPrefs für seine Warp-Datatypes aktualisiert. Änderungen:
- Fixed the default background checkboxes being disabled incorrectly due to the re-ordered alpha channel mode lists in the previous release.
- Increased minimum stack size to 16K, for safety.
- OS3 and MorphOS versions recompiled with VBCC 0.9h.
- OS4 version recompiled with GCC 11.2.0.

Amiga Future: Abo-Aktion beendet - Mehr Seiten ab Heft 163
Im April warb das Printmagazin "Amiga Future" um zusätzliche Abonnenten, um die Seitenzahl des Heftes zu erhöhen: Bei 24 neuen Beziehern des Heftes hätte der Umfang um vier Seiten erhöht werden sollen, bei 48 um acht Seiten.
Das Ziel wurde jedoch nicht erreicht. Dennoch wird der Umfang des Magazins ab der Ausgabe 163 um vier auf dann 56 Seiten ausgeweitet - die Kostendifferenz werde APC&TCP als Verlag selber tragen. (snx)

Editor: MUI-Vim V9.0.1546 für AmigaOS 4, AROS und MorphOS
MUI-Vim ist ein Port des Editors Vim. Dieser Editor ist sowohl für die Bearbeitung von Programmen als auch reinen Textdateien gedacht. Mehrstufiges Rückgängigmachen, Syntaxhervorhebung, Befehlszeilen-Geschichte, Blockoperationen und Skriptsprache sind einige der Features.
Ola 'sodero' Söder hat nun die Version 9.0.1546 von VIM portiert und für AmigaOS4, AROS und MorphOS veröffentlicht. Zusätzlich hat er die Syntaxhervorhebung für Hollywood 10 aktualisiert.

MorphOS: E-Mail-Programm Iris 1.15
Jacek 'jacadcaps' Piszczek hat wenige Tage nach Veröffentlichung der Version 1.14 seines E-Mail-Programms Iris für MorphOS ein Update nachgeschoben.
Die Neuerungen gelten im wesentlichen einem NetStack-Fehler der MorphOS-Versionen 3.14 bis 3.18, der bereits zu Wayfarer 5.3 führte, und wie dort wurden bei dieser Gelegenheit auch gleich cURL und sqlite aktualisiert. (snx)

MorphOS: Webbrowser Wayfarer 5.3 (Update)
Jacek 'jacadcaps' Piszczek hat die Version 5.2 seines Webbrowsers Wayfarer für MorphOS 3.18, was zwingend erforderlich ist, veröffentlicht. Diese Version behebt die hohe CPU-Last bei github.com, aktualisiert die easylist Adblock-Daten und führt ein Benutzerskript ein, um das Abspielen von Youtube-Videos zu verbessern bzw. Farbverläufe zu korrigieren (Änderungen).
Um das Benutzerskript zu installieren, wird "User Scripts" im Menü "Debug" geöffnet und die Datei Scripts/yt-no-gradients.json aus dem Verzeichnis von Wayfarer ausgewählt und aktiviert.

Mittlerweile ist bereits die Version 5.3 verfügbar, die die Handhabung lokaler Dateien verbessert, einen NetStack-Fehler in MorphOS 3.14-3.18 umgeht und aktualisierte Versionen von cURL und sqlite beinhaltet.

Veranstaltung: Programminformationen zur Amiga38
Markus Tillmann schreibt: Am gestrigen Sonntag, den 14. Mai 2023, ist der Ticketverkauf mit wenigen Minuten Verspätung kurz nach 20 Uhr gestartet (amiga-news.de berichtete).
Die Amiga38 dürfte auch in diesem Jahr - trotz mehrerer alter und neuer Amiga-Veranstaltungen - die größte weltweit sein und Gäste und Besucher aus der ganzen Welt willkommen heißen.
Die Besucher dürfen sich auf drei Themenschwerpunkte freuen, die an den anderthalb Tagen im Vordergrund stehen werden: zum einen wollen wir der legendären und wahnsinnig aktiven Demoszene Tribut zollen und haben hierzu neben dem durch das Apollo-Team ins Leben gerufenen Demo-Contest (amiga-news.de berichtete) noch einige weitere musikalische und informelle Beiträge.
Unser zweiter Themenschwerpunkt wird das AmigaOS und dessen aktuelles Entwicklerteam sein: wer steckt eigentlich hinter der Entwicklung von AmigaOS3.2? Ein Teil des Teams wird mit einem eigenen Stand auf der Amiga38 vertreten sein und Rede und Antwort stehen. Camilla Boemann wird aus Dänemark anreisen und stellvertretend für das Team auch eine Bühnenpräsentation halten.
Des Weiteren wollen wir auch Commodores Konsole, dem Amiga CD32, eine größere Aufmerksamkeit zuteilwerden lassen, zumal sie in diesem Jahr ihren 30. Geburtstag feiert. Hoffnungsträger oder Totgeburt? Welcher Plan steckte hinter der Konsole? Was wäre passiert, wenn Commodore zum Zeitpunkt der Veröffentlichung liquider gewesen wäre? Diesen und weiteren Fragen wollen wir uns ebenfalls im Oktober annehmen - als besonderen Ehrengast konnten wir hier Beth Richard aus den USA gewinnen. Beth Richard arbeitete von 1991 bis zu ihrem Ausscheiden im April 1994 als Ingenieurin bei Commodore.
Sie war Designerin des Grace-Chips und des CDTV-CR, der ihn verwendete; des MPEG-4000, der der Prototyp für die CD32 FMV Cartridge war, eine der drei Designer des Akiko-Chips im CD32 und die Hauptdesignerin des CD1200 Prototyps.
Weitere bekannte Namen, die bereits zugesagt haben, sind unter anderem Petro Tyschtschenko, der im April bereits seinen 80. Geburtstag feierte, David Pleasance und Dave Haynie.
Für die Amiga38 gibt es neben den Tagestickets zu 27,50 Euro, die passenderweise "Passierschein A38" genannt wurden, natürlich auch wieder Tagestickets samt Tisch (für 40,- Euro), sowie Karten für das Pre-Opening und Get-Together am Freitagabend (nach dem Aufbau der Aussteller ist ein erster Rundgang möglich, dazu gibt es ab 20 Uhr Snacks und Getränke, sowie ein Bühnenprogramm inklusive einer Reshoot-Proxima-Release-Party) zu 59,- Euro.
Zusätzlich gibt es einige Ticketkombis mit Rabatten, sowie auch Freikarten für Kinder und Jugendliche bis einschließlich 16 Jahren. Da einige Kategorien erfahrungsgemäß schnell ausverkauft sein werden, macht es Sinn, sich rechtzeitig sein Ticket zu sichern.

Video: The History of Cursor Keys
Der YouTube-Kanal "The 8-Bit Guy" wirft im vorliegenden Video einen Blick auf die Geschichte der Cursortasten, die heutzutage in den meisten Fällen in Form eines umgedrehten "T"s angeordnet sind: Zeige-, Mittel- und Ringfinger können auf der Tastatur verbleiben und der Mittelfinger kann leicht zwischen der Auf- und Abwärtstaste wechseln.
Die Digital Equipment Corporation entwickelte 1982 die LK201-Tastatur, weil sie feststellten, dass links, rechts, und unten die am häufigsten benutzten Tasten waren. Das ist heute der De-facto-Standard, aber das sei nicht immer der Fall gewesen. So hätten die Apple Lisa und der originale Macintosh überhaupt keine Cursortasten gehabt, weil Steve Jobs die Entwickler und Nutzer anhalten wollte, die Maus zu verwenden.
Mit der "Diamant-Anordnung" hätte der Amiga 1000 ein eigenwilliges Layout erhalten: die Cursortasten haben die Form eines Diamanten, wobei die linke und rechte Taste so nah beieinander liegen, dass man nicht einfach den Mittelfinger benutzen kann, um zwischen den Tasten nach oben und unten zu wechseln. Mit der Einführung des Amiga 500 und 2000 wechselte man jedoch zu dem Stil des umgekehrten T, den wir heute alle benutzen. Der Amiga 1000 ist also der einzige Amiga, der solche Cursor hatte. (dr)
